Jean-Luc Godard is an incredibly innovative director whose unconventional camera work, cinematic vision, and genius narrative style have completely reshaped and changed the course of cinema.
Godard is one of the most important figures in international cinema, directing more than 130 movies and writing around 100 scripts. Without Goddard, the cinema we know of nowadays would not exist. He has almost singlehandedly changed the concept of cinema and allowed millions of directors to find a place to be themselves as he advocated the idea of independent cinema.

In 1950, Godard, Jacques Rivette, and &Eacute;ric Rohmer founded "Gazette Du Cin&eacute;ma", a French film magazine for film criticism.
In 1952, he began writing film criticism for newspapers called "Les Cahiers Du Cinema&rdquo; and "Temps de Paris". In those papers, Godard wrote gossip columns and scenarios for films that labeled his&nbsp;aesthetic as "nouvelle vague", foreshadowing the French New Wave.

&ldquo;The cinema is not an art which films life: the cinema is something between art and life. Unlike painting and literature, the cinema both gives to life and takes from it, and I try to render this concept in my films. In 1960, Godard released "Breathless" and married Anna Karina, the femme fatale. "Breathless" has quickly become a landmark in the French New Wave with its distorted editing and brilliant approach to filmmaking. In 1964, Godard and his wife founded their own production company to help support independent filmmakers. In 1965, Godard shot &ldquo;Alphaville&rdquo; (1965) and &ldquo;Pierrot le Fou&rdquo; (1965) in Paris; two of his best movies.
