What started as a childhood dream of becoming an actor gradually became a journey of persistence, experimentation, and creative discovery for Seif Zahran. From visiting casting offices at just 15 to exploring acting, directing, music, and scriptwriting, Zahran has continued to look for ways to develop his craft and bring his creative ideas to life.
Although audiences may know him through his social media videos, Zahran says acting has always been his true passion. When acting opportunities became limited, he turned to content creation, a path that eventually opened new doors for him while also creating a new challenge: proving that he could move beyond being seen simply as a content creator.

Working with the team, he helped turn the film&rsquo;s themes into a social media campaign that sparked conversation and audience engagement ahead of its release.
NileFM spoke with Seif Zahran to discuss his journey from aspiring actor to content creator and back toward acting, his experience on &ldquo;Red Flag,&rdquo; the film&rsquo;s creative marketing campaign, his work in writing and directing, and the dream role he hopes will show audiences another side of his talent.
Tell us more about Seif Zahran behind the camera. What is the side of you that people don&rsquo;t usually get to see?
I&rsquo;m an actor. I&rsquo;m not a content creator. As an actor, first and foremost. I only started making videos because I was trying to find a way into acting. I'd been chasing it since I was 15, sneaking into casting offices without an ID, until I finally got my first role at 22 in 2013. I acted steadily until 2017, then the roles dried up, so I turned to video content, and that ended up opening a lot of doors for me.
But I'm trying to move away from that now. People are quick to criticize content creators who act, and I want to be clear: this was a phase, not who I am. I didn't expect it to stretch on for years. I still enjoy making videos sometimes, but I don't consider myself a content creator.

Take us behind the scenes of &ldquo;Red Flag.&rdquo; What was the experience of making the film like for you?
As I grew up, I realized that acting was what I truly loved. &ldquo;Red Flag&rdquo; was a big opportunity for me. It&rsquo;s the third film I&rsquo;ve worked on after &ldquo;Arousty&rdquo; and &ldquo;El Matareed,&rdquo; alongside my television work, but it&rsquo;s my first major film role.
I was nervous and really trying to give it everything I had. We filmed over a long period, and throughout the process, I was always trying to bring out the best performance I could.
You previously worked with Ahmed Hatem and Jamila Awad in &ldquo;Arousty.&rdquo; How was working with them again in &ldquo;Red Flag&rdquo;?
Ahmed is one of the closest people to me; we've collaborated on a lot of projects, so working together again was amazing. Jamila and I had only shared one day of shooting on "Arousty" and crossed paths a couple of times since, so "Red Flag" was really the first time we got to know each other properly. She's a genuine, wonderful person, and I feel lucky to now call her a friend.

What was the best feedback you received after audiences watched the movie?
The reactions have been mixed. Some people were happy with my performance, while others felt that I wasn&rsquo;t ready for the opportunity because I came from a content-creation background. Others said that I did well.
It has been a mix of opinions, but I hope I get more opportunities to learn from my mistakes and become better in the future. Everyone needs to listen to criticism and use it to improve rather than thinking they did everything perfectly.
The things people criticized me for are definitely things I can learn from, and I&rsquo;m very grateful to everyone who enjoyed my performance and supported me.

&ldquo;Red Flag&rdquo; explores the idea of red flags in relationships. What is one red flag in a person that would make you decide not to deal with them?
Lying, even if it&rsquo;s about something small. I feel like that&rsquo;s a warning sign that tells you to stay away or run.
How did the idea of creating short reels and teasing videos for &ldquo;Red Flag&rdquo; come about?
It was part of a campaign called "Rawa7y 3la Bet Abouki," led by Khaled Gohar, but honestly, it was a group effort; we had a WhatsApp group where ideas came from everyone involved. I was the one who suggested making a video around the "Red Flag" song; Khaled brought the concept and the song itself, and I wrote the lyrics, composed it, and produced the music. I also built out the campaign around the song with Lilly Samy, worked on creative video with Malak Dahshan, and helped make the "Red Flag" music video.
Audiences really engaged with the short reels and teasers. Tell us more about the audience&rsquo;s reaction and how you experienced it?
I don't think a film had been marketed quite like this before its release, and it felt right, because the campaign tapped into exactly what "Red Flag" is about, something people are already talking about constantly. Ahmed delivering a line like "Rawa7y 3la Bet Abouki" with that toxic energy is a big part of why it landed. I'm proud we took the initiative, and I hope more productions try something this creative with their marketing.
Take us through your scriptwriting journey in &ldquo;Al Eind.&rdquo; What inspired you to take on this side of the project?
I&rsquo;ve always tried to do things beyond acting. I also have experience in writing, including work on &ldquo;Abla Fahita&rdquo; and the series &ldquo;Al Eind.&rdquo; I still don&rsquo;t know what will happen with &ldquo;Al Eind&rdquo; because I haven&rsquo;t heard any updates about it.

Between acting and singing, which one feels closer to you?
I make musical content, and I had an experience about six years ago called &ldquo;Ma&rsquo;adarsh Asohab.&rdquo; I did something similar again with &ldquo;Red Flag.&rdquo; But I&rsquo;m not a singer, and I don&rsquo;t really consider myself connected to singing.
I&rsquo;m not planning to pursue it professionally, although I might occasionally have fun with it and make something. I don&rsquo;t see it as a career for me, and I don&rsquo;t think my voice is the best.
What is one dream you are still hoping to achieve?
I really want to get a role that isn&rsquo;t comedic and is completely different from me, both in appearance and personality. I want to show people that I&rsquo;m capable of much more than that.
I hope I get an opportunity like that, and if I do, I want to give it everything I have.

With his sights now firmly set on the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, Hamza continues to chase the biggest titles in fencing and hopes to make history by standing on the Olympic podium.
Fencing has also been a family affair for Hamza. His father, Maher Hamza, Head of the Technical Committee of the Egyptian Fencing Federation, has played an important role throughout his son&rsquo;s journey, sharing his experience, keeping him motivated and remaining one of his biggest supporters.
Following his gold-medal victory at the 2026 Mediterranean Games, NileFM spoke exclusively with Mohamed Hamza about his latest achievement, the challenges he has overcome throughout his career, representing Egypt on the world&rsquo;s biggest stages, his father&rsquo;s influence and his ambitions for Los Angeles 2028.
You are a three-time Egyptian Olympic foil fencer. After winning gold at the 2026 Mediterranean Games, how does this achievement feel, particularly after such a competitive tournament?
It feels great to be at the top of the podium again and represent Egypt in the best way possible at the Games. I&rsquo;m very motivated to be at the top again soon in the next international competition.

The competition was tough. Tell us about your preparation in the build-up to the Mediterranean Games and what you focused on most.
We had just finished our international season with the World Championships in July, so it was all about staying physically sharp. The motivation was simple because it&rsquo;s always great to represent Egypt at any Games, and it was a great opportunity to end my 2025/26 season on a high.
Looking back at your career so far, what has been the toughest moment you have faced, and how did you overcome it?
My toughest moment is related to injuries. During the season before the qualification year for the Paris 2024 Olympics, I suffered a crash on my bicycle with a car that ended with me in hospital, needing 30 stitches and a long-term recovery from a bad concussion.
Fighting through that and pushing myself to continue my progress on the world stage and in the rankings required a lot of faith and perseverance. I was able to excel throughout and after my recovery from such an incident.
You have won several major medals throughout your career. How does winning your first major medal compare with winning a title today? And what has the journey taught you about yourself?
My first major medal felt like a relief but also pure excitement at the fact that I had marked my position among the elite in my sport. This medal is proof to myself that I continue to be a strong competitor and have lots to look forward to in my career as I stay hungry for more success!

You have represented Egypt on some of the biggest stages in world sport. What does that mean to you?
It means the world to me to be able to raise our flag and show the strength that we Egyptians have! To be able to compete with the flag on my uniform and bring pride to Egyptians with our performances makes me happy. I&rsquo;m always so honoured to compete for Egypt and represent the country worldwide.

