Reinventing the Summit After 10 Years
Speaking about the summit&rsquo;s new direction, Salama revealed that after celebrating 10 years, the team decided to pause and completely rethink the event.
&ldquo;When we started in 2014, there were no other events similar to us,&rdquo; she explained. &ldquo;We felt it was our responsibility to change the game again and reinvent the experience.&rdquo;
She noted that audiences today consume information differently and become bored quickly, making innovation essential. According to Salama, the global rise of AI, ongoing wars, and economic uncertainty pushed the team to rethink how creative professionals approach the future.
&ldquo;We wanted to create conversations with movers and shakers about how to reset, recalibrate, and reinvent yourself,&rdquo; she said.
Gen Z and the Pressure of Modern Success
Salama also reflected on the challenges facing younger generations, especially Gen Z.
She explained that today&rsquo;s generation is growing up in an era of intense competition and constant comparison driven by social media.
&ldquo;They feel pressured to become the next Mark Zuckerberg overnight,&rdquo; she said, adding that many young people panic easily and quickly lose interest because they are still trying to figure out who they truly want to become.
She stressed the importance of helping younger audiences understand that success takes time, patience, and self-discovery.
Egyptian Humor Is an Untapped Goldmine
One area Salama believes deserves far more attention is Egyptian humor online.
She praised the speed and creativity Egyptians demonstrate through memes and short-form content, describing it as a talent that could become globally marketable.

AI Should Enhance Creativity, Not Replace Humans
Discussing artificial intelligence, Salama highlighted the summit&rsquo;s long-standing relationship with emerging technology.
She proudly noted that the summit was among the first events in the region to host Sophia in 2017, followed by members of the team behind ChatGPT in 2021.
However, she warned against blindly depending on AI.
&ldquo;There&rsquo;s a difference between using AI to enhance your work and using it to replace people,&rdquo; she explained, pointing to creative jobs such as illustrators in advertising agencies that are increasingly threatened by automation and prompt-based AI tools.

&ldquo;We wanted to remove the screens and machines for a moment and bring people together to learn from each other,&rdquo; she said.

His journey began in the 1990s as a bass guitarist performing live with a band. However, when rehearsals became difficult due to college and life commitments, music found another way into his hands through turntables, mixers, and late nights spent perfecting transitions inspired by global DJs.
What started as a hobby turned into a deeper passion after being part of a band, learning everything related to music, and constantly developing himself to keep up with new trends. This Thursday on &ldquo;DJ of the Week&rdquo; on NileFM, DJ Carlos will take over the decks for one hour of dance, energy, and special surprises. Everything included in this set will be his personal remixes and edits, never before heard on radio.
NileFM speaks to Carlos, who reflects on a career built on passion, sound, and creating moments that stay with crowds long after the music fades. In this exclusive interview, he opens up about the evolution of his musical identity, the energy behind his sets, and the lessons music has taught him that still guide every performance. What first inspired you to become a DJ, and do you remember the moment you realised this was the path you wanted to follow?
Back in the &rsquo;90s, I was a band member, playing bass guitar, performing live, and rocking stages numerous times. However, when it became difficult to gather the band members for rehearsals and performances due to college studies and life commitments, I searched for an alternative way to keep my passion for music alive.
Creating mixtapes and CDs had also been a hobby since childhood, so I bought a mixer and started experimenting with mixing bit by bit until I figured it out by listening to transitions from global DJs that I admired. I would search for and download the two tracks, then try to recreate the transition until I perfected it.
It&rsquo;s not that difficult when you come from a musical background or play an instrument. The very first rave in Egypt was Ministry Of Sound at Roots Maadi in 1999, and I was lucky enough to be there. Watching a DJ perform live and unite the entire venue through sound was the moment I decided to follow this path.

You&rsquo;ve just been featured as NileFM&rsquo;s DJ of the Week. What does this recognition mean to you at this stage of your journey?
I&rsquo;m very thankful for the invitation and the feature. NileFM&rsquo;s airwaves were my home for more than 15 years and helped kick-start my career, as well as the careers of many other DJs. It will always remain a place for talent to shine and the birthplace of future stars.
Take us behind the scenes of preparing one of your DJ sets. How do you build the mood and energy before stepping behind the decks?
When you go to a fine restaurant for a meal consisting of appetisers, a main course, and dessert, all prepared by an experienced chef where every ingredient complements the next, to me, a DJ set is very similar.
It&rsquo;s a journey of sounds building up and transitioning through different energies to create unforgettable feelings for dancefloor lovers. Being prepared, rested, and focused are key elements of a great performance, alongside a few stomach butterflies.
Your mixes blend House, Afro House, Tribal, and multicultural electronic sounds. What attracts you to these styles, and how do they shape your musical identity?
I wouldn&rsquo;t limit myself to specific genres. Whatever feels right, I&rsquo;ll play. It&rsquo;s true that these are some of my favourite genres, but I also enjoy Progressive House, Deep House, Techno, Melodic Techno, and Tech House, and I&rsquo;ve played all of them.

