<p>From the coastal city of Alexandria to performances across international venues, DJ Shika Saber is set to take over this week&rsquo;s edition of NileFM&rsquo;s DJ of the Week. For the DJ and producer, however, music is about more than filling dance floors. It is about telling stories through sound.</p>
<p>Listeners can tune in at 10:00 p.m. to hear Shika Saber present a one hour set on NileFM, blending Afro house and melodic house influences inspired by his travels and live performances.</p>
<p>Ahead of the show, NileFM spoke to the DJ about his musical beginnings, international experiences, and approach to creating sets that connect with audiences.</p>
<p><strong>Early Beginnings In Alexandria</strong></p>
<p><strong>1. Could you tell us about your journey and what motivated you to become a DJ?</strong></p>
<p>My journey started in Alexandria, where I was surrounded by a diverse musical atmosphere. I have always been drawn to rhythm and storytelling through sound, and Afro house and melodic house gave me a way to express both emotion and energy. What motivated me was the ability to connect people on a deeper level. Seeing how music can unite a crowd regardless of background pushed me to pursue DJing seriously and evolve into music production as well.</p>

<p><strong>International Influence On His Sound</strong></p>
<p><strong>2. You frequently travel between cities such as Jordan and Dubai. In what ways has this international exposure influenced your work?</strong></p>
<p>Travelling has greatly expanded my perspective. Each place has its own vibe and audience energy. Dubai is very dynamic and high energy, while Jordan has a more soulful and intimate feel. This contrast has helped me balance my sets between powerful drops and emotional melodies, making my sound more versatile and globally appealing.</p>
<p><strong>3. How do different cultural environments impact your musical style and set selection?</strong></p>
<p>I always read the crowd and consider the cultural context. In some places, people connect more with deep, melodic journeys, while others respond more to groove driven Afro rhythms. I adapt by blending both worlds, keeping my signature sound while tailoring the energy and progression to suit the environment.</p>
<p><strong>Memorable Performances And Creative Process</strong></p>
<p><strong>4. Have you experienced a particularly memorable moment while performing live?</strong></p>
<p>One of the most memorable moments was seeing a crowd completely locked into a melodic Afro track that I produced. It was one of those moments when everyone is in sync, and you instantly feel the connection. That kind of energy reminds me why I do this.</p>
<p><strong>5. Could you describe your process for preparing and structuring a DJ set?</strong></p>
<p>I usually start by understanding the setting and audience. Then I build a journey, beginning with deeper atmospheric sounds, gradually increasing the energy and creating emotional peaks. I organise my tracks by mood and key to ensure smooth transitions, but I always leave room for improvisation depending on the crowd&rsquo;s reaction.</p>
<p><strong>6. Was there a defining moment in your career that confirmed your potential for success as a DJ?</strong></p>
<p>Yes, performing outside Egypt for the first time was a turning point. Seeing an international audience connect with my sound gave me confidence that what I am doing can reach beyond borders and has real potential.</p>
<p><strong>Joining NileFM&rsquo;s Spotlight For Emerging DJs</strong></p>
<p><strong>7. Do you have a notable memory associated with NileFM that encouraged your application for DJ of the Week?</strong></p>
<p>NileFM has always been a platform that supports fresh talent and modern sounds. I have followed it for years, and being part of it felt like the right step to share my music with a wider audience in Egypt.</p>

<p>I constantly search for new music, follow emerging artists and stay connected with global trends in Afro house and melodic house. I also produce my own tracks, which helps me maintain a unique and up to date sound.</p>
<p><strong>9. Should audiences anticipate any unique elements in your DJ of the Week performance?</strong></p>
<p>Definitely. I will be blending Afro house rhythms with melodic elements, including some of my own unreleased tracks. The set is designed as a journey, something immersive that builds emotion and energy throughout the hour.</p>
<p><strong>Advice For Emerging DJs</strong></p>
<p><strong>10. What advice would you offer to aspiring DJs aiming to perform internationally and on platforms such as NileFM?</strong></p>
<p>Stay authentic to your sound but be adaptable. Consistency is key. Keep practising, keep learning, and do not rush the process. Networking and understanding different audiences are just as important as technical skills. Most importantly, let your passion guide you.</p>

