Mendes, who has appeared on several international fight cards, sees the event as a significant milestone in his developing career.

Speaking about his first reaction to fighting in Egypt, Mendes said the opportunity feels special.
&ldquo;This is like a dream come true. Being here in Egypt on such a big stage is something I have never experienced before,&rdquo; he told NileFM.
For the developing prospect, competing at a global event in one of the world&rsquo;s most iconic locations makes the moment even more meaningful.
Boxing Meets History
Mendes also highlighted the significance of hosting a major boxing event in a place known for its rich history and culture.
&ldquo;It&rsquo;s good news for boxing to have such a big event here,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;To be part of something connected to Egypt&rsquo;s history and culture is a great honour for me.&rdquo;

First Visit to Egypt
While Mendes is currently focused on his upcoming fight, he also expressed excitement about experiencing more of the country.
&ldquo;This is my first time in Egypt,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;Right now I&rsquo;m focused on the match, but the people here are very kind. After the fight, I would love to visit more places.&rdquo;

Nicknamed &ldquo;The King of Kickboxing,&rdquo; Verhoeven enters the fight as one of the most dominant heavyweight champions of his generation, now taking on a new challenge far beyond his comfort zone.

Explaining his decision to take the fight at this stage of his career, Verhoeven emphasised his desire for something different.
&ldquo;I was looking for a new challenge. I wanted something new,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;Transitioning from kickboxing to boxing is a huge challenge.&rdquo;
He highlighted one of the major differences between the two sports, particularly the increased endurance demands.

&ldquo;Being here in Egypt feels like a full-circle moment for me,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;My mother was here 30 years ago. She took beautiful pictures here. Sadly, she passed away earlier this year.&rdquo;
He added that he arrived early to reconnect with those memories.
&ldquo;I came early to take the same pictures she took.&rdquo;

&ldquo;The pyramids are one of the Seven Wonders of the World,&rdquo; Verhoeven said. &ldquo;When I heard I would fight here, I thought, &lsquo;This is incredible.&rsquo; It made me even more excited.&rdquo;

From playing guitar as a child to performing live electronic sets around the world, Egyptian producer and musician Hatem El Chiati has built a unique musical identity that blends electronic sounds with cultural influences. During his appearance on NileFM&rsquo;s &ldquo;Let&rsquo;s Dance with Nancy,&rdquo; El Chiati opened up about his journey in music, his experiences in Berlin, and the creative process behind some of his most successful tracks. A Live Performer, Not Just a DJ El Chiati explains that his performances go beyond traditional DJ sets. &ldquo;People often think I&rsquo;m a DJ, but I&rsquo;m actually a live act. With that statement, Egyptian-Australian singer Isadora captured the attention of audiences across Egypt, proudly embracing her roots and speaking openly about her connection to the country.
Born in Egypt and raised between Australia and New Zealand, Isadora has developed a distinctive artistic identity shaped by two cultures. Her music blends Arabic and English influences, mixing trap-inspired production with traditional Arabic melodies to reflect her dual cultural experience.
Throughout her career, Isadora has frequently drawn on memories of Egypt that continue to shape her both emotionally and creatively. From growing up listening to artists such as Amr Diab to now remixing some of his music, she says Egyptian culture remains central to her sound. Food, family memories and Egyptian-inspired aesthetics also continue to influence both her identity and visual style.
In an exclusive interview with NileFM, Isadora spoke about her global journey, her connection to Egypt, her upcoming Arabic-language music and the next chapter of her artistic career.

You were born in Egypt and later raised between Australia and New Zealand. Can you tell us more about your journey and how these different cultures shaped you as an artist? To be honest, like a lot of diaspora, I&rsquo;m stuck between the feeling of having many homes and no home at all. Being born in Cairo, raised abroad and visiting every year exposed me to a stark cultural dichotomy. But I&rsquo;m proud to say it&rsquo;s created duality in my music and duality in me. I embody so much of my Australian upbringing but deeply connect to Egyptian culture. Just like my music, one moment you&rsquo;ll hear a trap-style 808 and the next an oud melody.

