Born in Cairo in 1946, Abdel Sayed studied film directing at the Higher Institute of Cinema. Moamen began his musical journey at just 11 years old, and today he&rsquo;s impressing millions with an Egyptian-flavored remix that&rsquo;s trending across platforms and racking up millions of listens. The remix was created in collaboration with Jaadu, the American-Egyptian DJ, turning the track into a global crossover moment.

First of all, let&rsquo;s get to know you better. How old are you, and how did your journey with music begin? My name is Moamen Mohamed, and I&rsquo;m known in remixes and songs as Moamen Moa. I started working on remixes in 2018, but honestly, I&rsquo;d been trying to learn much earlier, when I was around 11 or 12 years old. It wasn&rsquo;t easy at all back then; there were no tutorials or clear resources to learn from. I was a big fan of mahraganat music and always dreamed of making it myself. In 2018, I seriously started learning and working, teaching myself through YouTube and a lot of practice.

I really liked the rhythm and immediately felt it could work perfectly as an Egyptian mahragan. I went straight ahead and executed the idea, then uploaded it to YouTube, but that was about four months ago. Why did you choose &ldquo;Jealousy&rdquo; by Khalil Harrison and Tyler ICU specifically? I chose the song because I liked its style a lot, and I felt it was a perfect fit to be turned into a popular Egyptian mahragan. Is this your first remix experience, or have you worked on similar projects before? No, this isn&rsquo;t my first experience at all. I have many remixes that went viral before, but I just didn&rsquo;t have the luck or opportunity to really break through with them. For example, my remix of &ldquo;Ana Wenta Etneen&rdquo; by Hakim was trending for a while, and the &ldquo;Mohareb Kafa&rdquo; remix has been trending at weddings and summer events for about two years now, along with many others. The song surpassed 200,000 views on YouTube and was used by celebrities and public figures. When did you realize it had truly become a trend? I really felt it became a strong trend when I saw artists themselves enjoying it and posting videos using it. There&rsquo;s a difference between a trend that just passes and one that sticks, and I was very happy when I saw that this one really connected with people. What was the most surprising or touching reaction you received after the remix spread? The reaction that affected me the most was my mom&rsquo;s. She gets so happy when she sees me creating something that everyone is talking about. Did you expect this level of success, or was it a complete surprise? Honestly, I didn&rsquo;t expect it at all. I uploaded it four months ago, and no one really knew about it except my friends and me, so it was a big surprise.

Are there upcoming projects with the same Egyptian style applied to global songs, or are you planning to focus on original music? A lot is coming; I&rsquo;m still at the beginning, God willing. I&rsquo;m working on many foreign and Egyptian remixes, and at the same time, I receive a lot of private work requests. Most of them are from Cairo, while I&rsquo;m based in Alexandria, so that&rsquo;s really the only obstacle.

With a background in Classical Arabic Tarab and a Studio El Fann Gold Medal from 2010, Hiya fuses traditional Middle Eastern sounds with modern electronic music. Hiya&rsquo;s Lebanese heritage is at the heart of her musical identity. Each set she produces blends Arabic melodies, oriental scales, and vocals with electronic beats, creating a unique sound that honors tradition while embracing modernity. NileFM dives deeper into Hiya&rsquo;s journey, exploring the challenges she faced as a female DJ and the memories that shaped her musical path. She will also perform an exclusive set tonight only on Nile FM&rsquo;s DJ of the Week at 10:00 PM. 1. For listeners discovering you for the first time, how would you introduce Hiya, both the artist and the person behind the music? Hiya is an artist deeply connected to her Arabic and Oriental roots while exploring modern electronic music. Behind the music, I am someone driven by emotion, spirituality, and authenticity. Hiya represents freedom, femininity, and cultural pride, expressed through sound and storytelling. 2. You were born in Lebanon, and your sound carries strong Arabic roots. How has your heritage shaped your musical identity and the way you produce music today? My Lebanese heritage is at the core of my musical identity. I grew up listening to classical Arabic and oriental music every day at home; my father used to play it constantly, and it deeply shaped my ear and emotional connection to music. Today, when I produce, I naturally blend Arabic melodies, oriental scales, and vocals with electronic beats. It&rsquo;s not something I force; it&rsquo;s who I am.