<p>Popular Egyptian comedy series El Le&rsquo;ba continues to draw audiences&rsquo; attention with its evolving characters and sharp humour. In its latest season, attention has turned to Kareem, played by rising actor Hassan Wael.</p>
<p>Wael first appeared in the show in 2020 at the age of 12. Now 18, his return in season five offers viewers a chance to see both his personal and on-screen development. His character brings comedic contrast to his father Mazo, played by Hesham Maged, with their relationship forming one of the show&rsquo;s central dynamics.</p>
<p>While Mazo encourages a carefree, playful lifestyle, Kareem aspires to become a scientist, creating a humorous and relatable clash between the two.</p>
<p>In an exclusive interview with NileFM, Wael speaks about his journey in acting, his experiences growing up on set, and how the series has shaped his career.</p>

<p><strong>Could you introduce yourself and tell us what first drew you to acting?</strong></p>
<p>I&rsquo;m 18 years old and currently in my final year of high school. I first became interested in acting because of my older sister. She wanted to be an actress and used to perform sketches when she was younger. My mother noticed her talent, so we started going to casting offices with the intention that she would pursue acting, not me.</p>
<p>However, when I began accompanying my sister to filming locations, whether for TV series or other projects, I became fascinated by the entire process: the acting, the preparation, and the cameras. That&rsquo;s when I realised I had developed a passion for acting myself.</p>

<p><strong>&ldquo;El Le&rsquo;ba&rdquo; has been running for several years. How does it feel to look back at the early seasons compared to now?</strong></p>
<p>When I look back, I see how much the characters, storylines, and scripts have developed from the first season until now. We&rsquo;ve also grown as a team, we started as colleagues, but over time we&rsquo;ve become more like a family.</p>

<p><strong>Your character Kareem has a unique relationship with his father. How did you balance humour with realism in portraying it?</strong></p>
<p>Presenting the character in a way that is both humorous and believable comes mainly from the rehearsals we do with Hesham Maged. We rehearse extensively, which helps us build that father-son dynamic and highlight the contrast in their personalities; the father who wants his son to be carefree and rebellious, and the son who wants his father to be responsible. A lot of that work happens behind the scenes.</p>

<p><strong>What are behind-the-scenes moments like, especially working with actors such as Hesham Maged and Chico, and director Moataz El-Tony?</strong></p>
<p>I would divide the experience into two phases: seasons one to four, and then season five. In the earlier seasons, I couldn&rsquo;t quite that I was working with such big stars and an accomplished director like Moataz El-Tony. I was quite nervous and tended to keep to myself.</p>
<p>By season five, things had completely changed. We became much closer, more like a family. Of course, I&rsquo;ve grown older, but the senior actors like Hesham Maged and Chico were the ones who first reached out and helped me feel comfortable. That encouraged me to open up, talk more, and learn from them.</p>
<p>For me, season five has been the most enjoyable behind the scenes because we&rsquo;ve become closer and there&rsquo;s more room to exchange ideas. That even reflects in the script, as we sometimes make adjustments before filming.</p>

<p><strong>You&rsquo;ve worked on several projects. Do you feel comedy is the genre closest to you?</strong></p>
<p>I&rsquo;ve worked on series such as &ldquo;El-Nehaya&rdquo; with Youssef El-Sherif and &ldquo;Al-Wasiya&rdquo; with Akram Hosny and Ahmed Amin. I do feel that comedy is closest to me, as it&rsquo;s often said that a strong comedic actor can also perform well in dramatic roles.</p>
<p>Most of my work has been within a comedic framework. The only project that leaned more towards drama was &ldquo;El-Nehaya&rdquo;. However, I would definitely welcome the opportunity to take on more dramatic or tragic roles in the future.</p>

