<p>Rising Egyptian star Amir El-Masry has been cast to play the role of the young&nbsp;Egyptian billionaire&nbsp;Mohamed Al-Fayed, the father of Princess Diana&rsquo;s lover Dodi, in the upcoming fifth season of &ldquo;The Crown&rdquo; series.</p>
<p>According to Variety, the casting of El-Masry has been confirmed with no further details.</p>

<p>Born in Cairo and raised in London, Amir El Masry started his international career path in 2016 with a small standout role as an hotel chef opposite to Tom Hiddleston in the mini-series &ldquo;The Night Manager.&rdquo;</p>
<p>The young star has recently garnered critical praise for his role as a Syrian asylum-seeker living on a small Scottish island in Ben Sharrock&rsquo;s drama &ldquo;Limbo&rdquo; for which El Masry won a BAFTA Scotland acting award. He also scored a role as a military chief in &ldquo;Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Although &ldquo;The Crown&rdquo; producers aren&rsquo;t giving away any storylines, the casting of two characters both playing Mohamed al-Fayed suggests that, besides a glimpse into the last months of Diana&rsquo;s life,&nbsp;viewers will get some substantial back story of this Egyptian businessman, who in 2008 famously accused&nbsp;Queen Elizabeth&rsquo;s husband Prince Philip of ordering to kill Princess Diana to stop her from marrying a Muslim man.</p>
<p>Al-Fayed&rsquo;s son Dodi was romantically linked to Princess Diana, when they both&nbsp;died in a car crash in Paris, France in 1997. He will be played by &ldquo;The Kite Runner&rdquo; star Khalid Abdalla in the series, who will&nbsp;star opposite Elizabeth Debicki&nbsp;(&ldquo;Tenet&rdquo;) as Diana in the highly-anticipated fifth season of the show, which will drop in November 2022.</p>
<p>Other known main cast members of the fifth season are Salim Daw as Mohamed al-Fayed, Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth; Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret; Dominic West as Prince Charles; Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles and Jonny Lee Miller will also appear as Prime Minister John Major.</p>