When you&rsquo;re performing live, how do you read the crowd and decide when it&rsquo;s time to shift the energy of the set? On every dance floor, there are those who are there only for the music, to dance and have a great time, with no phones, keeping interactions to a minimum, feeling cleansing and feeding on sound energies. They&rsquo;ll dance all night as long as you&rsquo;re doing it right. Those are the ones to look for in a crowd, the thermometers that can give you an exact collective feeling of the whole dance floor. I want to give a shout-out to those great characters for guiding me and the whole room with their great energies.
You&rsquo;re coming back to NileFM, this time as DJ of the Week. How does it feel to return in this role, and what surprises did you prepare for listeners? Well, DJ of the Week or the DJ of every week, as it was for 15 years, is kind of the same to me. I&rsquo;ve got to give it my all. It&rsquo;s always a huge responsibility to play for millions in my hometown. So I prepared something very special for it. Everything included in this set is my personal remixes and edits and has never been heard before on any radio.

Is there a specific track or moment in a set that always creates magic on the dancefloor for you? Got to always have those silver bullets in your arsenal and tricks up your sleeve. It&rsquo;s that track that no one knows about and is guaranteed to be a future hit, or that nostalgic remix that I just finished and can&rsquo;t wait to drop and enjoy the reactions.
Over the years, what has been the most memorable comment you&rsquo;ve received while DJing? I&rsquo;m very humbled and thankful for all the great comments, compliments, criticism, and unforgettable reactions I got while playing. It fills my heart with joy and pushes me to get better. There&rsquo;s this comment that I received that really stands out, and it came not from an experienced raver but from a tycoon businessman. He said: &ldquo;You know Carlos, when you play, it&rsquo;s like your fingers have strings attached to everyone in the venue, connected to their bodies, brains, and hearts, and you move everyone like marionettes,&rdquo; as he kept moving his arms and fingers.
Electronic music is constantly evolving. How do you stay creative and keep your sound fresh in such a fast-moving scene? It was always about the &ldquo;selection&rdquo; and always will be. Playing what everyone knows, plays, and has on their phones, in their cars, and gyms is nice, don&rsquo;t get me wrong, but it&rsquo;s not for me. I want to play what you&rsquo;ve never heard before but that blows your mind away while listening to it on the spot, and that you&rsquo;ll remember the next day or tell your friends about, that monster remix of a song you know that I dropped, that new sound, or heartfelt melody or vocal line upon moving bass lines and beats. So the more you refine your selection, the more you&rsquo;ll reach a bigger audience.
Looking back at your experiences in the industry so far, what is the most important lesson music has taught you? People will always remember how you made them feel.

What advice would you give to young DJs who want to create their own sound and build a career in electronic music? Stay humbled and true to your roots. The day you feel you&rsquo;re bigger than the music or the crowd is the day that ends your career. Be prepared for rejection, don&rsquo;t take it personally, and have patience alongside consistency. Music is a message; if you&rsquo;re not in it to say something, then please don&rsquo;t. You have to walk the path with steady steps, no taxi rides or shortcuts, or you&rsquo;ll find the whole journey went to waste. Explaining his decision to take the fight at this stage of his career, Verhoeven emphasised his desire for something different.