<p><strong>How similar are you to your character Kareem in real life?</strong></p>
<p>The character is actually quite close to me. My family often jokes, asking whether I&rsquo;m studying in the series or in real life. One of the traits we share is being hardworking and focused on our studies.</p>
<p><strong>Looking back over the past six years, what is the biggest change you see in yourself as an actor?</strong></p>
<p>After season four, there was a two-year break, which I used to work on improving myself. I&rsquo;m surrounded by actors with a strong on-screen presence, so I needed to develop my skills to keep up.</p>
<p>Many people supported me, especially Hesham Maged. If I wasn&rsquo;t sure how to approach a scene, he would guide me. Director Moataz El-Tony also played a major role in improving my performance this season.</p>

<p><strong>Why do you think &ldquo;El Le&rsquo;ba&rdquo; has remained so successful over the years?</strong></p>
<p>There are several reasons. One of the most important is that the concept was fresh and hadn&rsquo;t been presented before. The chemistry between Chico and Hesham Maged is also very strong, which gives the series its unique spirit.</p>
<p>In addition, the writing continues to evolve each season, and having a strong comedy director like Moataz El-Tony plays a key role in the show&rsquo;s success.</p>

Exclusive | Rising Actor Hassan Wael On Growing Up With “El Le’ba”

<p>Playing music for others is what continues to drive Cairo-based DJ and producer Karim Auf as he builds his place within Egypt&rsquo;s growing electronic music scene.<br />Speaking to NileFM programme &ldquo;Let&rsquo;s Dance with Nancy&rdquo;, Auf reflected on his musical journey, the evolution of his sound and the moments that shaped his career.<br /><strong>Beyond The Decks</strong><br />Music has been a central part of Auf&rsquo;s life for more than 15 years. Drawing inspiration from everyday sounds, his influences span several genres, including jazz and rock.<br />His approach to DJing, he says, is centred on emotion and storytelling.<br />&ldquo;My goal is to take the audience on a journey through music,&rdquo; he says.<br />Despite regularly performing in nightlife venues and festivals, Auf describes himself as someone who enjoys a quieter lifestyle away from the stage.<br />&ldquo;I&rsquo;m a very domestic person. I like having my own space and time to explore nature and sounds,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;I also love cooking and fishing.&rdquo;<br /><strong>From Music Fan To DJ</strong><br />Auf says his relationship with music began unexpectedly during his childhood.<br />&ldquo;I had a portable PlayStation where I used to download music instead of playing games,&rdquo; he recalls. &ldquo;I loved controlling the music while my friends were dancing. That&rsquo;s when I realised this was what I wanted to do.&rdquo;<br />His first experiences as a DJ came through house parties around 2008.<br />&ldquo;My friends liked the music I played, so I recorded a two-hour set even though I didn&rsquo;t really know how to use the mixer properly yet,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;When I saw people dancing, I felt like Ti&euml;sto in that moment.&rdquo;<br /><strong>Breakthrough Moments</strong><br />One of Auf&rsquo;s defining career moments came after producing a track inspired by the melodic techno sound associated with Afterlife.<br />&ldquo;I created the track from the heart without expecting anything,&rdquo; he says.<br />The track later gained support from international artists including Kevin de Vries and Tale of Us, helping expand his profile within the electronic music scene.<br />&ldquo;In the past, the spotlight wasn&rsquo;t really on Egyptian producers,&rdquo; Auf says. &ldquo;Now there is much more international attention on the scene here.&rdquo;<br /><strong>Sharing Stages With International Artists</strong><br />Auf says success came gradually rather than through a single breakthrough moment.<br />&ldquo;I just kept playing music and believing in myself,&rdquo; he says.<br />Among the artists who have influenced him most is Ben B&ouml;hmer.<br />&ldquo;I played with him last summer, and it was magical,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;He inspires me all the time.&rdquo;<br />He also described performing alongside Mathame at an Alter event as a major milestone.<br />&ldquo;It was a challenging slot because I was playing after one of the giants,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;The challenge was keeping the energy high and letting the crowd stay and party with me, even though I was the final act.&rdquo;<br /><strong>The Story Behind &ldquo;Breakaway&rdquo;</strong><br />Auf also discussed &ldquo;Breakaway&rdquo;, his collaboration with Zinnian Abdu.<br />&ldquo;We spent hours in the studio working on small details until we reached the final version,&rdquo; he says.<br />The track later became part of his performances outside Egypt, including a show in AlUla in Saudi Arabia.<br /><strong>Egypt&rsquo;s Growing Electronic Scene</strong><br />According to Auf, Egypt&rsquo;s electronic music scene continues to expand rapidly.<br />&ldquo;It&rsquo;s booming, but it&rsquo;s still developing,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;Egyptian DJs are exploring more opportunities internationally, and we have amazing talent here.&rdquo;<br />He believes Egyptian audiences bring a unique energy to live events.<br />&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve seen crowds around the world, but Egyptians definitely know how to party,&rdquo; he says.<br /><strong>What&rsquo;s Next?</strong><br />Auf revealed that he is currently working on a remix with producer Zany from Fade Republic, which is expected to be released next month.<br />He also confirmed an upcoming performance in Egypt alongside Magdalena on 16 May.</p>