I grew up listening to everything from Fairuz to Amr Diab. My teta and mum were also musicians in Cairo, so Egyptian influence is naturally sprinkled throughout my music. Some of my songs feature Arabic-inspired percussion, scales and key changes, as well as traditional instrumentation. Sometimes I even incorporate Arabic and French lyrics, reflecting the languages I grew up with at home. My next single, Shahid, meaning &ldquo;Witness&rdquo;, is my first fully Arabic song and includes live nay accompaniment. I&rsquo;m nervous but excited for people to hear it. You often share videos of yourself practising Arabic. What motivates you to keep learning the language, and how challenging is it when writing or singing Arabic songs? It&rsquo;s honestly been such a journey. I went through phases of giving up after trying and being laughed at, by family and strangers who probably meant well, but it still hurt. No matter how many times I wanted to stop though, something kept drawing me back. The language feels familiar and comforting, and it helps me connect to my family in Egypt. Despite people telling me I&rsquo;ll never sound Egyptian or truly be Egyptian, it&rsquo;s always been a dream of mine to sing and write in Arabic.

Despite all the controversy that sometimes gets attention, I see so many people supporting and encouraging me for staying connected to my roots and representing where I come from. I hear it from diaspora communities in the West all the way to people born and raised in small towns across Egypt. I also love hearing Egyptian girls say I&rsquo;ve made them feel confident and seen. Is there something in Egypt you are still hoping to experience or try for the first time? So much. Although I&rsquo;ve travelled around Egypt, I&rsquo;ve only scratched the surface. My aunty used to take us to the White Desert and promised that one day we would camp there, it&rsquo;s still on my bucket list. And everyone tells me the North Coast is the place to be in summer, so I&rsquo;m hoping to visit later this year. Your makeup and visual style often reflect Egyptian aesthetics and culture. How did you develop this unique look and turn it into part of your artistic identity? I&rsquo;ve always been fascinated by Pharaonic art, style and makeup. Whenever I visit an Egyptian museum or exhibition, I&rsquo;m drawn to displays of jewellery, stones and charms. My signature Eye of Horus look really became part of who I am last year, but the inspiration dates back to 2018 when I saw a runway design featuring it on a male model. It stayed with me ever since. In 2019, I recreated the look for my song Call Me Habibi, but it took years before I felt confident enough to fully embrace it as part of my identity. It&rsquo;s more than makeup, though. My name comes from Isis, the ancient Egyptian goddess of healing and protection, and mother of Horus, which is where the Eye of Horus symbol comes from. When I wear it, I feel powerful, protected and connected to my roots.

What challenges do you face when blending these two musical worlds? Blending those two worlds can be challenging. Musically, it&rsquo;s difficult finding artists and producers who can create contemporary pop and R&amp;B while also understanding the nuances and scales of Arabic music. Luckily, I&rsquo;ve found incredible musicians from different backgrounds; Egyptian, Algerian, Australian and Spanish, who can bring those worlds together with care and respect. It&rsquo;s important to me to do both styles justice and not treat Arabic fusion as a passing trend. For me, it&rsquo;s not a trend at all; it&rsquo;s identity. Socially, I also face criticism whenever I lean too far into either world, but the reality is I can&rsquo;t please everyone, and more importantly, I don&rsquo;t feel the need to. Can you tell us about your upcoming projects or any new music fans should look forward to? I&rsquo;m currently working on my debut album, writing and recording between Sydney, London and Cairo. It&rsquo;s a world I&rsquo;m excited for people to step into, exploring the diaspora experience and everything that comes with it; the highs, lows, passion and heartbreak. My next release will be my first Arabic song on 29 May. It&rsquo;s an Arabic version of my previous track Witness. I felt it would sound beautiful in Arabic and, with the help of Egyptian singer-songwriter Layal, I think it really does. This feels like my moment to prove I can sing in Arabic. Even if it&rsquo;s imperfect, it still carries the emotion and heart of an Arabic song.