Winning the Studio El Fann Gold Medal was a very important milestone for me. It gave me confidence in my voice and in my artistic direction, especially in Classical Arabic Tarab. That strong foundation stayed with me and continues to influence my work, even as I moved into electronic music. 4. Your journey started with traditional Arabic music before evolving into more experimental and electronic soundscapes. What pushed you to cross those boundaries? I&rsquo;ve always been curious and open to evolution. While I deeply love traditional Arabic music, I felt a strong urge to explore new soundscapes and express myself in different ways. Electronic music gave me freedom, the freedom to experiment, to blend worlds, and to reach new audiences while staying true to my roots. 5. Your latest track, &ldquo;Ya Mesafer,&rdquo; has a very emotional tone. What story or feeling were you trying to capture through this song? &ldquo;Ya Mesafer&rdquo; carries a very emotional and nostalgic feeling. The song is part of a larger work written for the legendary artist Walid Toufic, which made it very special for me. The emotion comes from longing, travel, and deep sentiment, elements that are very present in Arabic musical storytelling. 6. As a female DJ in a still male-dominated scene, how did your passion for DJing begin, and what challenges did you face at the start of your journey? From my point of view, the scene is changing, and it&rsquo;s beautiful to witness more female DJs, producers, and artists rising and doing so well. This shift is very motivating and empowering. At the beginning, one of the challenges I noticed was that male DJs often had the upper hand in lineups, especially when it came to closing slots. Other than that, I truly see a bright future and a growing balance between male and female artists in the industry.

Was there a moment early on when you felt you had to prove yourself more because you are a woman? How did you overcome that? Yes, there were moments early on where I felt pressure. At the same time, I also encountered many supportive male DJs and producers. In the end, my music spoke for itself. I may have had to prove myself at the beginning, but the quality and energy of my music did the talking. 8. How do you balance honoring classical Arabic Tarab while creating modern, high-energy sounds that speak to today&rsquo;s audiences? I am very proud of my Arabic and Oriental roots and always want to share them with the world. For me, it&rsquo;s about combining dancing electronic beats with Arabic vocals and oriental melodies. Beyond music, I feel a responsibility to show the world who Arabs truly are: great artists, poets, philosophers, and creators of history, especially in the Levant region. My music is my way of honoring that legacy while keeping it modern and alive. 9. What does it mean to you personally to be named NileFM&rsquo;s DJ of the Week, and how did you feel when you heard the news? Being named NileFM&rsquo;s DJ of the Week is a moment of great pride and joy for me. When I heard the news, I felt truly honored to be featured on Egypt&rsquo;s number one radio station, especially as a Lebanese artist. It also came with a sense of responsibility, as I created a special set exclusively for Nile FM. I&rsquo;m very grateful to my friend and a great DJ and producer, "Arrab," who shared the news with me; it was a truly happy and unforgettable moment.

From my very first production session, I started creating my own tracks. My advice to young women is: now is the time. Don&rsquo;t let anyone limit you or force you into boxes. Be yourself, show up for yourself, take courses, and go for it. Whatever makes your heartbeat with joy, don&rsquo;t hesitate, because regret is much heavier than fear.

Egyptian handicrafts continue to surface in unexpected forms, techniques and materials shaped by generations, still practiced quietly across the country. &ldquo;Come to the Light&rdquo; (Etlaa Lel Nour) is an exhibition that aims to place those crafts, and the people behind them firmly in the public eye.
Held at Fustat Market from 25 to 27 December, the exhibition brings together artisans from across Egypt, offering visitors a chance not only to buy handmade products, but to engage directly with their makers, attend workshops and hear the stories behind each piece. NileFM spoke to the exhibition&rsquo;s founder, Dr. Marian Kareem, about its origins, its focus and what sets it apart.
First, could you tell us about the idea behind the &ldquo;Come to the Light&rdquo; exhibition at Fustat Market? The exhibition was created to give artisans a real, physical space to present their work to the public. It allows people to see handmade pieces up close, understand how they are made, and meet the craftsmen and women themselves. For me, this direct interaction is essential; it turns crafts into a living experience rather than just a product on display.
How did the initiative itself begin? What was the turning point that led to this exhibition? It began with a simple observation; there are highly skilled artisans whose work deserves to be seen, but who lack access to audiences and opportunities. I met many people working with great dedication, yet struggling to find visibility. &ldquo;Come to the Light&rdquo; started as a way to bring those voices together, and the exhibition became a natural extension of that idea.