How has this cultural mix influenced your identity and the sound you create as a DJ and producer?</strong><br /> Being born in Zimbabwe and having Egyptian roots gave me a unique perspective on rhythm, culture, and emotion. Africa has such deep musical heritage, and Egypt has its own timeless melodies and spirit. That combination naturally shaped my sound. I love blending percussion, soul, groove, and emotion in a way that reflects both sides of who I am.</p>

What is your creative process when building a track?</strong><br /> My creative process usually starts with emotion. I ask myself what feeling I want people to experience. Then I build the groove first, because rhythm is the heartbeat of the track. After that I add melodies, textures, vocals, and atmosphere to create a journey. I always try to balance energy with emotion.</p>
<p><strong>3. Your music is played around the world. How does it feel to see your sound travel globally, and what message or emotion do you hope listeners take away from it?</strong><br /> It feels amazing and humbling to know music can travel beyond borders and connect people everywhere. My biggest goal is to share peace, joy, and love through sound. There is already so much negativity happening in the world, so I want my music to be a positive escape that uplifts people.</p>
<p><strong>4. Could you take us through your journey? How did you start in music, and what made you decide to become a DJ and producer?</strong><br /> My journey started from a deep love of music and discovering how powerful it is in bringing people together. I Practiced the electric guitar when I was young then I tried producing dubstep in 2012, djing&nbsp;inspired me because I loved creating moments and energy for people. Producing came before DJing, because I wanted to create my own sound and express emotions through music.</p>
<p><strong>5. You are known for your remixes. What goes into your process when choosing a song to remix, and what makes a track the right fit for your style?</strong><br /> I choose songs that already have strong emotion or memorable vocals. If I hear something that moves me, I know I can reimagine it in my own style. Then I add groove, Afro-inspired rhythm, and deeper atmosphere while respecting the original feeling of the song.</p>
<p><strong>6. What challenges do you face when blending the deep energy of Afrohouse rhythms with emotional or motivational elements in your music?</strong><br /> The challenge is finding the right balance. You want people to dance, but you also want them to feel something real. Sometimes too much energy can remove emotion, and too much emotion can lose the groove. I always work to make both elements support each other naturally.</p>
<p><strong>7. After being selected as DJ of the Week on NileFM, how does that recognition feel for you? Can listeners expect any surprises during today&rsquo;s show or set?</strong><br /> It feels like a real honor and I&rsquo;m very grateful for the recognition. NileFM is such a respected platform, I used to listen to NileFM while going to school, so being selected means a lot to me. Listeners can definitely expect good energy, emotional moments, fresh sounds, and a few surprises in the set.</p>

I use melodies, vocals, drums, and tension to tell a story from beginning to end. Afro rhythms bring movement, while melodies bring emotion, and together they create a journey.</p>
<p><strong>9. What can we expect from you next? Are there any upcoming releases or collaborations you can share?</strong><br /> There is a lot coming soon. I&rsquo;m excited to share that I&rsquo;ll be releasing a new track soon with a German label. I&rsquo;m also working on more music that continues to blend groove, emotion, and uplifting energy, so people can expect fresh releases and new sounds.</p>