From playing guitar as a child to performing live electronic sets around the world, Egyptian producer and musician Hatem El Chiati has built a unique musical identity that blends electronic sounds with cultural influences. During his appearance on NileFM&rsquo;s &ldquo;Let&rsquo;s Dance with Nancy,&rdquo; El Chiati opened up about his journey in music, his experiences in Berlin, and the creative process behind some of his most successful tracks. A Live Performer, Not Just a DJ El Chiati explains that his performances go beyond traditional DJ sets. &ldquo;People often think I&rsquo;m a DJ, but I&rsquo;m actually a live act. I perform my own productions live using instruments like guitar and keyboards, and I&rsquo;ve also started singing in the last five years.&rdquo; Growing Up With Music Music was a strong presence in his childhood, with his parents introducing him to a wide range of artists. &ldquo;My dad used to play albums during road trips, like Led Zeppelin, while my mom loved artists like Elton John and took me to concerts.&rdquo; He later discovered more artists who influenced his style, including Lana Del Rey, Florence + The Machine, and The Weeknd. Born in Egypt and raised between Australia and New Zealand, Isadora has developed a distinctive artistic identity shaped by two cultures. Her music blends Arabic and English influences, mixing trap-inspired production with traditional Arabic melodies to reflect her dual cultural experience.
Throughout her career, Isadora has frequently drawn on memories of Egypt that continue to shape her both emotionally and creatively. From growing up listening to artists such as Amr Diab to now remixing some of his music, she says Egyptian culture remains central to her sound. Food, family memories and Egyptian-inspired aesthetics also continue to influence both her identity and visual style.
In an exclusive interview with NileFM, Isadora spoke about her global journey, her connection to Egypt, her upcoming Arabic-language music and the next chapter of her artistic career.

You were born in Egypt and later raised between Australia and New Zealand. Can you tell us more about your journey and how these different cultures shaped you as an artist? To be honest, like a lot of diaspora, I&rsquo;m stuck between the feeling of having many homes and no home at all. Being born in Cairo, raised abroad and visiting every year exposed me to a stark cultural dichotomy. But I&rsquo;m proud to say it&rsquo;s created duality in my music and duality in me. I embody so much of my Australian upbringing but deeply connect to Egyptian culture. Just like my music, one moment you&rsquo;ll hear a trap-style 808 and the next an oud melody.

I grew up listening to everything from Fairuz to Amr Diab. My teta and mum were also musicians in Cairo, so Egyptian influence is naturally sprinkled throughout my music. Some of my songs feature Arabic-inspired percussion, scales and key changes, as well as traditional instrumentation. Sometimes I even incorporate Arabic and French lyrics, reflecting the languages I grew up with at home. My next single, Shahid, meaning &ldquo;Witness&rdquo;, is my first fully Arabic song and includes live nay accompaniment. I&rsquo;m nervous but excited for people to hear it. You often share videos of yourself practising Arabic. What motivates you to keep learning the language, and how challenging is it when writing or singing Arabic songs? It&rsquo;s honestly been such a journey. I went through phases of giving up after trying and being laughed at, by family and strangers who probably meant well, but it still hurt. No matter how many times I wanted to stop though, something kept drawing me back. The language feels familiar and comforting, and it helps me connect to my family in Egypt. Despite people telling me I&rsquo;ll never sound Egyptian or truly be Egyptian, it&rsquo;s always been a dream of mine to sing and write in Arabic.

Despite all the controversy that sometimes gets attention, I see so many people supporting and encouraging me for staying connected to my roots and representing where I come from. I hear it from diaspora communities in the West all the way to people born and raised in small towns across Egypt. I also love hearing Egyptian girls say I&rsquo;ve made them feel confident and seen. Is there something in Egypt you are still hoping to experience or try for the first time? So much. Although I&rsquo;ve travelled around Egypt, I&rsquo;ve only scratched the surface. My aunty used to take us to the White Desert and promised that one day we would camp there, it&rsquo;s still on my bucket list. And everyone tells me the North Coast is the place to be in summer, so I&rsquo;m hoping to visit later this year. Your makeup and visual style often reflect Egyptian aesthetics and culture. How did you develop this unique look and turn it into part of your artistic identity? I&rsquo;ve always been fascinated by Pharaonic art, style and makeup. Whenever I visit an Egyptian museum or exhibition, I&rsquo;m drawn to displays of jewellery, stones and charms. My signature Eye of Horus look really became part of who I am last year, but the inspiration dates back to 2018 when I saw a runway design featuring it on a male model. It stayed with me ever since. In 2019, I recreated the look for my song Call Me Habibi, but it took years before I felt confident enough to fully embrace it as part of my identity. It&rsquo;s more than makeup, though. My name comes from Isis, the ancient Egyptian goddess of healing and protection, and mother of Horus, which is where the Eye of Horus symbol comes from. When I wear it, I feel powerful, protected and connected to my roots.