When you are in Egypt, what are some of your favourite foods, places or experiences that make you feel connected to the country? My mum always laughs at this, but every time I land in Egypt, I go straight from the plane to eat koshari. It&rsquo;s a must. One of my favourite places to eat is a small spot in Abbasseya, hand on heart, they make the best falafel in the world. I could talk about food all day, honestly. But what makes me feel most connected is seeing my family, my gido, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends. That&rsquo;s what makes me feel most at home. If you could collaborate with an Egyptian artist in the future, who would it be and why? My favourite artist right now is Tul8te. I&rsquo;d love to collaborate with him one day. What advice would you give to singers who dream of building an international career like yours? I think the first thing you have to do, and this applies to all areas of life, is make sure you really know who you are and what matters to you, otherwise someone else will define that for you. Love yourself and be confident enough in who you are that nobody can bring you down. Once you have that, you&rsquo;re unstoppable.

Being part of a DJ duo may appear challenging but collaborating with someone who shares the same creative vision while offering different strengths can create a distinctive musical balance. That is the approach taken by Karim Attallah and May Adam when they launched their duo project, Paar Muzik. One comes from a dance background with a strong connection to rhythm and movement, while the other draws inspiration from electronic music and nightlife culture.

NileFM speaks to Paar Muzik about how the idea of forming a DJ duo first emerged, the challenges they have faced, and what lies ahead for the project.
Who are you away from the music? Tell us about your lives and the experiences that shaped your journey into DJing. Away from music, we&rsquo;re both inspired by people, culture, travel, and everyday experiences. One of us comes from a dance background, deeply connected to rhythm, movement, and performance, while the other was more influenced by electronic music, nightlife culture, and discovering sounds from around the world. Music was always present in our lives, and DJing became a natural way to express ourselves creatively and connect with people. Production also became a huge part of our journey early on. Spending time in the studio and building music together became the real connection behind the scenes and helped shape our identity as artists.

It developed naturally through spending time together around music, exchanging ideas, and discovering how aligned we were creatively. From the beginning, we shared the same mindset and a common passion for music, energy, and creating experiences for people. As we spent more time playing and producing together, we decided to officially launch the brand and turn it into a serious shared project with its own identity and direction. As a duo, how do your different musical backgrounds or perspectives influence your sound and creativity together? Our differences are one of our biggest strengths. One of us leans more toward Afro rhythms, emotion, and performance energy through dance, while the other is drawn to tech-house grooves, structure, and high-energy transitions. That balance helps us create sets that feel both emotional and energetic. Our sound today is heavily inspired by Afro-melodic elements, blending percussion, deep atmospheres, and hypnotic grooves in a way that feels immersive and powerful on the dancefloor. You are known for immersive sets that sit at the crossroads of Afro-house and tech-house. How would you describe your signature sound, and how do you balance both styles in your sets? We&rsquo;d describe our sound as rhythmic, emotional, and atmospheric. Afro-house brings warmth and storytelling, while tech-house adds movement and energy. We also take inspiration from melodic house to create a deeper emotional journey within our sets. The balance comes from reading the crowd and understanding when to build emotion versus when to push intensity. What have been the biggest challenges you have faced as a DJ duo so far? One of the biggest challenges is maintaining a shared vision while still respecting each other&rsquo;s individuality. Being a duo requires constant communication, creatively and professionally. At the same time, the electronic music scene moves very fast, so we always try to stay connected to what&rsquo;s happening globally. Attending events like IMS Dubai helped us grow our network, build industry connections, and stay updated with the latest trends and sounds shaping the scene. How do you usually make creative decisions when preparing a set or planning a performance? Preparation is very collaborative for us. We spend a lot of time sharing music, testing ideas, and discussing the atmosphere we want to create. Usually, it starts with a feeling rather than a strict tracklist. A lot of our inspiration also comes from production and experimenting in the studio with Afro melodic sounds and emotional progressions. When you don&rsquo;t fully agree on a track or musical direction during a set, how do you handle it in the moment? Trust plays a huge role. During a set, there&rsquo;s no time for long discussions, so we rely on instinct and experience. Usually, if one of us strongly feels a direction, the other supports it, and we adjust naturally together. Over time, we&rsquo;ve learned how to understand each other&rsquo;s energy without needing to say much.&nbsp;
How does it feel to be featured as &ldquo;DJ of the Week&rdquo; on NileFM? Was this recognition expected, or did it come as a surprise? It honestly felt amazing. It was a very motivating moment for us because we&rsquo;ve always focused more on the music and the experience rather than recognition itself. Being featured by NileFM definitely encouraged us to keep pushing our sound further.