Inspired by the island&rsquo;s legendary club scene, Khalifa later moved to Barcelona to study music production before returning to Egypt to build his career.<br />Now, Khalifa will take listeners on a musical journey as he premieres his new track &ldquo;Sweet Fall&rdquo; exclusively on NileFM as DJ of the Week, airing at 10:00 PM. The one-hour set promises nostalgic influences blended with emotional electronic sounds.<br />NileFM spoke with Khalifa to learn more about his musical journey and the story behind his new track &ldquo;Sweet Fall,&rdquo; which has already received support from DJs including Themba.</p>
<p><strong>Your passion for electronic music was sparked during your travels across Europe, especially nights spent in Ibiza&rsquo;s iconic clubs. What inspired you to move to Barcelona in 2016 to study music production, and how did that experience shape your sound before returning to Egypt?</strong><br />Ibiza 2014 changed everything for me. The energy, the production level, the way music moves people at that scale, I knew I wanted to be part of that world seriously. Everywhere you go, there is electronic music playing, be it in the hotel lobby, taxi, or even pharmacies. Barcelona was the next step; it gave me the foundation I needed. I also went back to Ibiza in 2019 for a Point Blank course and got selected with a few other students to play at Destino Pacha, which was a massive moment. Coming back to Egypt, I brought all of that with me and mixed it with where I&rsquo;m from. That&rsquo;s basically my sound.</p>

<p><strong>Was there a specific moment when you realized you wanted to become a DJ and music producer?</strong><br />Avicii at Ushuaia 2014 for sure. Being in those parties and watching how a DJ controls the energy, I didn&rsquo;t want to just be in the crowd. I wanted to understand music from the inside. I returned from this trip, downloaded a DAW, and began learning.</p>
<p><strong>You often bring a nostalgic touch to your sets, remixing classics like &ldquo;El Alem Allah&rdquo; by Amr Diab and &ldquo;Youm Wara Youm&rdquo; by Samira Said. What attracts you to nostalgic tracks, and what are the challenges of giving them a fresh electronic twist?</strong><br />Those songs mean something to people. They&rsquo;re tied to real memories. The challenge is respecting that while rebuilding them in a completely different sonic space, you can&rsquo;t strip away what made them special.</p>
<p><strong>How do you usually choose the tracks you remix or include in your sets? </strong><br />Gut feeling mostly. If something gives me a strong visual or emotional reaction when I hear it, I know it has potential. Sometimes I hear a snippet from an old track and instantly get the urge to remix it. For sets, I always want people to feel something when they&rsquo;re listening to my set or coming to the party I&rsquo;m playing at.</p>

<p><strong>How did you succeed in combining your passion for music with your love for exploration and travel?</strong><br />When I became a mother, I realized how complicated travel can feel, especially for women. That&rsquo;s where Travelitegypt came from; it wasn&rsquo;t just a business idea, it was a real need I experienced myself. I wanted to make travel lighter and more accessible for families.</p>

Being featured on NileFM meant a lot to me; it&rsquo;s a platform I&rsquo;ve always respected, so the recognition felt truly significant. A lot of what I do is very personal and intuitive, so being recognized on a platform like NileFM means it&rsquo;s resonating beyond my own space. That reassurance meant a lot, and it pushed me to keep going and stay true to my sound.</p>
<p><strong>What&rsquo;s next for you? Are there any upcoming releases or collaborations your audience should look forward to?</strong><br /> Right now, I&rsquo;m focused on pushing my sound further, both in my DJ sets and music production. <p>Egypt is expected to experience a rise in temperatures on Sunday, with Cairo forecast to reach 33C, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).</p>
<p>The authority said conditions during the day would be very hot across most parts of the country, while northern coastal areas are likely to see milder weather.</p>
<p>Temperatures are expected to ease overnight, with moderate conditions forecast in many regions.</p>
<p>Winds of between 30 and 38km/h are also expected across much of the country. The EMA warned that the strong winds could lead to blowing sand and dust at times in parts of Upper Egypt, the New Valley and South Sinai.</p>
<p>Forecasters also said there is a slight chance of low cloud forming over scattered areas stretching from northern Egypt to Greater Cairo and the Suez Canal cities.</p>
<p>This may bring light drizzle in some areas, although rainfall is not expected to have any significant impact.</p>