You have competed at three Olympic Games, from Rio 2016 to Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. How has each Olympic experience changed you, both as an athlete and as a person?
At Rio, I was 15 years old. Being so young at the Games, I had no pressure on myself and just allowed myself to learn what it was like on the biggest stage. For me, the achievement was qualifying and competing at Rio so I could prepare myself for the following Olympics in Tokyo.
At Tokyo, I was making a name for myself in the senior category after having just finished world number one in the junior category. I got Covid-19 right before the Games, unfortunately, so I had no expectations of myself and just chose to enjoy it. I beat the British fencer who won silver at the previous World Championships and then beat an Italian fencing legend to make the quarter-finals.
It was a huge boost to my confidence, and I went on in the following Olympic cycle to become one of the best in the sport and establish myself as a top-three fencer by 2024.
At Paris, having had the experience of the previous two Games and the confidence that came with my career improving year after year and climbing the world rankings, I again made it to the quarter-finals. Unfortunately, the hamstring strain I suffered right before Paris 2024 held me back, as the pain kept growing throughout the competition day, and fifth place was my fate.
But it&rsquo;s great to see the progress over the years, from growing as a breakthrough athlete to becoming an established top-tier athlete in fencing. My confidence and skill set were getting better and better with every Olympics.

You are now targeting Los Angeles 2028. What would you like your fourth Olympic Games to look like, and what would make it different from the first three?
At the peak of my game, age-wise, I&rsquo;m looking to get the gold in LA28. I feel my experience, age profile and confidence will help me massively in the upcoming Games.
Your father, Maher Hamza, has been by your side throughout your journey. What is the biggest lesson he has taught you, both inside and outside fencing?
There will always be ups and downs in life, but you have to keep believing and working hard because, in the long run, it pays off and consistently helps you overcome difficulties whenever they happen.
What is the toughest piece of advice your father has ever given you?
Accepting the sacrifices that come with wanting to be an elite athlete and recognising that extra work always needs to be done, whether it&rsquo;s physical, technical or mental, to stay at the top.
What do people often misunderstand about the mental pressure of being an elite athlete?
Experience makes dealing with high-pressure scenarios simpler over time, but we&rsquo;re humans with highs and lows, and having no guarantee of results after hard work is difficult to accept. You won&rsquo;t always be immediately rewarded for your hard work, but you just have to keep going and believing.

World Championship gold and Olympic gold! I want to be at the top of the podium on the biggest stages and make history.

In this exclusive NileFM interview, DJ AXL takes us behind the decks to explore the journey that shaped his sound, the challenges of blending traditional instruments with electronic production, and the storytelling and emotional movement that guide his sets. Take us behind DJ AXL. What should listeners know about you beyond the music?
Beyond the decks and the studio, I&rsquo;m deeply driven by curiosity and culture. My love for rhythm actually started during my childhood in Qatar, where watching traditional live percussion at holiday celebrations completely fascinated me. Off the clock, I&rsquo;m someone who appreciates the simple things, enjoying a good cup of coffee, diving into great cinema, and finding continuous inspiration in the world around me to bring back into my sound.

You specialise in Afro House, Organic House, and Melodic Electronic music. What drew you to these genres in particular?
What drew me to these genres is their organic human core. As I grew older and fell in love with house music, I realized these genres offered the perfect bridge to blend two things I&rsquo;m passionate about: authentic, traditional percussion and modern electronic energy. Afro and Organic House allows me to take rich rhythmic roots and elevate them into a contemporary context.
You blend your sets with powerful Arab voices and sounds. What do you want your audience to feel or take away from your music?
I want them to feel a deep sense of connection, nostalgia, and elevation. Vocal textures carry soul, history, and emotion. When integrated into an energetic electronic track, they create a bridge between heritage and modern club culture, making listeners feel something meaningful on the dance floor beyond just the beat.
You combine electronic beats with traditional Egyptian, Saidi, and Nubian musical elements. What challenges do you face when bringing these different sounds together?
The biggest challenge is balance. Traditional instruments like Saidi drums or Nubian scales have unique, organic timings and frequencies that don't naturally fit rigid digital grids. The goal is to make the fusion feel seamless and respectful to the original heritage, rather than forcing a heavy electronic beat over a delicate acoustic sound.

What is the main idea, emotion, or feeling that guides you whenever you create a new set?
Storytelling and movement. I aim to take the listener on a complete emotional arc, starting with a grounded energy, building momentum, and ending on a high note that leaves them feeling refreshed and full of good energy.
As Nile FM&rsquo;s DJ of the Week, what surprises have you prepared for our listeners?
I&rsquo;ve put together a very special summer-infused set that reflects my recent sonic direction. It starts with deep, rhythmic Afro-tech grooves, transitions smoothly into some indie flavors, peaks with high-energy tech house, and finishes with an uplift that sets a perfect mood.

You have carved out a distinctive sound that reflects your Egyptian identity. How do you choose the voices, instruments, and sounds that best express that identity?
Selection comes down purely to authenticity and gut feeling. I look for vocal stems and traditional instrumentation that evoke genuine emotion. Whether it's a raw Nubian vocal texture or classic Middle Eastern percussive elements, I choose pieces that honor local culture while translating naturally into global dance floors.
Take us back to the beginning of your journey. How has your approach to creating sets evolved since your first one?
In the beginning, it was mostly about technical execution and playing great tracks. Over time, my approach evolved from just mixing songs to curating an immersive experience. I now focus much more on tension, release, and reading the subtle energy shifts of the room.
How do you adapt your sets to different audiences, venues, and atmospheres?
It&rsquo;s all about emotional flexibility while staying true to my core sound. Whether I&rsquo;m playing an intimate beach club or a major festival stage, I keep my signature identity, but I tweak the drive, tempo, and energy dynamics to match the venue's natural vibe.
What upcoming projects or collaborations can your fans look forward to?
Now I&rsquo;m gearing up for the Chill O'posite Festival on 8 October 2026, where I&rsquo;ll be playing a B2B set with M&ouml;W on the Bayati Showcase stage. Plus, we have a stream of fresh releases lined up that I can&rsquo;t wait to share with everyone.

His dream began when he was a child. David Berty always imagined himself playing characters he loved, imitating actors and taking part in theatrical activities at his church and school. Even while studying architecture and later working as a full-time architect, he never gave up on his dream of becoming an actor.
The rising actor needed just one opportunity to prove his talent, and that opportunity came with his first drama series, "Beng Kolli," directed by Nadine Khan. In the series, Berty plays Raheem, a complex character who required extensive preparation. From spending time in a hospital emergency room to learning more about the nursing profession, he went the extra mile to make the character as authentic as possible.

NileFM went behind the scenes of &ldquo;Beng Kolli&rdquo; with David Berty, who revealed how he prepared for Raheem, the challenges of bringing the character to life, his experience working with Nadine Khan, and what comes next for him.
You studied architecture but eventually found yourself more passionate about acting and voice acting. Tell us more about your journey.
My love for the arts and performance started long before my architectural studies. From a very young age, I found myself constantly role-playing and imagining things on my own. Because of the big age gap between my older sisters and me, that was how I spent most of my time. As I grew older, I was constantly taking part in theatrical activities at my church and at school as well.
There was always a part of me that felt at home when practising the arts, whether writing, singing, or acting. As I got older, I wanted to actually give that child inside me a chance to explore what I had always wanted to explore.
While studying architecture, I joined multiple acting troupes and started my own YouTube channel for voice acting and singing. After graduation, I made a promise to myself to keep doing the things I love and not let them go.
Throughout the years that followed, I had a breakthrough in voice acting. I then focused more on taking acting workshops to develop my skills further. All of that was, and still is, happening in parallel with my work as a full-time architect. And here we are now.

Was there a particular moment when you realised you wanted to become an actor?
It was always inside me, one way or another. But it was when I started taking acting workshops that I found myself feeling more passionate, more alive and more &ldquo;me&rdquo; than ever. This validated my inner feeling that I wanted to explore more in the artistic direction.
Raheem&rsquo;s character in &ldquo;Beng Kolli&rdquo; has several psychological layers. How did you approach portraying the different sides of his personality and conveying them to the audience?
Raheem was a very interesting character from day one. His day-to-day struggles, his lost dreams, and his dedication to work resonated with me a lot.
This is where I connected with the character, when I found that common ground. &ldquo;Do I know how it feels to face life&rsquo;s troubles? Do I know how it feels to let go of a dream?&rdquo; That&rsquo;s how I approached him, and it helped me make him more real. The audience connected with him, thank God.
Adding to that were the layers of his social background and upbringing, which echoed in the details and made him a fuller human being.