We&rsquo;re currently focusing heavily on production and developing original music that reflects our identity more clearly. We have exciting upcoming scheduled releases blending Afro-house and melodic house with deeper electronic textures, alongside exciting collaborations and performances to be announced soon.

According to Billboard Arabia, &ldquo;Samma3ony&rdquo; will feature around 10 tracks and include collaborations with some of the region&rsquo;s most prominent lyricists, composers, and producers, among them Tamer Hussein, Amir Teima, Aziz El Shafie, Mohamed Yehia, Nader Hamdy, Toma, Tamim, and Wissam Abdel Moneim.
The album has also sparked speculation over a possible duet with Sherine Abdel Wahab, which would mark the first collaboration between the two Egyptian stars, a pairing fans have long anticipated.
Hamaki also contributed as a composer on several tracks, adding a more personal dimension to a project expected to blend romantic themes with upbeat melodies and contemporary rhythms.
During his recent concert in Alexandria, Hamaki revealed that the album rollout will begin with the release of individual singles ahead of the full project.

From the coastal city of Alexandria to performances across international venues, DJ Shika Saber is set to take over this week&rsquo;s edition of NileFM&rsquo;s DJ of the Week. For the DJ and producer, however, music is about more than filling dance floors. It is about telling stories through sound.
Listeners can tune in at 10:00 p.m. to hear Shika Saber present a one hour set on NileFM, blending Afro house and melodic house influences inspired by his travels and live performances.
Ahead of the show, NileFM spoke to the DJ about his musical beginnings, international experiences, and approach to creating sets that connect with audiences.
Early Beginnings In Alexandria
1. Could you tell us about your journey and what motivated you to become a DJ?
My journey started in Alexandria, where I was surrounded by a diverse musical atmosphere. I have always been drawn to rhythm and storytelling through sound, and Afro house and melodic house gave me a way to express both emotion and energy. What motivated me was the ability to connect people on a deeper level. Seeing how music can unite a crowd regardless of background pushed me to pursue DJing seriously and evolve into music production as well.

International Influence On His Sound
2. You frequently travel between cities such as Jordan and Dubai. In what ways has this international exposure influenced your work?
Travelling has greatly expanded my perspective. Each place has its own vibe and audience energy. Dubai is very dynamic and high energy, while Jordan has a more soulful and intimate feel. This contrast has helped me balance my sets between powerful drops and emotional melodies, making my sound more versatile and globally appealing.
3. How do different cultural environments impact your musical style and set selection?
I always read the crowd and consider the cultural context. In some places, people connect more with deep, melodic journeys, while others respond more to groove driven Afro rhythms. I adapt by blending both worlds, keeping my signature sound while tailoring the energy and progression to suit the environment.
Memorable Performances And Creative Process
4. Have you experienced a particularly memorable moment while performing live?
One of the most memorable moments was seeing a crowd completely locked into a melodic Afro track that I produced. It was one of those moments when everyone is in sync, and you instantly feel the connection. That kind of energy reminds me why I do this.
5. Could you describe your process for preparing and structuring a DJ set?
I usually start by understanding the setting and audience. Then I build a journey, beginning with deeper atmospheric sounds, gradually increasing the energy and creating emotional peaks. I organise my tracks by mood and key to ensure smooth transitions, but I always leave room for improvisation depending on the crowd&rsquo;s reaction.
6. Was there a defining moment in your career that confirmed your potential for success as a DJ?
Yes, performing outside Egypt for the first time was a turning point. Seeing an international audience connect with my sound gave me confidence that what I am doing can reach beyond borders and has real potential.

7. Do you have a notable memory associated with NileFM that encouraged your application for DJ of the Week?
NileFM has always been a platform that supports fresh talent and modern sounds. I have followed it for years, and being part of it felt like the right step to share my music with a wider audience in Egypt.