What challenges do you face when blending these two musical worlds? Blending those two worlds can be challenging. Musically, it&rsquo;s difficult finding artists and producers who can create contemporary pop and R&amp;B while also understanding the nuances and scales of Arabic music. Luckily, I&rsquo;ve found incredible musicians from different backgrounds; Egyptian, Algerian, Australian and Spanish, who can bring those worlds together with care and respect. It&rsquo;s important to me to do both styles justice and not treat Arabic fusion as a passing trend. For me, it&rsquo;s not a trend at all; it&rsquo;s identity. Socially, I also face criticism whenever I lean too far into either world, but the reality is I can&rsquo;t please everyone, and more importantly, I don&rsquo;t feel the need to. Can you tell us about your upcoming projects or any new music fans should look forward to? I&rsquo;m currently working on my debut album, writing and recording between Sydney, London and Cairo. It&rsquo;s a world I&rsquo;m excited for people to step into, exploring the diaspora experience and everything that comes with it; the highs, lows, passion and heartbreak. My next release will be my first Arabic song on 29 May. It&rsquo;s an Arabic version of my previous track Witness. I felt it would sound beautiful in Arabic and, with the help of Egyptian singer-songwriter Layal, I think it really does. This feels like my moment to prove I can sing in Arabic. Even if it&rsquo;s imperfect, it still carries the emotion and heart of an Arabic song.

When you are in Egypt, what are some of your favourite foods, places or experiences that make you feel connected to the country? My mum always laughs at this, but every time I land in Egypt, I go straight from the plane to eat koshari. It&rsquo;s a must. One of my favourite places to eat is a small spot in Abbasseya, hand on heart, they make the best falafel in the world. I could talk about food all day, honestly. But what makes me feel most connected is seeing my family, my gido, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends. That&rsquo;s what makes me feel most at home. If you could collaborate with an Egyptian artist in the future, who would it be and why? My favourite artist right now is Tul8te. I&rsquo;d love to collaborate with him one day. What advice would you give to singers who dream of building an international career like yours? I think the first thing you have to do, and this applies to all areas of life, is make sure you really know who you are and what matters to you, otherwise someone else will define that for you. Love yourself and be confident enough in who you are that nobody can bring you down. Once you have that, you&rsquo;re unstoppable.

That is the approach taken by Karim Attallah and May Adam when they launched their duo project, Paar Muzik. One comes from a dance background with a strong connection to rhythm and movement, while the other draws inspiration from electronic music and nightlife culture.

Who are you away from the music? Tell us about your lives and the experiences that shaped your journey into DJing. Away from music, we&rsquo;re both inspired by people, culture, travel, and everyday experiences. One of us comes from a dance background, deeply connected to rhythm, movement, and performance, while the other was more influenced by electronic music, nightlife culture, and discovering sounds from around the world. Music was always present in our lives, and DJing became a natural way to express ourselves creatively and connect with people. Production also became a huge part of our journey early on. Spending time in the studio and building music together became the real connection behind the scenes and helped shape our identity as artists.

It developed naturally through spending time together around music, exchanging ideas, and discovering how aligned we were creatively. From the beginning, we shared the same mindset and a common passion for music, energy, and creating experiences for people. As we spent more time playing and producing together, we decided to officially launch the brand and turn it into a serious shared project with its own identity and direction. As a duo, how do your different musical backgrounds or perspectives influence your sound and creativity together? Our differences are one of our biggest strengths. One of us leans more toward Afro rhythms, emotion, and performance energy through dance, while the other is drawn to tech-house grooves, structure, and high-energy transitions. That balance helps us create sets that feel both emotional and energetic. Our sound today is heavily inspired by Afro-melodic elements, blending percussion, deep atmospheres, and hypnotic grooves in a way that feels immersive and powerful on the dancefloor. You are known for immersive sets that sit at the crossroads of Afro-house and tech-house. How would you describe your signature sound, and how do you balance both styles in your sets? We&rsquo;d describe our sound as rhythmic, emotional, and atmospheric. Afro-house brings warmth and storytelling, while tech-house adds movement and energy. We also take inspiration from melodic house to create a deeper emotional journey within our sets. The balance comes from reading the crowd and understanding when to build emotion versus when to push intensity. What have been the biggest challenges you have faced as a DJ duo so far? One of the biggest challenges is maintaining a shared vision while still respecting each other&rsquo;s individuality. Being a duo requires constant communication, creatively and professionally. At the same time, the electronic music scene moves very fast, so we always try to stay connected to what&rsquo;s happening globally. Attending events like IMS Dubai helped us grow our network, build industry connections, and stay updated with the latest trends and sounds shaping the scene. How do you usually make creative decisions when preparing a set or planning a performance? Preparation is very collaborative for us. We spend a lot of time sharing music, testing ideas, and discussing the atmosphere we want to create. Usually, it starts with a feeling rather than a strict tracklist. A lot of our inspiration also comes from production and experimenting in the studio with Afro melodic sounds and emotional progressions. When you don&rsquo;t fully agree on a track or musical direction during a set, how do you handle it in the moment? Trust plays a huge role. During a set, there&rsquo;s no time for long discussions, so we rely on instinct and experience. Usually, if one of us strongly feels a direction, the other supports it, and we adjust naturally together. Over time, we&rsquo;ve learned how to understand each other&rsquo;s energy without needing to say much.&nbsp;
How does it feel to be featured as &ldquo;DJ of the Week&rdquo; on NileFM? Was this recognition expected, or did it come as a surprise? It honestly felt amazing. It was a very motivating moment for us because we&rsquo;ve always focused more on the music and the experience rather than recognition itself. Being featured by NileFM definitely encouraged us to keep pushing our sound further.