We also place strong emphasis on organization, variety and creating a thoughtful experience for visitors.
What should visitors expect that feels new or unfamiliar compared to traditional exhibitions? They will see a wide range of crafts from different Egyptian governorates, free workshops where they can try techniques themselves, and products that are deliberately non-repetitive. Most importantly, they will be able to speak directly with the artisans. It&rsquo;s not a passive visit; it&rsquo;s meant to be interactive.
Can you tell us about the types of artisans and projects taking part? The exhibition includes work in leather, pottery, copper, accessories, home d&eacute;cor, macram&eacute; and natural skincare, among others. Some participants are at the very beginning of their journey, while others have developed established practices. Bringing them together creates an exchange of experience as well as skills.

How does the exhibition support artisans? Being seen, heard and taken seriously makes a real difference. Exhibiting their work publicly, engaging with audiences and receiving feedback helps artisans feel valued. That emotional support can be just as impactful as financial return.
The exhibition highlights direct contact between maker and visitor. Why is that important? Because it restores the human side of crafts. When people know who made an item, how long it took and what it represents, the relationship changes. It becomes about appreciation and trust, not just consumption.
How does &ldquo;Come to the Light&rdquo; contribute to preserving Egyptian handicrafts as cultural heritage? By presenting them in ways that fit today&rsquo;s world without stripping them of their authenticity. Crafts need to evolve to survive. When people see them as relevant and meaningful, they are more likely to endure as part of our cultural identity.

With the exhibition continuing to grow, what challenges do you face? Maintaining quality while expanding is the biggest challenge. Finally, what is your vision for the exhibition&rsquo;s future? To reach more people, first across Egypt and then beyond. The goal is simple: that Egyptian handmade crafts are recognized, respected and appreciated wherever they are seen, with the exhibition remaining a place where those crafts are encountered in their most human form.

When did music first become part of your life, and how did that early relationship evolve into a passion for DJing? Music has been part of my life since I was a kid. I grew up with ballet, so rhythm and movement have always been a natural part of me.
Was there a defining moment when you realized DJing was more than a hobby and could become a serious path for you? I remember a moment when I felt the crowd really respond while I was playing. That&rsquo;s when I knew DJing was more than a hobby &mdash; it&rsquo;s something I love and want to keep growing in.
Every creative journey comes with its own challenges. As a female DJ, particularly in the early stages, what were some of the main obstacles you encountered? Early on, the biggest challenge was being taken seriously. I learned to stay focused, keep improving, and let the music speak for itself.

Is there a particular set you most enjoy playing? What story, mood, or emotion are you trying to convey when you perform it? I enjoy sets that grow and evolve, taking people on a little journey and keeping them fully in the moment.
How did you react when you learned you had been chosen as Nile FM&rsquo;s DJ of the Week? What was going through your mind at that moment? When I found out I was DJ of the Week, I felt really happy and grateful &mdash; it was such an amazing feeling to be recognized.

What does it mean to make people laugh, especially children, when destruction surrounds you? This is the central question explored by the Egyptian Palestinian documentary Daayel Aana Ard (One More Show), which unfolds amid the devastation of Gaza.
The film follows the Free Gaza Circus team after their forced displacement from northern Gaza to the south. With limited resources and constant danger, the troupe transforms circus performances into an act of resistance, using creativity, humor, and human connection to offer moments of joy to children in shelters and on the streets.
Rather than presenting spectacle, One More Show focuses on resilience. Each performance becomes a small but powerful assertion of life, reminding audiences that art can endure even in the harshest conditions. The documentary delivers a deeply human message about the role of creativity as both survival and hope in times of war.