8. How do you ensure your music library remains current and relevant?
I constantly search for new music, follow emerging artists and stay connected with global trends in Afro house and melodic house. I also produce my own tracks, which helps me maintain a unique and up to date sound.
9. Should audiences anticipate any unique elements in your DJ of the Week performance?
Definitely. I will be blending Afro house rhythms with melodic elements, including some of my own unreleased tracks. The set is designed as a journey, something immersive that builds emotion and energy throughout the hour.
Advice For Emerging DJs
10. What advice would you offer to aspiring DJs aiming to perform internationally and on platforms such as NileFM?
Stay authentic to your sound but be adaptable. Consistency is key. Keep practising, keep learning, and do not rush the process. Networking and understanding different audiences are just as important as technical skills. Most importantly, let your passion guide you.

Playing music for others is what continues to drive Cairo-based DJ and producer Karim Auf as he builds his place within Egypt&rsquo;s growing electronic music scene. Speaking to NileFM programme &ldquo;Let&rsquo;s Dance with Nancy&rdquo;, Auf reflected on his musical journey, the evolution of his sound and the moments that shaped his career. Beyond The Decks Music has been a central part of Auf&rsquo;s life for more than 15 years. Drawing inspiration from everyday sounds, his influences span several genres, including jazz and rock. His approach to DJing, he says, is centred on emotion and storytelling. &ldquo;My goal is to take the audience on a journey through music,&rdquo; he says. Despite regularly performing in nightlife venues and festivals, Auf describes himself as someone who enjoys a quieter lifestyle away from the stage. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m a very domestic person. I like having my own space and time to explore nature and sounds,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;I also love cooking and fishing.&rdquo; From Music Fan To DJ Auf says his relationship with music began unexpectedly during his childhood. &ldquo;I had a portable PlayStation where I used to download music instead of playing games,&rdquo; he recalls. &ldquo;I loved controlling the music while my friends were dancing. That&rsquo;s when I realised this was what I wanted to do.&rdquo; His first experiences as a DJ came through house parties around 2008. &ldquo;My friends liked the music I played, so I recorded a two-hour set even though I didn&rsquo;t really know how to use the mixer properly yet,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;When I saw people dancing, I felt like Ti&euml;sto in that moment.&rdquo; Breakthrough Moments One of Auf&rsquo;s defining career moments came after producing a track inspired by the melodic techno sound associated with Afterlife. &ldquo;I created the track from the heart without expecting anything,&rdquo; he says. The track later gained support from international artists including Kevin de Vries and Tale of Us, helping expand his profile within the electronic music scene. &ldquo;In the past, the spotlight wasn&rsquo;t really on Egyptian producers,&rdquo; Auf says. &ldquo;Now there is much more international attention on the scene here.&rdquo; Sharing Stages With International Artists Auf says success came gradually rather than through a single breakthrough moment. &ldquo;I just kept playing music and believing in myself,&rdquo; he says. Among the artists who have influenced him most is Ben B&ouml;hmer. &ldquo;I played with him last summer, and it was magical,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;He inspires me all the time.&rdquo; He also described performing alongside Mathame at an Alter event as a major milestone. &ldquo;It was a challenging slot because I was playing after one of the giants,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;The challenge was keeping the energy high and letting the crowd stay and party with me, even though I was the final act.&rdquo; The Story Behind &ldquo;Breakaway&rdquo; Auf also discussed &ldquo;Breakaway&rdquo;, his collaboration with Zinnian Abdu. &ldquo;We spent hours in the studio working on small details until we reached the final version,&rdquo; he says. The track later became part of his performances outside Egypt, including a show in AlUla in Saudi Arabia. Egypt&rsquo;s Growing Electronic Scene According to Auf, Egypt&rsquo;s electronic music scene continues to expand rapidly. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s booming, but it&rsquo;s still developing,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;Egyptian DJs are exploring more opportunities internationally, and we have amazing talent here.&rdquo; He believes Egyptian audiences bring a unique energy to live events. &ldquo;I&rsquo;ve seen crowds around the world, but Egyptians definitely know how to party,&rdquo; he says. What&rsquo;s Next? Auf revealed that he is currently working on a remix with producer Zany from Fade Republic, which is expected to be released next month. He also confirmed an upcoming performance in Egypt alongside Magdalena on 16 May.