In a vibrant celebration of culture and creativity, the &ldquo;Street of Art&rdquo; (Sharea El Fen) initiative is returning to downtown Cairo as the Academy of Arts launches the second week of its public cultural programme at Al-Sharifain Street, according to a statement shared on the official page of the Ministry of Culture.
Held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Nabila Hassan, President of the Academy of Arts, the events will take place from Thursday, 21 May to Saturday, 23 May, daily from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
The initiative reflects the Academy&rsquo;s ongoing vision of bringing art beyond traditional venues and into public spaces, making cultural and artistic experiences accessible to all segments of society through a diverse programme blending heritage with contemporary expression.
The week&rsquo;s programme features a wide range of artistic and interactive performances, including the traditional &ldquo;Sandouk El Donya&rdquo; (Box of the World) show, a creative workshop led by Dr. Adel Nagy, and a poetry segment presented by the Higher Institute of Child Arts. The programme also includes an &ldquo;Aragouz&rdquo; puppet performance in collaboration with Bayt al-Suhaymi.
The Higher Institute of Folk Arts will present authentic Egyptian heritage performances, including the &ldquo;Fellahi Dance&rdquo; and &ldquo;Tanoura,&rdquo; while the musical programme features &ldquo;Neapolitan Musical&rdquo; by Dr. Osama Ali, alongside an oriental singing performance by artist Lydia Farouk. The British pound also recorded a slight decline, reaching EGP 70.97 for buying and EGP 71.25 for selling.
Meanwhile, the euro fell to EGP 61.33 for buying and EGP 61.66 for selling.
China&rsquo;s yuan, however, edged slightly higher, recording EGP 7.77 for buying and EGP 7.80 for selling.
Among Gulf currencies, the UAE dirham declined to EGP 14.38 for buying and EGP 14.43 for selling.
Overall, the Egyptian pound showed modest gains against several major international and regional currencies amid ongoing fluctuations in the foreign exchange market.

The EMA also noted a slight chance of low clouds forming over scattered areas of the southern Nile Delta, Greater Cairo, and the Suez Canal cities, which may lead to light and insignificant drizzle in some locations.