NileFM spoke with Ahmed Al-Danaf, whose role as both filmmaker and eyewitness lends the documentary its emotional authenticity. Having lived the experiences he documents, Al-Danaf brings a rare immediacy to the film&mdash;one that blurs the line between journalism and lived reality and reinforces the enduring power of storytelling in the face of loss.
Before we dive into the details of the film, tell me about your beginnings as a photographer and journalist in Gaza. How did working in conflict zones shape your cinematic eye? I started with photography, focusing on faces and characters. Later, I moved toward documenting the history of Palestine, its heritage, archaeological sites, and the beauty of Gaza, as well as artists and the everyday heroes of Gaza who carry powerful human stories. Over time, I naturally found myself immersed in journalism and field reporting from the heart of Gaza. I worked under very difficult conditions and was always close to the people and to the events themselves, not observing from a distance. That taught me to focus on small details, not just the big picture or breaking news. With the years, my camera became more than a tool for documentation; it became a way to understand the human being inside the frame, their feelings, and their story. Working in conflict zones taught me to value honesty and simplicity more than any visual beauty or perfectly staged shot.

How did that experience help you enter the world of feature-length documentaries for the first time? A School Day was a very important step for me. The award gave me confidence and made me feel that the stories we live every day in Gaza can reach the world. The experience taught me patience, how to build a narrative, and how to tell a complete story through small details. All of that helped prepare me, both psychologically and artistically, for my first feature-length documentary.
 &ldquo;Free Gaza Circus&rdquo; is an unconventional idea in the midst of war. What drew you specifically to the circus performers, and why did you feel their story needed to be documented? What drew me to the idea, when Mai first contacted me, was that they are ordinary people who chose an unconventional way to face reality. The importance of their performances and their persistence, despite living under the same conditions of destruction, and their ability to affect the people around them were the main reasons that made me excited to document their story.
 The film presents a different kind of resistance, resistance through laughter and color. Was this your intention from the beginning, or did it emerge naturally during filming? From the beginning, there was a general feeling that we wanted to talk about life, not death. Every day, as we watched them rehearse and perform, we felt that what they were doing was, in itself, a stance. The film allowed this idea to emerge naturally, without forcing it.
 The performances take place amid destruction. What was the most impactful moment for you as a director during the filming? The most impactful moment for me was seeing children laugh wholeheartedly during a performance, despite everything surrounding them. It was a simple moment, but a powerful one. I felt that this laughter was greater than any political speech.

What was the hardest situation you faced during production? The hardest part was the constant tension, filming while not knowing what could happen the next minute. There were moments when we had to suddenly postpone filming, and the biggest challenge was continuing the work without putting anyone at risk.
 How did you manage to protect the safety of the crew and the film&rsquo;s characters amid such harsh conditions and displacement? Safety was always the top priority. We never filmed if we felt the location was unsafe. Every filming decision went through one question: Is it worth the risk? If the answer was no, we didn&rsquo;t shoot.
 From a production standpoint, how was coordination managed between an Egyptian and a Palestinian team to make a film of this scale under such extraordinary circumstances? The coordination was built on a great deal of trust. I conveyed the reality from the inside, while Mai and the team in Egypt worked on the overall vision and organization. Despite frequent internet outages, communication continued as much as possible, and each of us complemented the other&rsquo;s role.

How did you feel after this great achievement? It was an overwhelming feeling, hard to put into words. For the audience to choose the film again was the most important thing to me. I felt that the story had truly reached people and that they saw themselves in the characters. The award is not just a personal achievement; it is a tribute to the entire circus team and to every person in Gaza who is still holding on to life despite everything.