Hot weather is expected during the daytime across most regions. Conditions will remain moderate along the northern coast, while southern Upper Egypt is forecast to experience very hot temperatures. Nighttime weather is expected to be mild. Winds ranging between 30 and 40 km/h are forecast across much of the country, helping to ease temperatures in northern areas. The countdown has begun for the release of &ldquo;Seven Dogs&rdquo;, the upcoming action thriller starring Karim Abdel Aziz, Ahmed Ezz and Monica Bellucci in what is being described as one of the most ambitious Arab film productions to date. According to Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of Saudi Arabia&rsquo;s General Entertainment Authority, the film is set to premiere across the Arab world on 27 May 2026, screening in more than 600 cinemas across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. The production is also expected to reach more than 26,000 screens globally, making it one of the widest international releases for an Arab film. Ahead of its premiere, a behind-the-scenes special focusing on the making of the film and its large-scale action sequences will air on 22 May 2026.

Egypt is expected to witness hot and dusty weather conditions across much of the country on Sunday, 17 May 2026, with temperatures in Cairo forecast to reach 41&deg;C, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).
The authority said daytime conditions will be very hot nationwide, while temperatures at night are expected to remain moderate to warm.
Strong winds, ranging between 35 and 45km/h, are also forecast to affect several regions, including the Western Desert, the northern coast, the Nile Delta, Greater Cairo, the Suez Canal cities, Sinai, Upper Egypt, Lower Egypt, and parts of the Red Sea governorate.
The EMA warned that the active winds could stir up sand and dust, reducing horizontal visibility to below 1,000 metres in some areas.
Meteorologists also indicated there is a slight possibility of low clouds forming over scattered parts of northern Egypt, Greater Cairo and the Suez Canal region. Light drizzle may occur in limited areas, although it is not expected to significantly affect daily activities.
Authorities advised residents to drink plenty of water and fluids throughout the day to avoid dehydration, particularly during peak afternoon temperatures.
People were also urged to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and to wear loose, light-coloured cotton clothing suitable for the hot weather.
The EMA further cautioned motorists about reduced visibility caused by dust and sand in exposed areas during periods of strong wind activity.

From Threat to Teammate
A lot of creatives are changing the game; AI isn&rsquo;t the enemy, it&rsquo;s the new collaborator. Producers are using it to test weird sounds they&rsquo;d never try otherwise. Content creators lean on it to beat blank-page panic or tighten a messy first draft.
Grimes basically set the tone for this mindset. She told fans to go ahead and use AI versions of her voice in their music, just split the royalties if it makes money. No lawsuits, no drama. Just, &ldquo;Let&rsquo;s see what happens.&rdquo;
&nbsp;But then there&rsquo;s the other side. Those viral AI tracks with &ldquo;Drake&rdquo; and &ldquo;The Weeknd&rdquo; last year? Neither artist stepped in a booth. It blew up the whole conversation around consent, identity, and who actually owns a sound.
The Copyright Mess
This is where it gets tense. AI models train on massive amounts of existing work; songs, scripts, paintings, and photos. A lot of it is copyrighted. Most of it was used without permission.
That&rsquo;s why the lawsuits keep coming. The Writers Guild of America drew a hard line during the strikes: AI can&rsquo;t write your screenplay. Human writers stay in control.
Illustrators and photographers are saying the same thing. If your art was used to teach a machine that now generates images in your style, and you weren&rsquo;t asked or paid, that&rsquo;s a problem.&nbsp;
So What&rsquo;s Happening in Egypt?
&nbsp;Cairo&rsquo;s creative scene is already testing the waters. Open TikTok or Instagram and you&rsquo;ll find young Egyptian producers dropping AI-assisted beats, designers using it for quick edits, and digital artists experimenting with new styles.
&nbsp;For a lot of them, AI isn&rsquo;t scary. It&rsquo;s leverage. In a digital economy where speed and volume matter, being able to pitch three solid concepts before noon instead of one by Thursday is a game-changer.
The questions we&rsquo;re still figuring out: Who&rsquo;s teaching people how to use these tools well? Are agencies, labels, and studios ready for how fast this is moving? And if access isn&rsquo;t equal, who gets left behind?
We&rsquo;ve Been Here Before
Every major creative tool started with panic. Photoshop was going to kill photography. Auto-Tune was going to kill real singers. Drum machines were going to kill drummers.
One analyst told the BBC: &ldquo;Every innovation in creative tools starts with fear. Then we realize it just expands what&rsquo;s possible. The human part doesn&rsquo;t disappear, it just moves.&rdquo;
AI can generate, remix, and suggest all day. But it doesn&rsquo;t get obsessed with a weird idea at 2 am. It doesn&rsquo;t have taste. It doesn&rsquo;t have a point of view or a story it needs to tell.