When you first read the script, what message did you want the audience to take away from Raheem&rsquo;s story?
I don&rsquo;t think that was how I approached working on Raheem. I just wanted to be as honest and authentic as I could be. To me, Raheem was someone who was always trying and who kept going, and that was very close to my heart.
What was the most challenging scene you filmed for the series?
There were multiple challenging scenes, but what comes to mind is when Raheem discovers Dr Asfour&rsquo;s body.
It was challenging to approach the scene given the state Raheem was in, exhausted from his two jobs and then waking up to this mess.
I also wanted to handle it in the most realistic way possible: him being an experienced nurse, realising what had happened, trying to control his reaction, thinking about the right thing to do and then going to get help.
There was also the scene in Dr Doua&rsquo;s car, when he speaks about his lost dreams and opens his heart to her. It was an important scene because this is where we actually get to know who Raheem is. For me, I love this scene.
&ldquo;Beng Kolli&rdquo; is your first drama series. What was the most memorable reaction you received to your performance?
Multiple reactions resonated with me. Nour Mahmoud&rsquo;s post on Facebook was amazing, and it sparked a conversation about Raheem. I received multiple messages from actors and directors I know that made me really happy and made me feel that my work on Raheem had paid off, thank God.
How did you prepare for the role of Raheem?
I worked on it from multiple directions. First, I wanted to learn more about the nursing world, so I met with nurses and doctors.
I spent a day in the emergency room of one of the hospitals, observing the dynamics between the staff, patients and workers.
I watched multiple nursing videos on YouTube, where nurses talk about their jobs and what they face every day.
I worked on the appearance, the accent and the physicality of the character. And, of course, there was the internal work itself: analysing Raheem, the script and the other characters, along with their relationships and dynamics.

Were there any memorable moments from the set that you would like to share with us?
It was really fun working with the cast. The atmosphere Nadine Khan created helped a lot in building chemistry between us all, and that is reflected in the work itself.
I remember the scenes in which I was sleeping, and multiple times the crew thought I had actually fallen into a deep sleep.
There was also this scene with Diaa Abdel-Khaleq where we bonded over our work as voice actors, as he is one of my favourite childhood voices, having voiced Buzz Lightyear in &ldquo;Toy Story&rdquo;.
What was it like working with director Nadine Khan? Was there a particular piece of advice she gave you that you will never forget?
Nadine Khan is an amazing director and human being. From day one, and even since the audition, she was very supportive. She also gave me the chance to play around with Raheem and explore the character.
She created a very friendly and safe space for us to work in, and she knew what she wanted from each character in every scene, which helped a lot.
She advised me to take care with the fine line between creating a distinctive, believable character and turning it into a stereotypical caricature. I kept that in mind while working on Raheem, and it helped me a lot.

Is there a particular character or type of role you would like to take on in the future?
There is nothing specific I have in mind, but I love characters who are written as actual, layered human beings, with struggles, dreams, fears and needs. I fall in love with the human experience in all its shapes and forms.
What can you tell us about your upcoming projects?
Currently, I&rsquo;m working on multiple projects as a voice actor, and soon a new film will be in cinemas, in which I&rsquo;m voicing a very interesting character.
As for drama and cinema, nothing is clear yet, but I hope that &ldquo;Beng Kolli&rdquo; will be the beginning of many more interesting projects to come.

If you could go back to your first day as an actor, what advice would you give yourself?
It would be what I&rsquo;m telling myself right now: Keep going, keep learning, do what you love for the sake of loving it, and enjoy the ride.

Exclusive | David Berty Reveals How He Brought Raheem To Life In “Beng Kolli” And What’s Next

Some people find stories they can connect with, while others feel compelled to bring those stories to life, shed light on them and preserve their memory through film.
That is what happened with 2D animation art director and filmmaker Noran Fikri, who was following the news from Gaza when she decided to create a film telling a story of childhood, survival and loss.
Her short animated film, &ldquo;GAUZE&rdquo;, follows Zain Orouq, a 14-year-old Palestinian swimming champion who faces war and man-made famine while becoming the sole caregiver for his younger brother. When aid drops into the sea, Zain is forced to swim, not for his passion, but for survival.

Running for just eight minutes, &ldquo;GAUZE&rdquo; won in the Animation category at the 53rd Student Academy Awards, organised by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The specific medal the film will receive will be announced on September 14. As a Student Academy Award-winning film, &ldquo;GAUZE&rdquo; is also eligible for consideration in the Animated Short Film category at the 99th Academy Awards.

In an exclusive interview with NileFM, 2D animation art director and filmmaker Noran Fikri takes us through her journey of finding a story worth telling, the process of bringing &ldquo;GAUZE&rdquo; to life, its recognition at the BAFTA Student Awards and Student Academy Awards, and what comes next for her career.
Tell Us More About Yourself, Noran. What Inspired You To Become A Director?
I am Noran Fikri Alezabi, a 2D animation art director and filmmaker. What inspired me to become a director was that I have always felt this longing to be part of something important, while also really loving to draw. Somehow, the overlap came through storytelling.
When I was very young, I often wondered whether a career in art could have as much impact on the world as careers in social work, law or politics. As I grew older, I realised that the impact of art does not always visibly fix the world or improve people's lives, but it lingers in people's minds and hearts, and its presence cannot be undermined.
&ldquo;GAUZE&rdquo; was the first time I felt that I was using what I love to contribute to a larger cause. I was responsible for the original pitch, and it was my first time co-directing a film. It honestly taught me a lot.

How Did The Idea Of Telling Gaza&rsquo;s Story Through Animation Come To You?
I was awarded a scholarship by Netflix Animation to study at Gobelins Paris, one of the world's top animation schools. Only one month after I enrolled, in September, the war in Gaza began, and it was difficult to witness what was happening from away from home, in a part of the world where it seemed like no one was reacting to it at that time.
In late 2023, I made a firm decision that I wanted my graduation film pitch to focus on Gaza. The specific narrative came after learning about the tragic death of 13-year-old Zain Orouq in April 2024, who was killed by a malfunctioning aid parachute while seeking aid.
His story became the inspiration and our vehicle for capturing the profound loss of childhood and everyday human struggle in Gaza without needing an overly political lens to carry the weight of the story. This allowed me to depict this reality freely and without censorship.
After &ldquo;GAUZE&rdquo; Won The BAFTA Student Award, What Did You Want Audiences To Take Away From The Film?
We wanted audiences to sit with a sense of discomfort and uneasiness about the ongoing reality faced by Palestinian children to this day.
The film ends where it began, unresolved, with children still hungry and waiting, because war does not just take lives; it steals entire childhoods.
I hope &ldquo;GAUZE&rdquo; serves as a means of preserving memory, helping viewers reflect on the fact that children who survive deserve far more than basic survival. They deserve the fullness of a restored childhood, and the world has a responsibility to remember them and fight for them.

As The Person Behind The Original Pitch And The Lead Writer On This Film, Which Parts Of The Story Were Important For You To Depict During Production?
Our story is as much character-driven as it is event-driven, and it was vital to depict the raw, dystopian irony of humanitarian aid drops.
Something meant to sustain life has been twisted into something dangerous that children must risk everything to retrieve.
Above all, I wanted to ensure that the ending remained unresolved, leaving the audience with an honest depiction of the ongoing reality rather than an ending that gives the viewer any sense of release.
You Adapted The Story Of Zain Orouq. Why Did You Choose His Story Specifically?
Zain's tragic loss embodied the dystopian reality in which humanitarian aid becomes a source of fatality.
When we reached out to his uncle, Abdalrahim Orouq, for permission to use Zain's name as a tribute, we were deeply moved to learn that the real Zain actually loved swimming and had a younger brother named Hamoud.
Connecting our fictional premise to the real boy's life reaffirmed why his story needed to be told. He represents countless Palestinian children forced into parent-like roles too soon, bearing trauma with quiet composure while trying to protect their younger siblings.

How Did You Balance The Film&rsquo;s Difficult Realities With Its Themes Of Hope And Brotherly Love?
We balanced these themes through the dynamic between Zain and his little brother, Nour. They represent two sides of childhood: childhood preserved and childhood lost.
Nour represents the inner child who holds on to joy and tries to console those around him. Zain represents the child forced to grow up too quickly. He carries immense grief quietly, never venting his pain in front of Nour in order to protect his brother's spirit.
The love between them anchors the viewer in the middle of the brutal conditions and man-made famine around them.
How Did You Use Sound Effects To Strengthen The Film&rsquo;s Emotional Impact?
We were very grateful to have the talented J&eacute;r&eacute;my Ben Ammar with us for the sound design.
Sound design directly builds the emotional world of the film through two opposing auditory elements:
The Sound Of Water: Represents life, memory and peace before the conflict.
The Sound Of Drones: Represents the violent present.
In the opening sequence, the sound of water abruptly cuts into live-recorded drone audio, provided directly by our friend Lana Darabih from Gaza, immediately immersing the audience in the psychological reality of living under the psychological warfare Palestinians have to endure.
What Was The Biggest Challenge You Faced While Working On This Project?
The emotional and ethical weight of production was our greatest challenge.
Spending a year animating starving children while real children in Gaza were experiencing those exact horrors in real time created an unsettling daily atmosphere.
Ensuring authentic and respectful representation was equally heavy, requiring continuous reassurance from Palestinians, including Gazan writers, Palestinian voice actors and consultants, to verify that every line of dialogue, dialect nuance and narrative choice accurately and honourably reflected their lived experiences.
How Do You Feel About The Film&rsquo;s Reception Following Its BAFTA Student Award Win?
I believe there is a visible shift in how major institutions are responding to the world's engagement with the Palestinian cause. Audiences want to see art that responds to the reality we are witnessing.
Winning the BAFTA was deeply validating for me, of course, and getting to give a speech on a stage and tell the real story of Zain Orouq and honour his memory was a moment I will always carry with me.
I hope this kind of success in bringing our stories to international screens encourages other young creatives across our region to do the same.