Egyptian-British actor Amir El-Masry has revealed the emotional moment he met Prince Naseem &ldquo;Naz&rdquo; Hamed at the premiere of his upcoming biopic, "Giant," during the Red Sea International Film Festival. Known for critically acclaimed performances in "Limbo" and "The Crown," El-Masry says he chooses projects that challenge him and have purpose. &ldquo;I look for stories that can make even a small change,&rdquo; he told NileFM. &ldquo;Playing one of my heroes in "Giant" was about bringing his story to a wider audience and giving representation to communities often overlooked in mainstream media.&rdquo;
He also spoke about the demanding physical and technical preparation required to become Prince Naseem. &ldquo;We trained up to 12 hours a day, every day for a week and a half, with only active rest days,&rdquo; he explained. &ldquo;We worked on boxing choreography, cardio, circuit training, and even perfected his unique accent and style. There was a moment during training when the character finally clicked, and everything came together.&rdquo;
The film charts Prince Naseem&rsquo;s meteoric rise from the streets of Sheffield to world-championship fame under the guidance of his eccentric Irish trainer, Brendan Ingle. &ldquo;It was important to capture not just his athletic ability, but the personality and flamboyance that made him iconic,&rdquo; El-Masry added.
Working alongside screen legends such as Sylvester Stallone and Pierce Brosnan was another standout element of the experience. &ldquo;Meeting Pierce was surreal. He&rsquo;s incredibly humble; it made me feel like I was truly collaborating, rather than just watching legends at work,&rdquo; he said.

Your filmography spans refugee dramas like Limbo, historical characters like in &ldquo;The Crown,&rdquo; and real-life athletes like in &ldquo;Giant.&rdquo; How do you decide if a script is worth pursuing?
It comes down to a few things. Firstly, if it&rsquo;s something I haven&rsquo;t done before and want to challenge myself, something that scares me. But also something I find genuinely interesting. I try to tell stories that can make a change, however small. With &ldquo;Limbo,&rdquo; I hoped it would spark discussions about the refugee crisis. With &ldquo;Giant,&rdquo; playing one of my heroes was motivating, but also highlighting someone who represents the North African, Arab, and Asian communities was important. Positive representation on screen is always a goal for me.

You grew up between Cairo and London. Do you feel your artistic choices shift depending on which culture you&rsquo;re drawing from?
When I&rsquo;m in Egypt, working here feels like being with family. Everyone goes beyond their job description, and there&rsquo;s no discrimination. Especially during Ramadan, the vibe is wholesome. But ultimately, I go for the story, the team, the director, or actors attached. If it feels right, I&rsquo;m in.

What role initially scared you the most, and why did you take it?
One was &ldquo;Held for Ransom,&rdquo; a Danish film in 2017. I played Muhammad Wazi, a real-life person labeled a terrorist. At first, I hesitated because of the potential stigma. But knowing the system failed him and having studied criminology, I understood his story. People who knew him encouraged me to do it. The film aimed to show the psyche behind his choices, and when we screened it in Cairo, audiences understood the context.
How do you prepare for auditions? Any rituals or advice you follow?
I always answer honestly, even simple questions. Sharing small personal stories breaks the ice and normalizes the situation, reducing nerves. It&rsquo;s about being genuine.

Strangest or most impactful advice you&rsquo;ve received from another actor?
Pierce Brosnan once told me, after I dislocated my finger during Giant: &ldquo;Health is wealth. Think about yourself first. Once the film is done, nobody will look after you.&rdquo; It reminded me to prioritize my health, even when immersed in work.
Do rumors ever make you respond publicly?
I stick with, if I haven&rsquo;t said it, it isn&rsquo;t true. I focus on my work and let the rest navigate itself.

Your training for Giant sounds intense. Any turning point where the character clicked?
We had 12-hour training days, almost every day, cramming six months of prep into a short period. Working with the stunt team and choreographer, and mastering the accent and style, the character finally felt real.
If a film were made about your life, who would you want to portray you and what genre?
Daniel Day-Lewis, and it would be a comedy, imagine him playing me!
Most unexpected award or nomination?
For In Camera, a Manchester-based film by Nakash Khalid. We were just having fun, and I got a 'Best Supporting Actor' nomination. It was a twisty, psychological, and funny film, and the recognition was unexpected.
Upcoming films, 100 Nights of Hero? Can you tell us about your character?
I play Jerome, a king whose friend makes a wager about his wife&rsquo;s loyalty. The film is a historical fantasy romance with comedy injected by director Julia Jackman. She gave me freedom to make the character my own.
About Stories (Al Qasas)?
It&rsquo;s an Egyptian anthology drama exploring family and cultural tales. I joined Nelly Karim and director Abu Bakr Shawky. The film was warmly received at the Red Sea and Carthage Film Festivals. The story felt unique in Egypt, and I was drawn to Abu Bakr&rsquo;s vision.
Switching between films like &ldquo;Giant&rdquo; and &ldquo;Stories,&rdquo; how do you navigate such different worlds?
My approach to characters remains consistent. Professionalism on set is key. Nelly Karim is incredible, and I feel lucky to work with both teams.