ChatGPT from OpenAI, Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, they&rsquo;re no longer &ldquo;coming soon.&rdquo; Writers, designers, and musicians are using them daily. Briefs that used to take hours get knocked out in minutes. A track idea you&rsquo;d sit on for days can be mocked up before your coffee gets cold. The tech is fast. The debate is faster.
From Threat to Teammate
A lot of creatives are changing the game; AI isn&rsquo;t the enemy, it&rsquo;s the new collaborator. Producers are using it to test weird sounds they&rsquo;d never try otherwise. Content creators lean on it to beat blank-page panic or tighten a messy first draft.
Grimes basically set the tone for this mindset. She told fans to go ahead and use AI versions of her voice in their music, just split the royalties if it makes money. No lawsuits, no drama. Just, &ldquo;Let&rsquo;s see what happens.&rdquo;
&nbsp;But then there&rsquo;s the other side. Those viral AI tracks with &ldquo;Drake&rdquo; and &ldquo;The Weeknd&rdquo; last year? Neither artist stepped in a booth. It blew up the whole conversation around consent, identity, and who actually owns a sound.
The Copyright Mess
This is where it gets tense. AI models train on massive amounts of existing work; songs, scripts, paintings, and photos. A lot of it is copyrighted. Most of it was used without permission.
That&rsquo;s why the lawsuits keep coming. The Writers Guild of America drew a hard line during the strikes: AI can&rsquo;t write your screenplay. Human writers stay in control.
Illustrators and photographers are saying the same thing. If your art was used to teach a machine that now generates images in your style, and you weren&rsquo;t asked or paid, that&rsquo;s a problem.&nbsp;
So What&rsquo;s Happening in Egypt?
&nbsp;Cairo&rsquo;s creative scene is already testing the waters. Open TikTok or Instagram and you&rsquo;ll find young Egyptian producers dropping AI-assisted beats, designers using it for quick edits, and digital artists experimenting with new styles.
&nbsp;For a lot of them, AI isn&rsquo;t scary. It&rsquo;s leverage. In a digital economy where speed and volume matter, being able to pitch three solid concepts before noon instead of one by Thursday is a game-changer.
The questions we&rsquo;re still figuring out: Who&rsquo;s teaching people how to use these tools well? Are agencies, labels, and studios ready for how fast this is moving? And if access isn&rsquo;t equal, who gets left behind?
We&rsquo;ve Been Here Before
Every major creative tool started with panic. Photoshop was going to kill photography. Auto-Tune was going to kill real singers. Drum machines were going to kill drummers.
One analyst told the BBC: &ldquo;Every innovation in creative tools starts with fear. Then we realize it just expands what&rsquo;s possible. The human part doesn&rsquo;t disappear, it just moves.&rdquo;
AI can generate, remix, and suggest all day. But it doesn&rsquo;t get obsessed with a weird idea at 2 am. It doesn&rsquo;t have taste. It doesn&rsquo;t have a point of view or a story it needs to tell.
Bottom Line
So maybe the question isn&rsquo;t &ldquo;Can AI be creative?&rdquo;
It&rsquo;s &ldquo;Can we stay creative enough to use it right and make sure it doesn&rsquo;t use us?&rdquo;
The balance between human imagination and machine help? That&rsquo;s where the real story is right now. And it&rsquo;s moving fast.

Is AI Replacing Creativity or Supercharging It? How AI Tools Are Changing Music, Art, and Everyday Life

Egypt&rsquo;s Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, has announced the launch of a nationwide medical and ambulance plan for Eid al-Fitr 2026, aimed at ensuring readiness across the health system during the holiday period.
The ministry said more than 700 government hospitals have increased emergency preparedness, with emergency departments and operating theatres functioning around the clock as travel and public gatherings rise.
Ambulance Services and Rapid Response
The plan includes enhanced deployment by the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, with around 3,000 ambulances operating across governorates and an additional 1,200 vehicles positioned at key locations.
Ambulances have been stationed near main roads, public squares, mosques, Eid prayer areas, parks, and other gathering points. Twenty-seven emergency rooms are linked to a central control centre to enable real-time monitoring and dispatch, while regional officials oversee high-traffic areas.

Focus on Major Roads
Authorities say priority has been given to major routes, including the coastal road between Damietta and Matrouh, the Cairo-Alexandria desert road, the agricultural road, as well as routes in South Sinai, the Red Sea, and Upper Egypt.
More than 600 fixed and mobile ambulance points have been deployed along these roads to allow rapid response to accidents.
Hospital Preparedness
Hospitals have also increased capacity in emergency and intensive care units. Around 250 facilities have been designated as primary referral centres on highways, supported by 54 rapid response teams for large-scale incidents.
Blood banks have been supplied with an additional 40,000 units, and medical stocks have been reinforced to meet potential demand.
Public Health Measures
The preventive medicine sector has intensified inspections of more than 35,000 food outlets, including sweet shops, restaurants, hotels, parks, and public transport hubs.
Around 1,200 inspection teams have been deployed to monitor compliance with health and safety standards.
Monitoring and Public Guidance
A central operations room will operate круглосуточно to monitor implementation of the plan.
The ministry has also urged the public to follow health guidelines, with the hotline 137 available for medical enquiries and emergency assistance throughout the Eid holiday.