The Film Has Been Recognised At Several International Festivals. How Has This Recognition Shaped Your Journey With The Film?
The recognition has cemented in me the idea that stories about ongoing, painful realities do not need to be intimidating or off-limits until another time.
It showed us that when recent real-world tragedy is approached through storytelling, international audiences respond deeply.
The film's festival journey, with more than 60 selections and screenings and the many awards we have received, transformed &ldquo;GAUZE&rdquo; from a graduation film into a statement about how film can act as an enduring form of remembrance and resistance to oppression on a global stage.

Looking Ahead, What Issue Would You Like To Explore In Your Next Project?
I am still currently reflecting on my experience with this film.
I am focusing on building my career in art direction while developing my own projects for future opportunities to direct. I want to continue creating work anchored in clear intention, with projects that fearlessly confront complex realities and use animation to tell meaningful stories.

Dressed in black, C&eacute;line Dion opened her arms to the audience as she stepped onto the stage in Paris, marking a deeply emotional return to live performance. For the Canadian superstar, the moment represented more than simply another concert. It was a long-awaited reunion with the stage and the millions of fans who had been waiting to hear her voice again.
After more than six years away from full live performances, Dion returned to the stage at the Pl&eacute;nitude Arena in Nanterre, near Paris, opening her highly anticipated 2026 residency. The performance marked her first full concert in more than six years, following years away from touring after she was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome in 2022.

Dion's Paris performance marked her first full concert in more than six years. Her career on the live stage was interrupted by health challenges, including her diagnosis with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that causes muscle stiffness and spasms, according to BBC.
Although she had made a highly celebrated stage appearance at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, her return to a full-length concert represented a much bigger milestone in her recovery and career.

An Emotional Moment
The emotion of the night was visible from the very beginning. According to AP News, Dion became tearful during the opening song, &ldquo;On ne change pas,&rdquo; and struggled to continue before regaining her composure.
She had previously promised herself that she would not cry, but the overwhelming response from the audience made the moment impossible to contain. The crowd responded with chants and applause before Dion continued with the performance.
Despite the emotional start, she went on to perform for more than two hours, demonstrating the determination that has defined her journey back to the stage.

The comeback concert featured a mixture of Dion's biggest French- and English-language hits, including &ldquo;The Power of Love,&rdquo; &ldquo;It's All Coming Back to Me Now,&rdquo; and &ldquo;My Heart Will Go On.&rdquo;
She also incorporated covers and new arrangements into the set, including a disco medley featuring &ldquo;I&rsquo;m Alive&rdquo; and &ldquo;That&rsquo;s the Way It Is,&rdquo; alongside renditions of &ldquo;I Feel Love&rdquo; and &ldquo;Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This).&rdquo;
The singer also surprised the audience with the Italian aria &ldquo;Ebben? Ne andr&ograve; lontana,&rdquo; adding another emotional dimension to the evening. The concert featured 25 songs across approximately two hours and 15 minutes.

Before this full concert comeback, Dion delivered one of her most memorable recent performances at the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony.
According to Variety, Dion made her stage return by performing Edith Piaf's &ldquo;Hymne &agrave; l'Amour&rdquo; from the Eiffel Tower, marking a powerful return to the public stage and giving fans a glimpse of her determination to perform again.
C&eacute;line Dion's Health Journey
Dion was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome in 2022. The rare neurological disorder can cause severe muscle stiffness and painful spasms and significantly affected her ability to perform.
Her health journey was also documented in the 2024 film &ldquo;I Am: C&eacute;line Dion,&rdquo; directed by Irene Taylor, which offered fans an intimate look at the singer's struggles, treatment, and determination to continue making music.
After years away from full performances, her return to Paris became a powerful reminder of the physical and emotional challenges she had overcome.

What's Next for C&eacute;line Dion?
Dion's Paris comeback is only the beginning. Her 2026 residency at the Pl&eacute;nitude Arena features 16 concerts running from 12 September through 17 October 2026. Following the 2026 performances, she is scheduled to return to the same venue for 10 additional concerts in May 2027.
The residency marks a major new chapter for Dion as she reconnects with her audience after years away from the stage.
For the fans who filled the arena and waited years to hear her perform again, the comeback was about much more than music. Seeing Dion back under the spotlight, delivering the voice and emotion that have defined her career, turned the night into a celebration of resilience, connection, and the enduring bond between an artist and her audience.

 It's a Love Story In July, Cyrus confirmed the album will have love songs, but that they will be multifaceted. She also discussed pulling inspiration from her personal life, likely her years-long love story with her fianc&eacute;, Maxx Morando. She explained to Daryl Hannah for Wonderland, "This album is a love story, but love stories are never one-dimensional. They're always layered. There is definitely a romantic thread weaving through it because, like all my records, it's a reflection of where I am in my life. But this one feels especially meaningful because this feeling has stayed with me through multiple eras. That's something I hadn't really experienced before. A peaceful kind of love has become a theme across my last three records. Not just the love I share with someone else, but the love I've found from myself. That's probably been the biggest evolution. Once your relationship with yourself changes, every relationship around you changes too. I think this record celebrates both of those equally."
How Many Songs Are on the Album? According to Wonderland, Miley revealed the album will contain 10 songs, as she said in the interview: "This one was different. It was organic and really unforced. Something that was super helpful this time was I started with the tracklist and never veered from it. I knew it would be 10 songs. I roughly knew the sound and the concept. Tom Hardy has surprised fans with an unexpected new role: rapper. The British actor has released his debut full-length rap album under the alter ego Frankie Pulitzer, joining underground hip-hop group Czarface for "Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer."

A New York native and longtime content creator, Doudak originally built her online presence around vegan food, fitness, and lifestyle content. Her curiosity gradually took her beyond food reviews and into discovering local businesses, craftspeople, hidden gems, and the stories behind the people who make them.
Today, Cairo is home for Doudak, where she has also expanded her work beyond content creation. She founded a nonprofit organization supporting Gazan refugees living in Egypt and is currently assisting Gazan refugees in Cairo.