Probably Stories, as it reminds me of family chaos and warmth, which I miss in London.

Fantasy is one. I&rsquo;ve done Marvel and Star Wars, but there&rsquo;s always room for more.

When Egyptian actress and content creator Salma Maher speaks about success, she avoids the language of overnight breakthroughs and relentless positivity. Instead, her conversation on Brain Busters on Nile FM centers on discipline, routine, and the often uncomfortable reality of starting again.
Salma, the founder of the digital storytelling project Kalam Folan, has built her work around short, five-to-six-minute filmed scenes inspired by real stories sent in by members of the public. The premise is simple but resonant: to remind people that they are not alone, even when life derails carefully laid plans.
Speaking to Basmah on the show, Salma reflected on how easily motivation is overvalued. &ldquo;Motivation and inspiration are very unreliable,&rdquo; she said, arguing that consistency matters more than emotional highs. Her approach favors small, achievable daily goals over dramatic bursts of enthusiasm, a philosophy that mirrors a growing shift in how creatives discuss productivity.
 Why Discipline Matters More Than Motivation Reflecting on how people often rely on motivation to begin new goals, Salma explained that inspiration can be misleading. &ldquo;Motivation and inspiration are very unreliable,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;They come and go. What really matters is persistence and discipline.&rdquo; Instead of waiting for the perfect emotional push, Salma encourages setting small, daily goals. &ldquo;By putting achievable goals every day, things get done. And if you don&rsquo;t accomplish something today, that&rsquo;s okay. Tomorrow is another day,&rdquo; she added. &ldquo;Don&rsquo;t be hard on yourself, and don&rsquo;t expect perfection. It&rsquo;s okay to start by doing things wrong. One day you will get there.&rdquo;

After launching her project in 2020, a series of unfortunate events forced her to step away for years. &ldquo;My page was hacked, and I felt like I had to start from scratch,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;People who were helping me moved on, and I was afraid to come back. When you stop, you start questioning yourself, your talent, your worth, and whether people will still accept you.&rdquo; What ultimately helped her return was a shift in mindset. &ldquo;I decided to stop waiting for results and focus on enjoying the process,&rdquo; she explained. &ldquo;When I look back at my life one day, I want to know that I lived it fully and did the things I loved. I do not want to regret not trying.&rdquo; For Salma, results are never guaranteed, but fulfillment comes from showing up every day and doing meaningful work.
 How Learning Keeps the Excitement Alive Like many creatives, Salma admitted that excitement can fade over time. Her solution is continuous learning. &ldquo;Learning new techniques and methods always brings excitement back,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;No matter how advanced you are, there is always something new to learn.&rdquo; She also finds inspiration in beginners. &ldquo;I love taking courses with beginners because I see the excitement in their eyes. It reminds me why I started in the first place and helps me reconnect with the basics.&rdquo;
 Dealing With Discouraging Voices Creating something new often invites criticism, especially when dreams are not socially approved. Salma believes the key is choosing the right environment. &ldquo;We need to remove ourselves from discouraging circles,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;Be around people who support you and believe in your dreams.&rdquo; When negativity comes from close circles, her advice is simple: protect your plans. &ldquo;You do not have to explain everything to everyone. Keep your dreams to yourself, work quietly, and when you succeed, they will support you.&rdquo;

You are patient with outcomes but disciplined with effort.&rdquo;
 Learning to Fail and Accept It Fear of failure, Salma believes, is one of the biggest obstacles to growth. &ldquo;In improve, there is a rule called &lsquo;fail big,&rsquo;&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;Sometimes failure is your starting point. It is where you learn and experiment.&rdquo; By embracing mistakes rather than fearing them, creativity becomes freer and less restricted. &ldquo;When you fail big, you sometimes end up doing something really beautiful because you are not overthinking anymore.&rdquo;

Sometimes people project their own fears onto you. Accepting that helped me grow.&rdquo; Her final message remains simple yet powerful: surround yourself with supportive people, trust the process, and keep creating, even when the road feels uncertain.