Airing from 8 to 10 AM, the conversation explored international collaboration, student mobility, and the benefits of transnational education for learners seeking global opportunities without leaving home.
Defining Herself as an Educator
Nesma shared her personal perspective on her role: &ldquo;So I&rsquo;m at the British Council, but how I define myself is as an educator, an education researcher. I&rsquo;ve been working in higher education for 15 years, which technically means research around higher education opportunities within the region, with the aim of informing the UK sector of these opportunities and then bridging, making connections, and building these relationships between the UK, Egypt, and beyond.&rdquo;
When asked why education is such a passion, she said, &ldquo;I&rsquo;ve always been a lifelong learner. Education is at the core of development, supporting people to find what they&rsquo;re meant to do and helping nations meet their goals. Knowledge is power, regardless of where it comes from.&rdquo;
What is Transnational Education?
The discussion then turned to transnational education (TNE). Nesma explained: &ldquo;Transnational education is when a university in one country offers a programme or a degree in another country, physically moving to meet students where they are. Instead of Egyptian students travelling to get a degree in the UK, the UK institution comes to Egypt and delivers that in-country through different models.&rdquo;
She highlighted the accessibility of this model: &ldquo;This increases access to international education for students who can&rsquo;t travel for personal, family, or financial reasons. You get the benefits of an international degree without ever having to leave home.&rdquo;
Models of Transnational Education
On international branch campuses: &ldquo;This is one of the independent models of transnational education where a university expands to a new country, offering the same programmes and teaching methods, and bringing its expertise into a new context. Students graduate with one international degree that is very similar to what they would receive if they studied abroad.&rdquo;
On joint degrees: &ldquo;Joint degrees are when two universities come together to develop a programme. You have international expertise alongside local knowledge, creating something relevant to students and their context. It&rsquo;s co-created, combining the strengths of both institutions into one degree accredited by both.&rdquo;
On digital learning: &ldquo;This could be fully online learning, where you&rsquo;re in Egypt studying at a university abroad, which is still transnational education. There are also blended models combining online and face-to-face learning, usually involving a local partner and an international partner. The international side may develop the virtual learning environment and resources, while local expertise ensures the content is contextualised. Exams, for example, may take place in Egypt, even if systems are hosted abroad.&rdquo;
Why Egypt is a Key Destination
Egypt has become the fourth-largest host country globally for UK transnational education programmes, with around 38,000 students enrolled. Nesma explained the appeal: &ldquo;Egypt has 3.8 million students in higher education, expected to grow to 5 million by 2030. There&rsquo;s strong demand, and universities in Egypt are keen to partner with international counterparts. Students trust UK institutions, and government strategies highlight internationalisation as a priority.&rdquo;
The Benefits for Students
The advantages extend beyond studying locally. Nesma highlighted global recognition and employability: &ldquo;You get a degree that can be used anywhere in the world without needing revalidation. Students also develop critical thinking, leadership, communication, and intercultural skills that are highly valued by employers.&rdquo;
She also emphasised the British Council&rsquo;s role: &ldquo;We work with governments, institutions, and learners. We help ensure supportive regulations, bring stakeholders together through networking, and guide students on accessing opportunities. Everything we do is research-driven to continuously improve partnerships.&rdquo;
Regional Collaboration through Deep Dialogues
Nesma discussed the recent regional Deep Dialogue in Cairo: &ldquo;Participants from 11 countries came together to learn from different models of transnational education. Mature ecosystems like Egypt shared insights with countries still developing their frameworks. We discussed regulation, quality assurance, and engaged directly with students to understand their experiences.&rdquo;
She added, &ldquo;These dialogues build a community of practice. Connections continue beyond the event, creating sustainable networks that support education across the region.&rdquo;

Nesma concluded with a forward-looking perspective: &ldquo;Successful models in more developed systems can help guide countries in earlier stages. At its core, this is about improving education, expanding opportunities, and empowering students to reach their potential while contributing to society. Egypt’s Health Minister Hails Magdi Yacoub Foundation for Life-Saving Cardiac Work