From Fitness and Food Reviews to Finding Her Voice
Doudak&rsquo;s journey into content creation was not something she originally planned as a career.
&ldquo;I graduated with a degree in psychology, but I have always been a big talker,&rdquo; she explained.
After graduation, Doudak began posting videos on her personal social media accounts, which had around 3,000 followers at the time. She started creating content around food, the gym, and fitness, particularly as she searched for healthier food options and began filming different places.
&ldquo;My content was beginning with food, gym, and fitness, not vegan,&rdquo; she explained, highlighting that vegan content was not where her journey began.
As she continued exploring healthy food and different places, her content gradually developed and she eventually began creating videos on YouTube. Even while pursuing her master&rsquo;s degree, she kept making videos and continued building her online presence.
What began as an interest in food, fitness, and discovering healthier options would eventually grow into a much broader passion for travel, local businesses, craftspeople, and the stories behind them.
When Social Media Became More Than a Hobby
Doudak realized that her content could have a real impact when she began seeing how people responded to her recommendations.
&ldquo;I realized that when I started, I had a real impact, and I loved promoting small places,&rdquo; she said.
She recalled being invited to a burger restaurant by its owner, who told her that before opening the business, he had watched her videos and used them as inspiration while developing his own burger.
For Doudak, moments like this showed her that content creation was not simply about reviewing a place. It could influence people, support small businesses, and help entrepreneurs reach audiences they might not otherwise reach.
Discovering the Stories Behind the Places
As her content evolved, Doudak found herself moving away from having one specific niche.
She explained that the transition happened gradually, as she discovered that what truly interested her was helping people discover the world around them.
&ldquo;I love to discover and talk with people about their passion,&rdquo; she said, describing her growing interest in craftspeople, travel, local businesses, and stories that deserve to be told.
For Doudak, the most meaningful content is often found in places that might otherwise be overlooked.
Why Craftspeople and Hidden Gems Matter
Doudak&rsquo;s fascination with craftspeople is also deeply personal.
&ldquo;I love to see someone have passion toward something. I love to see a man who has worked and perfected a craft for 40 years,&rdquo; she said.
She is particularly drawn to family businesses and crafts that have been passed down through generations.
Her interest was influenced by her father, who worked as a jeweler. Growing up around his work allowed her to see the effort behind a finished product and understand how much work can go unnoticed by someone simply walking past a shop.
&ldquo;It&rsquo;s the story behind the business and the people who worked hard to make these things happen,&rdquo; she explained.
That perspective has shaped the way she approaches storytelling, particularly in Egypt and the Middle East, where crafts such as khayamiya, mosaics, and other traditional arts carry generations of history.
For Doudak, sharing these stories is a way of shining a light on the people behind the products and preserving the human stories that might otherwise disappear.
Traveling the World and Discovering How Similar We Are
Doudak has lived and worked across different countries, an experience that has also shaped her approach to travel and storytelling.
Although she has spent time in four different countries, Egypt has become the place where she spends most of her time.
Travel, she believes, has taught her something bigger than simply discovering new destinations.
&ldquo;One thing with traveling that makes me wish anyone could travel is that once you travel and meet different cultures, you realize how similar we are across the world,&rdquo; she said.
Meeting people from different backgrounds has reinforced her belief that, despite cultural differences, people share many of the same experiences.
&ldquo;We&rsquo;re all human, and I think the world would be a better place if we knew more about each other,&rdquo; she added.
How Cairo Became Home
Egypt was not necessarily the place Doudak imagined she would eventually call home.
Growing up in the United States meant she did not have the same opportunity to speak Arabic or become familiar with the culture and region.
But after spending more time in Egypt, that changed.
&ldquo;Now when I am here, I feel like I belong here,&rdquo; she said.
Her work in Egypt played a role in creating that connection, but so did the relationships and experiences she developed while exploring the country.
What began as a destination became a place where Doudak found a sense of belonging.
When Content Creation Becomes a Passion Project
Although content creation eventually became her full-time career, Doudak has also learned to create boundaries around it.
She explained that she initially stepped away from long-form YouTube vlogs because of the pressure that came with constantly producing content.
Short-form videos on TikTok and Instagram allowed her to create more freely without feeling that every moment had to become content.
&ldquo;When I was making vlogs on YouTube, I didn&rsquo;t have the chance to breathe from content,&rdquo; she recalled.
Today, she sees content creation differently. Rather than allowing it to consume every part of her life, she approaches it more like a passion project.
The Power and Responsibility of Having an Audience
Building an audience has opened doors for Doudak that would not otherwise have been available to her.
&ldquo;Having an audience opens doors. It gives you opportunities you wouldn&rsquo;t otherwise have,&rdquo; she explained.
But that visibility also comes with limitations.
As her audience became more familiar with her personal life, she began receiving questions about family members and private experiences she had previously shared online.
That realization made her reconsider how much of her personal life she wanted to put on social media.
Over time, she has chosen to share less about herself and focus more on craftspeople, businesses, travel, and stories that she believes deserve attention.
&ldquo;You don&rsquo;t know who is watching,&rdquo; she noted.
Her Advice to Anyone Starting on Social Media
For people who are just beginning their content creation journey, Doudak&rsquo;s advice is simple: start.
&ldquo;You just need to start,&rdquo; she said.
She acknowledged that the first pieces of content will probably not be perfect. In fact, creators may look back years later and cringe at what they produced when they were starting out.
But that is part of the process.
To become the creator you want to be in the future, you have to begin creating now, experiment with different styles, make mistakes, and discover what works for you.
Doudak also emphasized that there is no universal formula for becoming a successful creator. The equipment, software, style, and approach that work for one person may not work for another.
&ldquo;You need to go on a personal journey with your content,&rdquo; she explained.
Her biggest lesson is to stop waiting for perfection.
&ldquo;Let it exist first,&rdquo; she said.
Keeping Humanitarian Work Separate From Her Online Identity
While social media became a major part of Doudak&rsquo;s professional identity, she initially kept her humanitarian work completely separate.
For nearly two years, she avoided discussing her work in the nonprofit space on her main platforms, partly to protect the privacy of the people and organizations she worked with.
There was also another reason.
&ldquo;I didn&rsquo;t want to be seen growing my personal brand based on someone else&rsquo;s hardship,&rdquo; she explained.
Over time, however, Doudak began to see a connection between the two sides of her work.
The relationships she built through storytelling and social media eventually helped her humanitarian efforts, while her platform gave her another way to encourage people to explore the world, connect with others, and give back.
She now believes that using her platform responsibly can inspire others to do the same.
From Discovering Stories to Helping People
Doudak&rsquo;s journey reflects how a social media platform can evolve alongside the person behind it.
What began with food, fitness, and lifestyle videos eventually became a platform for highlighting small businesses, craftspeople, travelers, and overlooked stories.

His love of music began in 2004 after experiencing his first major music event, while growing up in Egypt introduced him to the richness of Arabic melodies.
Since launching his career as a DJ in 2006, Redo has performed at a variety of events alongside major occasions, continuously developing his style and expanding his musical horizons.
Now, DJ Redo joins NileFM&rsquo;s DJ of the Week at 10pm for a one-hour set featuring a mix of remixes, melodies and sounds from different genres. With melody at the heart of his musical identity, Redo aims to take listeners through different vibes and emotions, creating a set where every track adds to the journey.
NileFM dives deeper into DJ Redo&rsquo;s journey, his approach to discovering and blending music, the story behind his NileFM set and what&rsquo;s next for his career.
Let&rsquo;s start from the beginning. Tell us about your journey as a DJ and how your Egyptian background shaped your musical identity.
I started DJing in 2006, playing at local weddings. By 2010, I was also playing at international weddings, and in 2011 I moved into clubs, bars, beach parties, pool parties and larger events.
My love of music started even earlier, after experiencing my first major music event in 2004. Music has always been a huge source of positive energy for me, and growing up in Egypt also gave me a strong appreciation for beautiful Arabic melodies. I also learned a lot from working with DJs from Germany, which gave me different musical perspectives and experiences.

Was there a particular moment when you realised that DJing was more than just a passion and that you wanted to pursue it seriously?
When I started experimenting with remixes and changing melodies, I realised how much I enjoyed creating my own musical ideas. That was when I felt I had a natural talent for it and knew that DJing and music were going to be my career.
You&rsquo;re known for exploring different genres and creating a distinctive, genre-fluid sound. How would you describe your musical identity today?
I play different genres, but melody is always at the heart of what I do. I love blending sounds in a way that feels natural and beautiful. For me, every DJ set is a journey where I take the audience through different moods, vibes and emotions.
When you&rsquo;re discovering new music, what makes you think, &ldquo;This is a track I want to work with&rdquo;?
It starts with the melody, then the vocal and the energy of the track. When those three elements connect, I immediately start imagining how the track could fit into one of my sets.
Your sets can bring together very different sounds and genres. How do you decide which tracks can work together while still keeping your own signature style?
I look for tracks with melodies that can catch the audience&rsquo;s ear and connect emotionally. With a good musical ear, you can feel which tracks naturally fit together and create a strong groove, even across different genres.
You&rsquo;ve had the opportunity to play in different places and for very different audiences. How do you prepare when you&rsquo;re performing for a new crowd or in a different country?
I like to understand the venue and the audience first. But I also use my warm-up to read the crowd and discover what they respond to. Their reactions help me understand their taste and guide the musical direction of the set.
You&rsquo;re now joining NileFM as DJ of the Week. What did you want to bring to the audience through this particular set, and can listeners expect any surprises?
I wanted to bring beautiful melodies and a strong groove that pulls you into the set and makes you want to keep listening. There are also a few surprises in the mix, which I hope you&rsquo;ll enjoy discovering.

Take us through the process of creating your NileFM set. From the first track you selected to the final version, how did the set evolve?
I started with &ldquo;Listen Woman&rdquo; by DvirNuns, a track supported by Adam Ten. I&rsquo;m a big fan of Adam Ten, especially his approach to melody. From that track, I chose another one in the same direction and started building the set naturally from there.
Was there a particular track or transition in the set that was especially challenging or exciting to put together?
Around 90% of the transitions were really enjoyable and came together naturally because the melodies worked so well together. I didn&rsquo;t have to overthink them; the right tracks made the flow feel natural.