<p>Egypt is expected to see a rise in temperatures, with highs of 27C forecast in Cairo on Thursday, 7 May 2026.</p>
<p>Daytime conditions are expected to range from mild to hot across much of the country, while temperatures will become cooler overnight, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).</p>
<p>Winds of 30 to 35km/h are forecast in several areas at times.</p>
<p>Maritime navigation is also expected to be disrupted along parts of the Red Sea coast, as well as the Gulf of Suez and the Gulf of Aqaba. Wind speeds there are expected to range between 40 and 70km/h, with waves reaching between two and 3.5 metres in height.</p>
<p>There is also a slight chance of low cloud cover developing over scattered areas of northern Egypt, Greater Cairo and the Suez Canal cities, which may bring light, non-impactful drizzle in some locations.</p>

<p>Zamalek SC have been hit with a fresh transfer ban by <a href="https://knowledge.fifa.com/registration-bans">FIFA</a>, just hours after moving to the top of the Egyptian Premier League following a win over Smouha SC.</p>
<p>The Cairo club, which has 53 points, was informed of the sanction on FIFA&rsquo;s official website. It is the 16th transfer restriction imposed on the club, coming only days after a previous ban was issued.</p>
<p>The latest punishment relates to an outstanding financial dispute with a former player or coach. It includes a three-transfer-window registration ban, highlighting the seriousness of the unresolved payments.</p>
<p>Zamalek had already been sanctioned for a similar issue prior to their high-profile match against Al Ahly SC, reportedly linked to a delayed payment in the transfer deal for Brazilian player Juan Alvina.</p>

<p>The US dollar edged lower against the Egyptian pound on Wednesday, 6 May 2026, according to rates published by the National Bank of Egypt(NBE).</p>
<p>The dollar was trading at 53.67 pounds, down slightly from 53.73 pounds in the previous session, continuing recent fluctuations in the foreign exchange market.</p>
<p>The British pound rose, with buying rates at 72.66 pounds and selling at 73.10 pounds.</p>
<p>The Euro also gained, reaching 62.75 pounds for buying and 63.13 pounds for selling.</p>
<p>Elsewhere, the Chinese yuan held steady at 7.86 pounds for buying and 7.88 pounds for selling.</p>
<p>Among regional currencies, the UAE dirham declined to 14.59 pounds for buying and 14.64 pounds for selling, reflecting ongoing demand linked to travel and economic ties with Gulf countries.</p>

<p>Egypt is expected to witness a further drop in temperatures across the country on Wednesday, 6 May, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).</p>
<p>Daytime weather is expected to be warm to hot in most areas, while Upper Egypt will experience hotter conditions. Temperatures at night are forecast to become cool, and slightly cold in some areas.</p>
<p>There is also a slight chance of light rain in parts of the northern coastal governorates and northern Lower Egypt at intervals.</p>
<p>Winds of between 30 and 40km/h are expected in parts of Greater Cairo and southern Egypt. The EMA said the winds may also stir up sand and dust in parts of South Sinai and the Red Sea Governorate.</p>
<p>Maritime navigation may be disrupted along parts of the Red Sea coast, where wind speeds are expected to range between 40 and 60km/h, with wave heights reaching two to three metres.</p>
<p>The authority also said low clouds may form over scattered areas in northern Egypt, extending to Greater Cairo and the Suez Canal cities, potentially bringing light drizzle in some places.</p>