Egypt&rsquo;s General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) has granted full and preliminary accreditation to 32 health facilities across the country, according to decisions issued by the Supreme Committee for the Accreditation of Health Facilities.
The move is part of efforts to strengthen quality and patient safety standards in line with internationally recognised benchmarks set by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua).
Officials say the accreditations aim to improve the efficiency of healthcare institutions and prepare them for integration into Egypt&rsquo;s Universal Health Insurance system, which seeks to expand access to safe and high-quality medical services nationwide.
As part of preparations for the system&rsquo;s second phase, Minya Governorate is expected to be among the first areas to implement the programme. The Supreme Committee renewed preliminary accreditation for Minya Oncology Center and granted preliminary accreditation to several hospitals in the governorate, including Samalut Oncology Hospital, El Adwa Central Hospital and Mallawi Liver and Gastroenterology Hospital.
The General Military Hospital in Alexandria, affiliated with the Armed Forces Medical Services, also received preliminary accreditation in accordance with GAHAR standards, reflecting ongoing efforts to strengthen quality and patient safety in healthcare delivery.
Officials say the latest accreditations represent another step in Egypt&rsquo;s broader strategy to standardise healthcare services, improve patient outcomes and prepare facilities for nationwide implementation of the Universal Health Insurance system.

From high-budget productions to literary adaptations, this year&rsquo;s selection reflects the growing scale and ambition of Arab cinema. Seven Dogs After attracting international attention following claims of a Guinness World Record for the largest explosion captured in a single cinematic sequence, Seven Dogs arrives as one of the season&rsquo;s most high-profile releases. The film reunites Egyptian stars Ahmed Ezz and Karim Abdel Aziz, alongside an international cast including Monica Bellucci, Martin Lawrence, and Salman Khan. It follows Interpol officer Khalid Al-Azazi, who is drawn into an uneasy partnership with a criminal informant to dismantle a powerful global network known as &ldquo;The Seven Dogs&rdquo;.

The narrative explores themes of freedom, sacrifice and the human cost of rebellion.

What begins as an ordinary moment escalates into a series of unsettling events that gradually reshape his perception of reality.

Eid Al-Adha 2026: Films To Watch In A Competitive Holiday Line-Up

With its release on 27 May fast approaching, &ldquo;Seven Dogs&rdquo; is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious action thrillers to come out of the Arab world. Filmed in Riyadh and backed by international talent, the project blends high-octane set pieces with a global crime plot.
Here are seven reasons the film is attracting worldwide attention.
1. A cross-border crime thriller The idea came from Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia&rsquo;s General Entertainment Authority, who wanted a Middle Eastern story with international reach. The script, by Mohamed El-Dabbah, tracks a criminal network operating across continents as it traffics a synthetic drug known as &ldquo;Pink Lady&rdquo;. Interpol officer Khalid Al-Azzazi is forced to work with a criminal informant to bring down the syndicate called &ldquo;The Seven Dogs&rdquo;.

2. A global cast The film brings together Egyptian stars Ahmed Ezz and Karim Abdel Aziz with international names including Monica Bellucci, Martin Lawrence, Sanjay Dutt, Menna Shalaby and Francis Ngannou. Salman Khan and Giancarlo Esposito make guest appearances. The line-up underscores the production&rsquo;s cross-cultural ambitions.
3. One of the biggest Arab productions yet With a budget of more than $40m, &ldquo;Seven Dogs&rdquo; is among the largest films ever produced in the region. It was shot at AlHisn Big Time Studios in Riyadh with a crew of more than 200 international staff. Producer Ivan Atkinson helped assemble the team, while action was designed by 87Eleven Action Design, the company behind &ldquo;John Wick&rdquo;.
4. Hollywood-level crew Visual effects are by Oscar-winning studio Framestore, whose credits include&rdquo;Top Gun: Maverick&rdquo; and &ldquo;Barbie&rdquo;. Robrecht Heyvaert leads cinematography, with production design by Paul Kirby. Costumes are by Beatrice Giannini and Mark Bouman, and the score is composed by Lorne Balfe, known for &ldquo;The Dark Knight&rdquo; and &ldquo;Bad Boys: Ride or Die&rdquo;
5. Practical stunts over CGI Rather than rely on green screens, the filmmakers built physical sets for complex action scenes. Ahmed Ezz and Karim Abdel Aziz performed fight sequences with real wind, debris and choreographed stunts captured in-camera, aiming for a grittier, more immersive feel.

6. A record-breaking explosion The production has already entered Guinness World Records for the largest explosion filmed in a single cinematic shot. The sequence used 2,000kg of explosives, overseen by special effects expert Duncan Capp and shot with Panavision cameras.
7. An international release plan After opening in the Arab world, *Seven Dogs* is due to roll out in India, Turkey, the US, the UK and several African and Asian markets, including Morocco, Nigeria and China. Multilingual and dubbed versions are planned, signalling an attempt to launch a global franchise rather than a regional release.