After years of developing your sound, what do you think has changed most between the DJ you were when you started and the DJ you are today?
Everything has evolved since 2006: my music selection, mixing, performance, stage presence and ability to read the crowd. With more experience, my choices and the way I build a musical journey have become stronger and more refined.
What&rsquo;s next for DJ Redo? Are there any new projects, collaborations, performances or musical directions you&rsquo;re particularly excited to explore?
I&rsquo;m focusing more on music production and remixes and taking that side of my career to the next level. Hopefully, you&rsquo;ll be hearing many new original tracks and remixes on my own channel under the name DJ Redoo.

Speaking on the show, Ola discussed her journey as both an entrepreneur and a mother, explaining how her own struggle to find suitable content for her child inspired her to create Satoota TV. She also shared her views on screen time, children's content and the importance of preserving the Arabic language and cultural identity.
Satoota&rsquo;s Journey
Ola explained that the idea for Satoota came from her own experience as a mother.
&ldquo;When I had my firstborn, I had issues finding safe content for children to listen to or watch,&rdquo; she said, noting that much of the content available to her was either in English or Modern Standard Arabic.
The experience made her realise there was a need for children's content that felt closer to Egyptian families, their everyday language and their culture.
&ldquo;We wanted to do something safe and appropriate to our culture,&rdquo; Ola said.
She also pointed out that children today are growing up surrounded by smartphones and technology, meaning children's content needs to reflect the world they already live in.
To ensure Satoota's content is age-appropriate and supports children's development, Ola said the team consulted educators and early childhood development specialists.
Keeping Arabic Close To Children
For Ola, creating Arabic-language content is also about helping children maintain a connection with their language and identity.
&ldquo;It's beautiful to be bilingual, but it's also important to know your language and your identity,&rdquo; she explained.
Ola said that while her children may speak English at school, she believes it is equally important for them to know Arabic and feel proud of their Egyptian identity.
Building The Satoota Universe
Ola revealed that the team puts considerable thought into developing Satoota's characters and wider universe.
The platform features characters inspired by different creatures, alongside music and storytelling designed to make learning entertaining for young children.
The aim, she explained, is to create a world that children enjoy while continuing to offer meaningful and educational content.
How Parents Can Choose Children's Content
Ola also discussed the responsibility parents have when deciding what their children watch.
She explained that children are increasingly exposed to screens, making it important for parents to pay attention not only to how much content they consume, but also to what they are watching.
According to Ola, Satoota uses 2D animation and pastel colours while avoiding overly fast animation and excessively vivid visuals. She said these choices are intended to create content that is comfortable and appropriate for young viewers.
She also stressed that today's children are exposed to technology from an early age.
&ldquo;Kids now are too smart and more exposed,&rdquo; Ola said, pointing out that even young children can encounter AI and the internet and access information much more easily than previous generations.
For her, this makes the responsibility of children's content creators even greater, as they need to create content that entertains children while also supporting their development.
Finding The Right Balance With Screen Time
Screen time was another important part of the conversation.
Ola discussed recommendations around limiting children's screen exposure, particularly for younger children, while emphasising that parents should also consider what their children are watching when they do use screens.
Her focus, she explained, is not simply on reducing screen time, but also on ensuring that the content children consume is safe and beneficial.
From YouTube To Real-Life Experiences
Satoota TV has also built a growing online audience, with Ola highlighting the platform's strong performance on YouTube and more than 300,000 subscribers.
&ldquo;We're very lucky. People love our product,&rdquo; she said.
However, Ola explained that Satoota is not limited to digital content. The team also organises events where children can meet and interact with the characters in real life, allowing the Satoota universe to extend beyond the screen.
The Song That Connected With Children
One of Satoota's standout moments came with its Arabic alphabet song, which became particularly popular among children.
Ola explained that the song helped make learning the Arabic alphabet easier and more enjoyable for young viewers.
Behind the seemingly simple content, however, is a significant production process.
Ola revealed that producing a single episode can take considerable time, particularly when it comes to animation. She also addressed assumptions that Satoota's animation is created using AI, explaining that the production process involves writing, testing the material with children and reviewing the audio before completing the final product without using AI.
Building An Audience Organically
Ola also shared the mindset she adopts when creating content for Satoota.
&ldquo;I always put in mind that I am creating for one person, even though I'm talking to hundreds,&rdquo; she explained.
Rather than thinking about a large audience while creating, Ola imagines speaking directly to one child. She believes this makes the content feel more personal and allows the team to better understand whether children are connecting with what they see and hear.
The Moments That Made Ola Proud
For Ola, some of Satoota's most meaningful moments have come from seeing children interact with the content.
She described watching children sing along to Satoota's songs as an emotional experience, particularly because the entire team shares the same vision.
One of the most touching moments, she said, is receiving messages from parents telling her that their children learned their first word through Satoota.
These personal messages have made the journey especially meaningful for Ola, showing her that the platform's impact goes beyond views and subscribers.

Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah has broken his silence after Trabzonspor suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Ferencvaros and were eliminated from the UEFA Europa League.

Trabzonspor Reject Fatih Tekke&rsquo;s Resignation

Omar Marmoush&rsquo;s Journey To The Premier League
Born in Cairo, Marmoush began his professional career with Wadi Degla at the age of 17 before moving to Germany and joining VfL Wolfsburg in 2017.
He subsequently spent time on loan at FC St Pauli and VfB Stuttgart, where he earned Bundesliga Rookie of the Month honours, before returning to Wolfsburg and establishing himself as a first-team player.
Marmoush joined Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023 and enjoyed an impressive spell at the club, scoring 37 goals and providing 20 assists in 67 appearances.
His performances earned him a move to Manchester City in January 2025.
Marmoush made an immediate impact in the Premier League, scoring a hat-trick in a 4-0 victory over Newcastle United in February 2025.

From ancient Egyptian artefacts displayed in China to ballet performances, exhibitions, cinema, language exchange and cultural festivals, Egypt and China have built extensive cultural ties reflecting the shared heritage of two of the world's oldest civilisations.
The relationship is set to receive further attention as Chinese President Xi Jinping prepares to visit Egypt in the coming days, according to the Egyptian Presidency.
Presidential spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said Xi will meet Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to discuss ways of strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as regional and international issues.
Beyond political and economic cooperation, culture, heritage and people-to-people exchanges have remained important elements of Egypt-China relations.
A new documentary book, &ldquo;Egyptian-Chinese Relations Over 70 Years&rdquo;, has also been issued by Egypt's State Information Service, documenting the development of ties since diplomatic relations were established on 30 May 1956. Published in Arabic and Chinese, the book covers major milestones in the political, economic, cultural, scientific and technological relationship between the two countries.
Egypt-China Cultural Year
One of the most significant milestones in cultural cooperation came in 2016, when Egypt and China designated the year as the Egyptian-Chinese Cultural Year.
The year was launched by El-Sisi and Xi during a joint celebration at Luxor Temple in January 2016, marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The opening ceremony featured more than 200 performers from Egypt and China in a programme bringing together music, dance, ballet and other art forms.
The wider cultural year included around 200 events, including visual arts exhibitions and performances by Chinese and Cairo Opera Ballet artists.
Egypt continued to expand its cultural presence in China, taking part in the Shanghai Tourism Festival in September 2017, where it received the Most Popular Tourist Destination award.
In September 2020, Egypt also participated in the International Tourism and Culture Exhibition in Guangzhou, showcasing Egyptian cultural and heritage products alongside tourism programmes.
Ancient Egyptian Heritage On Display In China
Archaeology has become another important area of Egypt-China cultural cooperation, giving Chinese audiences opportunities to explore Egypt's ancient civilisation through major exhibitions.
In February 2024, Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities and the Shanghai Museum signed a cooperation protocol for a temporary archaeological exhibition in China.
&ldquo;On Top of the Pyramid: The Civilization of Ancient Egypt&rdquo; opened at the Shanghai Museum in July 2024, featuring 787 artefacts from different periods of ancient Egyptian civilisation. The exhibition included statues, jewellery, coffins and other objects illustrating aspects of kingship, daily life, religion, writing and beliefs about the afterlife.
The exhibition attracted significant interest in China, with tickets for its opening day selling out and hundreds of thousands of tickets sold before and shortly after its opening.
The exhibition was also described by Egyptian officials as an important platform for promoting cultural tourism and strengthening people-to-people understanding between the two countries.
Education And Language As Cultural Bridges
Education and language have also played an important role in Egypt-China cultural exchange.
The two countries have cooperated on introducing Chinese as an optional second foreign language in Egyptian schools, while educational initiatives have also encouraged exchanges between students and institutions. Around 24,000 Chinese students study Arabic in Egypt, while 16 Egyptian universities have established Chinese language departments or teach Chinese as part of their curricula.
Egypt is home to Confucius Institutes at Suez Canal University, Cairo University and Ain Shams University, supporting Chinese-language and cultural education.
Chinese-language programmes have also expanded at Egyptian universities, while Egyptian students have opportunities to study in China.
The Egyptian Luban Workshop has added another dimension to educational cooperation, providing technical and vocational training for young Egyptians.