According to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), Egypt is set to experience stable weather conditions during the early hours of Tuesday, 30 December. Temperatures are expected to become milder during the daytime before dropping sharply again at night across most parts of the country.
The EMA added that there is a chance of light rainfall over parts of the northwestern coasts and the northern Delta at intermittent intervals. Low-level clouds are also expected, alongside active winds affecting northern regions, extending to Greater Cairo and the Canal cities. These conditions may lead to light, non-impactful drizzle over parts of the northwestern coasts from time to time.

Gold showed slight strength across key categories. Twenty-four-karat gold was priced at EGP 6,937 for buying and EGP 6,960 for selling. Twenty-one-karat gold, the most commonly traded grade in the local market, stood at EGP 6,070 for buying and EGP 6,090 for selling. Meanwhile, the price of a gold coin increased to EGP 49,320.

The US dollar recorded a marginal increase against the Egyptian pound in early trading on Monday, 29 December, rising by just one piaster to EGP 47.61, according to data from the National Bank of Egypt (NBE).
The greenback inched up from EGP 47.55 at the previous close, reflecting very limited movement in the foreign exchange market amid ongoing fluctuations.
Despite the slight uptick, banking sources reported broadly stable exchange rates during the session, with major foreign currencies showing only minimal changes against the Egyptian pound, indicating continued stability within a narrow trading range.

According to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), Egypt is set to experience very cold conditions during the early hours of Monday, 29 December, with temperatures becoming milder during the day before falling sharply again at night across most regions.
The EMA said there is a chance of moderate rainfall, which may become heavy at times, over the northern coasts, the northern Delta, and North Sinai at intermittent intervals. Light to moderate rain is also expected over parts of the southern Delta.
Active winds are forecast to lead to rough sea conditions in parts of South Sinai, the Gulf of Suez, and the Canal cities. Their impact may extend to Greater Cairo, increasing the overall feeling of cold, particularly along the Mediterranean coastal areas, including Salloum, Matrouh, El Alamein, Alexandria, Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, Damietta, Port Said, El Arish and Rafah.
The latest satellite imagery indicates the continued presence of rainy thunderclouds over Alexandria Governorate and the northern Delta, including Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, Damietta, and Dakahlia.

On Sunday, 7th of September 2025, the &ldquo;blood moon&rdquo; will light up the sky for more than five hours; one of the year&rsquo;s most breathtaking astronomical events.

Why the Moon Turns Red
A lunar eclipse happens when the sun, Earth, and moon align, and Earth blocks direct sunlight from reaching the moon. Instead, the moon reflects sunlight filtered through Earth&rsquo;s atmosphere. Because the atmosphere scatters blue light and lets red light pass through, the moon takes on a dramatic reddish glow; the same effect that makes sunrises and sunsets look red. Dust or clouds can make the color appear even deeper.
Where to Watch
The eclipse will be visible across Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, and parts of South America. Viewers in North America, however, will only catch partial phases of the event.

In a rare astronomical phenomenon, Earth is completing its rotation today, Tuesday, 22nd July, in less than 24 hours&mdash;making it the shortest day ever recorded in human history. The planet will spin 1.34 milliseconds faster than the standard 86,400 seconds, surpassing the previous record set just two weeks ago on 9th July.
Although the difference is imperceptible to most, scientists say it reflects a puzzling trend in Earth&rsquo;s rotational behaviour. If this acceleration continues, global timekeepers may need to subtract a second from atomic clocks by 2029&mdash;a historic adjustment known as a &ldquo;negative leap second&rdquo; that has never been implemented before.&nbsp;
Experts remain uncertain about the root cause of the acceleration. Theories range from shifts in the Earth's molten core and melting glaciers to atmospheric changes and a weakening magnetic field. For centuries, the Earth has been gradually slowing due to the moon&rsquo;s tidal pull. But new data from NASA suggest we may have reached a phase of orbital equilibrium, unexpectedly speeding up the planet&rsquo;s rotation.
Geologists and astrophysicists are closely monitoring the development, as it could affect everything from satellite navigation to global timekeeping systems in the near future.