So maybe the question isn&rsquo;t &ldquo;Can AI be creative?&rdquo;

Egypt&rsquo;s Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, has announced the launch of a nationwide medical and ambulance plan for Eid al-Fitr 2026, aimed at ensuring readiness across the health system during the holiday period.
The ministry said more than 700 government hospitals have increased emergency preparedness, with emergency departments and operating theatres functioning around the clock as travel and public gatherings rise.
Ambulance Services and Rapid Response
The plan includes enhanced deployment by the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, with around 3,000 ambulances operating across governorates and an additional 1,200 vehicles positioned at key locations.
Ambulances have been stationed near main roads, public squares, mosques, Eid prayer areas, parks, and other gathering points. Twenty-seven emergency rooms are linked to a central control centre to enable real-time monitoring and dispatch, while regional officials oversee high-traffic areas.

Focus on Major Roads
Authorities say priority has been given to major routes, including the coastal road between Damietta and Matrouh, the Cairo-Alexandria desert road, the agricultural road, as well as routes in South Sinai, the Red Sea, and Upper Egypt.
More than 600 fixed and mobile ambulance points have been deployed along these roads to allow rapid response to accidents.
Hospital Preparedness
Hospitals have also increased capacity in emergency and intensive care units. Around 250 facilities have been designated as primary referral centres on highways, supported by 54 rapid response teams for large-scale incidents.
Blood banks have been supplied with an additional 40,000 units, and medical stocks have been reinforced to meet potential demand.
Public Health Measures
The preventive medicine sector has intensified inspections of more than 35,000 food outlets, including sweet shops, restaurants, hotels, parks, and public transport hubs.
Around 1,200 inspection teams have been deployed to monitor compliance with health and safety standards.
Monitoring and Public Guidance
A central operations room will operate круглосуточно to monitor implementation of the plan.
The ministry has also urged the public to follow health guidelines, with the hotline 137 available for medical enquiries and emergency assistance throughout the Eid holiday.

Defining Herself as an Educator
Nesma shared her personal perspective on her role: &ldquo;So I&rsquo;m at the British Council, but how I define myself is as an educator, an education researcher. I&rsquo;ve been working in higher education for 15 years, which technically means research around higher education opportunities within the region, with the aim of informing the UK sector of these opportunities and then bridging, making connections, and building these relationships between the UK, Egypt, and beyond.&rdquo;
When asked why education is such a passion, she said, &ldquo;I&rsquo;ve always been a lifelong learner. Education is at the core of development, supporting people to find what they&rsquo;re meant to do and helping nations meet their goals. Knowledge is power, regardless of where it comes from.&rdquo;
What is Transnational Education?
The discussion then turned to transnational education (TNE). Nesma explained: &ldquo;Transnational education is when a university in one country offers a programme or a degree in another country, physically moving to meet students where they are. Instead of Egyptian students travelling to get a degree in the UK, the UK institution comes to Egypt and delivers that in-country through different models.&rdquo;
She highlighted the accessibility of this model: &ldquo;This increases access to international education for students who can&rsquo;t travel for personal, family, or financial reasons. You get the benefits of an international degree without ever having to leave home.&rdquo;
Models of Transnational Education
On international branch campuses: &ldquo;This is one of the independent models of transnational education where a university expands to a new country, offering the same programmes and teaching methods, and bringing its expertise into a new context. Students graduate with one international degree that is very similar to what they would receive if they studied abroad.&rdquo;
On joint degrees: &ldquo;Joint degrees are when two universities come together to develop a programme. You have international expertise alongside local knowledge, creating something relevant to students and their context. It&rsquo;s co-created, combining the strengths of both institutions into one degree accredited by both.&rdquo;
On digital learning: &ldquo;This could be fully online learning, where you&rsquo;re in Egypt studying at a university abroad, which is still transnational education. There are also blended models combining online and face-to-face learning, usually involving a local partner and an international partner. The international side may develop the virtual learning environment and resources, while local expertise ensures the content is contextualised. Exams, for example, may take place in Egypt, even if systems are hosted abroad.&rdquo;
Why Egypt is a Key Destination
Egypt has become the fourth-largest host country globally for UK transnational education programmes, with around 38,000 students enrolled. Nesma explained the appeal: &ldquo;Egypt has 3.8 million students in higher education, expected to grow to 5 million by 2030. There&rsquo;s strong demand, and universities in Egypt are keen to partner with international counterparts. Students trust UK institutions, and government strategies highlight internationalisation as a priority.&rdquo;
The Benefits for Students
The advantages extend beyond studying locally. Nesma highlighted global recognition and employability: &ldquo;You get a degree that can be used anywhere in the world without needing revalidation. Students also develop critical thinking, leadership, communication, and intercultural skills that are highly valued by employers.&rdquo;
She also emphasised the British Council&rsquo;s role: &ldquo;We work with governments, institutions, and learners. We help ensure supportive regulations, bring stakeholders together through networking, and guide students on accessing opportunities. Everything we do is research-driven to continuously improve partnerships.&rdquo;