The Chinese Cultural Center in Cairo has become another platform for cultural exchange, hosting activities covering cinema, traditional arts, visual arts and Chinese culture, as well as joint exhibitions and cultural events.

"I never try to be pushy in a negative way because the world is small," he explained. "If it's somebody I really admire and want to work with, I'll find another way to reach them. If someone is ignoring you, get to the point where they can't avoid you, but do it respectfully." "I never get scared of reaching out to anybody because there will always be another person." To him, rejection is simply part of the process rather than something to avoid. "A lot of people ask for opportunities expecting to get something immediately," he said. While he's happy to help others, he believes opportunities must be matched by effort. "People who feel entitled rarely put in the work. Entitlement at a young age is a recipe for disaster." He added that many experienced entrepreneurs avoid working with people who believe success should simply be handed to them. Convincing High-Profile Guests to Say Yes One of the questions Kerolos receives most often is how he convinces influential entrepreneurs to appear in his videos. His answer is surprisingly simple. Many of the successful people he interviews aren't interested in publicity at all. "I actually love interviewing people who don't like publicity." Instead of focusing on exposure, he approaches them by explaining how their stories can provide value to others, support charitable initiatives, or inspire future entrepreneurs. "It's never about making them famous. They don't need that." Confidence Comes From Repetition For Kerolos, confidence isn't something people are born with, it develops through repetition. "I believe in reps." Before creating content, he spent years working with hospitality business owners in the United States, an experience that taught him how to deal with rejection. "They were probably the most ruthless when it came to saying no." By the time he began filming content in South Africa, approaching strangers felt far less intimidating. However, he believes confidence and repetition work together. "You have to believe in yourself enough to start, and then the reps build the confidence." Many assume successful people possess extraordinary abilities, when in reality they're often ordinary people who have simply spent years mastering their craft. "They just have more experience than you." He also challenged another common misconception, that wealthy people are inherently selfish. "A lot of successful people genuinely want to provide value because they're passionate about what they do." Whether building businesses, creating television, or developing real estate, he believes many successful entrepreneurs simply turned the passions they had as children into lifelong careers. The Craziest Way He Landed a Collaboration Persistence paid off in one unforgettable experience while filming in South Africa. After being rejected five separate times by a potential guest, Kerolos came up with an unconventional solution. He convinced people around the executive to schedule what appeared to be a professional meeting, giving him the opportunity to finally speak with the businessman face-to-face. After a 30-minute conversation, the executive agreed to meet him again the following morning. The experience reinforced Kerolos' belief that persistence often succeeds when paired with creativity and respect. The One Person He'd Love to Meet If given the opportunity to interview anyone, Kerolos doesn't hesitate. "The Lebanese singer Fairuz." Calling her a legend, he says she's someone he's admired for years. Advice to His Younger Self Looking back, Kerolos wishes he had started even earlier. "Make the mistakes early." He believes the teenage years are the perfect time to experiment, fail, and gain experience before adulthood brings greater responsibilities. "Don't wait until you graduate. Start while you're still in school." Officials say the move is part of a wider strategy to encourage natural childbirth in uncomplicated cases, citing its medical benefits for both mothers and newborns. The ministry also highlighted concerns over unnecessary caesarean sections and their associated risks, saying the policy supports safer and more appropriate delivery methods.

ChatGPT from OpenAI, Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, they&rsquo;re no longer &ldquo;coming soon.&rdquo; Writers, designers, and musicians are using them daily. Briefs that used to take hours get knocked out in minutes. A track idea you&rsquo;d sit on for days can be mocked up before your coffee gets cold. The tech is fast. The debate is faster.
From Threat to Teammate
A lot of creatives are changing the game; AI isn&rsquo;t the enemy, it&rsquo;s the new collaborator. Producers are using it to test weird sounds they&rsquo;d never try otherwise. Content creators lean on it to beat blank-page panic or tighten a messy first draft.
Grimes basically set the tone for this mindset. She told fans to go ahead and use AI versions of her voice in their music, just split the royalties if it makes money. No lawsuits, no drama. Just, &ldquo;Let&rsquo;s see what happens.&rdquo;
&nbsp;But then there&rsquo;s the other side. Those viral AI tracks with &ldquo;Drake&rdquo; and &ldquo;The Weeknd&rdquo; last year? Neither artist stepped in a booth. It blew up the whole conversation around consent, identity, and who actually owns a sound.
The Copyright Mess
This is where it gets tense. AI models train on massive amounts of existing work; songs, scripts, paintings, and photos. A lot of it is copyrighted. Most of it was used without permission.
That&rsquo;s why the lawsuits keep coming. The Writers Guild of America drew a hard line during the strikes: AI can&rsquo;t write your screenplay. Human writers stay in control.
Illustrators and photographers are saying the same thing. If your art was used to teach a machine that now generates images in your style, and you weren&rsquo;t asked or paid, that&rsquo;s a problem.&nbsp;
So What&rsquo;s Happening in Egypt?
&nbsp;Cairo&rsquo;s creative scene is already testing the waters. Open TikTok or Instagram and you&rsquo;ll find young Egyptian producers dropping AI-assisted beats, designers using it for quick edits, and digital artists experimenting with new styles.
&nbsp;For a lot of them, AI isn&rsquo;t scary. It&rsquo;s leverage. In a digital economy where speed and volume matter, being able to pitch three solid concepts before noon instead of one by Thursday is a game-changer.
The questions we&rsquo;re still figuring out: Who&rsquo;s teaching people how to use these tools well? Are agencies, labels, and studios ready for how fast this is moving? And if access isn&rsquo;t equal, who gets left behind?
We&rsquo;ve Been Here Before
Every major creative tool started with panic. Photoshop was going to kill photography. Auto-Tune was going to kill real singers. Drum machines were going to kill drummers.
One analyst told the BBC: &ldquo;Every innovation in creative tools starts with fear. Then we realize it just expands what&rsquo;s possible. The human part doesn&rsquo;t disappear, it just moves.&rdquo;
AI can generate, remix, and suggest all day. But it doesn&rsquo;t get obsessed with a weird idea at 2 am. It doesn&rsquo;t have taste. It doesn&rsquo;t have a point of view or a story it needs to tell.
Bottom Line
So maybe the question isn&rsquo;t &ldquo;Can AI be creative?&rdquo;
It&rsquo;s &ldquo;Can we stay creative enough to use it right and make sure it doesn&rsquo;t use us?&rdquo;
The balance between human imagination and machine help? That&rsquo;s where the real story is right now. And it&rsquo;s moving fast.

Is AI Replacing Creativity or Supercharging It? How AI Tools Are Changing Music, Art, and Everyday Life

Egypt&rsquo;s Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, has announced the launch of a nationwide medical and ambulance plan for Eid al-Fitr 2026, aimed at ensuring readiness across the health system during the holiday period.
The ministry said more than 700 government hospitals have increased emergency preparedness, with emergency departments and operating theatres functioning around the clock as travel and public gatherings rise.
Ambulance Services and Rapid Response
The plan includes enhanced deployment by the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, with around 3,000 ambulances operating across governorates and an additional 1,200 vehicles positioned at key locations.
Ambulances have been stationed near main roads, public squares, mosques, Eid prayer areas, parks, and other gathering points. Twenty-seven emergency rooms are linked to a central control centre to enable real-time monitoring and dispatch, while regional officials oversee high-traffic areas.

Focus on Major Roads
Authorities say priority has been given to major routes, including the coastal road between Damietta and Matrouh, the Cairo-Alexandria desert road, the agricultural road, as well as routes in South Sinai, the Red Sea, and Upper Egypt.
More than 600 fixed and mobile ambulance points have been deployed along these roads to allow rapid response to accidents.
Hospital Preparedness
Hospitals have also increased capacity in emergency and intensive care units. Around 250 facilities have been designated as primary referral centres on highways, supported by 54 rapid response teams for large-scale incidents.
Blood banks have been supplied with an additional 40,000 units, and medical stocks have been reinforced to meet potential demand.
Public Health Measures
The preventive medicine sector has intensified inspections of more than 35,000 food outlets, including sweet shops, restaurants, hotels, parks, and public transport hubs.
Around 1,200 inspection teams have been deployed to monitor compliance with health and safety standards.
Monitoring and Public Guidance

The ministry has also urged the public to follow health guidelines, with the hotline 137 available for medical enquiries and emergency assistance throughout the Eid holiday.

Airing from 8 to 10 AM, the conversation explored international collaboration, student mobility, and the benefits of transnational education for learners seeking global opportunities without leaving home.
Defining Herself as an Educator
Nesma shared her personal perspective on her role: &ldquo;So I&rsquo;m at the British Council, but how I define myself is as an educator, an education researcher. I&rsquo;ve been working in higher education for 15 years, which technically means research around higher education opportunities within the region, with the aim of informing the UK sector of these opportunities and then bridging, making connections, and building these relationships between the UK, Egypt, and beyond.&rdquo;
When asked why education is such a passion, she said, &ldquo;I&rsquo;ve always been a lifelong learner. Education is at the core of development, supporting people to find what they&rsquo;re meant to do and helping nations meet their goals. Knowledge is power, regardless of where it comes from.&rdquo;
What is Transnational Education?
The discussion then turned to transnational education (TNE). Nesma explained: &ldquo;Transnational education is when a university in one country offers a programme or a degree in another country, physically moving to meet students where they are. Instead of Egyptian students travelling to get a degree in the UK, the UK institution comes to Egypt and delivers that in-country through different models.&rdquo;
She highlighted the accessibility of this model: &ldquo;This increases access to international education for students who can&rsquo;t travel for personal, family, or financial reasons. You get the benefits of an international degree without ever having to leave home.&rdquo;
Models of Transnational Education
On international branch campuses: &ldquo;This is one of the independent models of transnational education where a university expands to a new country, offering the same programmes and teaching methods, and bringing its expertise into a new context. Students graduate with one international degree that is very similar to what they would receive if they studied abroad.&rdquo;
On joint degrees: &ldquo;Joint degrees are when two universities come together to develop a programme. You have international expertise alongside local knowledge, creating something relevant to students and their context. It&rsquo;s co-created, combining the strengths of both institutions into one degree accredited by both.&rdquo;
On digital learning: &ldquo;This could be fully online learning, where you&rsquo;re in Egypt studying at a university abroad, which is still transnational education. There are also blended models combining online and face-to-face learning, usually involving a local partner and an international partner. The international side may develop the virtual learning environment and resources, while local expertise ensures the content is contextualised. Exams, for example, may take place in Egypt, even if systems are hosted abroad.&rdquo;
Why Egypt is a Key Destination
Egypt has become the fourth-largest host country globally for UK transnational education programmes, with around 38,000 students enrolled. Nesma explained the appeal: &ldquo;Egypt has 3.8 million students in higher education, expected to grow to 5 million by 2030. There&rsquo;s strong demand, and universities in Egypt are keen to partner with international counterparts. Students trust UK institutions, and government strategies highlight internationalisation as a priority.&rdquo;
The Benefits for Students
The advantages extend beyond studying locally. Nesma highlighted global recognition and employability: &ldquo;You get a degree that can be used anywhere in the world without needing revalidation. Students also develop critical thinking, leadership, communication, and intercultural skills that are highly valued by employers.&rdquo;
She also emphasised the British Council&rsquo;s role: &ldquo;We work with governments, institutions, and learners. We help ensure supportive regulations, bring stakeholders together through networking, and guide students on accessing opportunities. Everything we do is research-driven to continuously improve partnerships.&rdquo;
Regional Collaboration through Deep Dialogues
Nesma discussed the recent regional Deep Dialogue in Cairo: &ldquo;Participants from 11 countries came together to learn from different models of transnational education. Mature ecosystems like Egypt shared insights with countries still developing their frameworks. We discussed regulation, quality assurance, and engaged directly with students to understand their experiences.&rdquo;
She added, &ldquo;These dialogues build a community of practice. Connections continue beyond the event, creating sustainable networks that support education across the region.&rdquo;

Nesma concluded with a forward-looking perspective: &ldquo;Successful models in more developed systems can help guide countries in earlier stages. At its core, this is about improving education, expanding opportunities, and empowering students to reach their potential while contributing to society. Mathilde Arcel Wins Best Actress
&ldquo;Woman Unknown&rdquo; continued its winning streak as Mathilde Arcel took home the Volpi Cup for Best Actress.
The award marks a major milestone for the Danish actress, who described the recognition as an especially meaningful moment during her first lead role and first appearance at a film festival.
&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve looked up to [you] my entire life,&rdquo; Arcel said during her emotional acceptance speech, describing the moment as one she never wanted to wake up from.
Her win alongside El-Toukhy&rsquo;s Golden Lion gave &ldquo;Woman Unknown&rdquo; a major double victory at the festival.
Malkovich's Absence
John Malkovich received the Volpi Cup for Best Actor for his performance as an eccentric CIA agent in Martin McDonagh&rsquo;s &ldquo;Wild Horse Nine.&rdquo;
The 72-year-old actor was not present at the awards ceremony because he was filming another project in Montreal. Instead, he appeared through a video message to accept the honor.
&ldquo;I am humbled to be chosen for this award,&rdquo; Malkovich said, thanking the jury, McDonagh and his fellow cast members, including Sam Rockwell.
Lee Chang-dong Takes Grand Jury Prize
The Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize went to South Korean filmmaker Lee Chang-dong for &ldquo;Possible Love.&rdquo;
The film follows two married couples from different social backgrounds whose lives intersect as they confront their relationships, desires and different circumstances.
The award marks another major achievement for Lee Chang-dong, whose film will represent South Korea in the international feature film race at the Academy Awards.

Venice Film Festival 2026 Awards: Full List Of Winners And Winning Films

Two iconic actors are teaming up again. Asser Yassin and Hend Sabry have worked together in several projects before, but never as each other's lead. Both actors confirmed the news on Instagram, announcing they'll star together in a new series, "Asal Ahmar."
Plot
"Asal Ahmar" follows a journalist who embarks on a perilous journey to write a book about a serial killer. She finds herself entangled in a web of dark secrets that exposes deep-seated collusion and corruption within religious and security institutions during the 1980s and 1990s. The series stars Hend Sabry, Asser Yassin, Abbas Abo Elhassan, and Samaa Ibrahim. The story is by Ibrahim Eissa, the screenplay and dialogue are by Mohamed Hesham Abeya, and it is directed by Mariam Ahmadi.
This isn't the first time Hend and Asser have collaborated. Here are their previous works:
Ard Khas Series (2010)
Both Asser Yassin and Hend Sabry appeared in "Ard Khas" as guest stars, playing themselves, appearing under their real names and identities as famous artists within the context of the show's dramatic events.
Genainat el-Asmak (2008)
In the film "Genainat el-Asmak," Asser Yassin played a police officer in a brief appearance, while Hend Sabry played the main role of Laila Bakr, the presenter of a late-night radio program.
El Jazeera (2007)
In &ldquo;El Jazeera,&rdquo; the two actors appeared together on screen, with Asser Yassin playing Mahmoud Najeh, Karima&rsquo;s brother. Hend Sabry portrayed Karima, a strong Upper Egyptian woman caught up in the power struggles surrounding the Hefny family.
Karima&rsquo;s brother is killed during the events of the film by her lover, Mansour El Hefny, played by Ahmed El Sakka.
Lahazat Harega (2007)
Asser Yassin portrayed Tariq, a civil engineer, as a guest star in the series &ldquo;Lahazat Harega.&rdquo; Hend Sabry also appeared as a guest star in one episode, playing the role of a prisoner. However, the two actors did not share scenes in this project.
Emaret Yacoubian (2006)
In &ldquo;Emaret Yacoubian,&rdquo; Asser Yassin appeared in a supporting role, while Hend Sabry was among the film&rsquo;s main characters.
Set inside the famous Yacoubian Building in downtown Cairo, the film follows the intersecting lives of residents from different social classes, backgrounds, and political and intellectual perspectives, reflecting the wider changes taking place in Egyptian society.
With two of Egypt&rsquo;s most prominent actors coming together for &ldquo;Asal Ahmar,&rdquo; audiences are eager to see Hend Sabry and Asser Yassin share the spotlight in what marks their first major project together as leading stars.