Nesma discussed the recent regional Deep Dialogue in Cairo: &ldquo;Participants from 11 countries came together to learn from different models of transnational education. Egypt’s Health Minister Hails Magdi Yacoub Foundation for Life-Saving Cardiac Work

Egypt&rsquo;s General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) has granted full and preliminary accreditation to 32 health facilities across the country, according to decisions issued by the Supreme Committee for the Accreditation of Health Facilities.
The move is part of efforts to strengthen quality and patient safety standards in line with internationally recognised benchmarks set by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua).
Officials say the accreditations aim to improve the efficiency of healthcare institutions and prepare them for integration into Egypt&rsquo;s Universal Health Insurance system, which seeks to expand access to safe and high-quality medical services nationwide.
As part of preparations for the system&rsquo;s second phase, Minya Governorate is expected to be among the first areas to implement the programme. The Supreme Committee renewed preliminary accreditation for Minya Oncology Center and granted preliminary accreditation to several hospitals in the governorate, including Samalut Oncology Hospital, El Adwa Central Hospital and Mallawi Liver and Gastroenterology Hospital.
The General Military Hospital in Alexandria, affiliated with the Armed Forces Medical Services, also received preliminary accreditation in accordance with GAHAR standards, reflecting ongoing efforts to strengthen quality and patient safety in healthcare delivery.
Officials say the latest accreditations represent another step in Egypt&rsquo;s broader strategy to standardise healthcare services, improve patient outcomes and prepare facilities for nationwide implementation of the Universal Health Insurance system.

Under the &ldquo;Rabies-Free Egypt 2030&rdquo; strategy, 293 stray dogs were vaccinated in a single day, as authorities shift from crisis management to long-term solutions. Egypt&rsquo;s Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation has launched the first field phase of its national campaign to vaccinate and sterilize stray dogs, starting in the Ain Shams district of Cairo, in a move aimed at protecting public health and addressing the stray dog issue through sustainable and humane measures. The campaign is part of the national strategy &ldquo;Rabies-Free Egypt 2030&rdquo; and reflects a clear policy shift from short-term crisis management to science-based, long-term solutions. Ain Shams was chosen as the starting point due to repeated public complaints and the need for early intervention to reduce health risks associated with rabies.

Japanese world champion Mizuki Hiruta has spoken about the responsibility of holding a world title and her upcoming fight against Egyptian challenger Mai Solimann during the historic &ldquo;Glory in Giza&rdquo; boxing event at the Giza Pyramids.

As the current WBO super flyweight world champion, Hiruta acknowledged that holding a title comes with a strong sense of responsibility.
&ldquo;I try to be responsible, and I work very hard to deserve this title,&rdquo; she said during the interview.
Hiruta emphasised the importance of maintaining discipline and dedication as a champion, while continuing to prove herself in every fight.
Respect for Her Opponent
Speaking about her upcoming opponent, Hiruta expressed respect for Egyptian boxer Mai Solimann, who is expected to have strong support from the local crowd.
&ldquo;I think Mai Solimann is a great boxer, and people here love her,&rdquo; Hiruta said.