<p>Egypt is expected to see a drop in temperatures across much of the country on Tuesday, with the capital, Cairo, forecast to reach a high of 24&deg;C.</p>
<p>The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) said conditions during the day will range from warm to hot in most areas, while Upper Egypt is likely to experience hotter weather.</p>
<p>Temperatures are expected to fall at night, bringing cooler conditions nationwide.</p>
<p>Light to moderate rainfall is forecast in parts of the northern coastal regions and northern areas of the Nile Delta. There is also a 20% chance of light rain in some southern Delta and cities along the Suez Canal, with occasional showers possibly extending to Greater Cairo.</p>
<p>Winds of between 30 and 40 km/h are expected across much of the country. These may cause blowing sand and dust, particularly in parts of South Sinai and the Red Sea governorate.</p>
<p>The EMA also warned that maritime conditions could be affected along sections of both the Mediterranean and Red Sea coasts. Wind speeds may reach 40 to 50 km/h, with waves rising to between two and three metres.</p>

<p>Egypt&rsquo;s Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, has announced the launch of a nationwide medical and ambulance plan for Eid al-Fitr 2026, aimed at ensuring readiness across the health system during the holiday period.</p>
<p>The ministry said more than 700 government hospitals have increased emergency preparedness, with emergency departments and operating theatres functioning around the clock as travel and public gatherings rise.</p>

<p>The plan includes enhanced deployment by the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, with around 3,000 ambulances operating across governorates and an additional 1,200 vehicles positioned at key locations.</p>

<p><strong>Defining Herself as an Educator</strong></p>
<p>Nesma shared her personal perspective on her role: &ldquo;So I&rsquo;m at the British Council, but how I define myself is as an educator, an education researcher. I&rsquo;ve been working in higher education for 15 years, which technically means research around higher education opportunities within the region, with the aim of informing the UK sector of these opportunities and then bridging, making connections, and building these relationships between the UK, Egypt, and beyond.&rdquo;</p>
<p>When asked why education is such a passion, she said, &ldquo;I&rsquo;ve always been a lifelong learner. Education is at the core of development, supporting people to find what they&rsquo;re meant to do and helping nations meet their goals. Knowledge is power, regardless of where it comes from.&rdquo;</p>
<p><strong>What is Transnational Education?</strong></p>
<p>The discussion then turned to transnational education (TNE). Nesma explained: &ldquo;Transnational education is when a university in one country offers a programme or a degree in another country, physically moving to meet students where they are. Instead of Egyptian students travelling to get a degree in the UK, the UK institution comes to Egypt and delivers that in-country through different models.&rdquo;</p>
<p>She highlighted the accessibility of this model: &ldquo;This increases access to international education for students who can&rsquo;t travel for personal, family, or financial reasons. You get the benefits of an international degree without ever having to leave home.&rdquo;</p>
<p><strong>Models of Transnational Education</strong></p>
<p>On international branch campuses: &ldquo;This is one of the independent models of transnational education where a university expands to a new country, offering the same programmes and teaching methods, and bringing its expertise into a new context. Students graduate with one international degree that is very similar to what they would receive if they studied abroad.&rdquo;</p>
<p>On joint degrees: &ldquo;Joint degrees are when two universities come together to develop a programme. You have international expertise alongside local knowledge, creating something relevant to students and their context. It&rsquo;s co-created, combining the strengths of both institutions into one degree accredited by both.&rdquo;</p>
<p>On digital learning: &ldquo;This could be fully online learning, where you&rsquo;re in Egypt studying at a university abroad, which is still transnational education. There are also blended models combining online and face-to-face learning, usually involving a local partner and an international partner. The international side may develop the virtual learning environment and resources, while local expertise ensures the content is contextualised. Exams, for example, may take place in Egypt, even if systems are hosted abroad.&rdquo;</p>
<p><strong>Why Egypt is a Key Destination</strong></p>
<p>Egypt has become the fourth-largest host country globally for UK transnational education programmes, with around 38,000 students enrolled. Nesma explained the appeal: &ldquo;Egypt has 3.8 million students in higher education, expected to grow to 5 million by 2030. There&rsquo;s strong demand, and universities in Egypt are keen to partner with international counterparts. Students trust UK institutions, and government strategies highlight internationalisation as a priority.&rdquo;</p>

<p>The advantages extend beyond studying locally. Nesma highlighted global recognition and employability: &ldquo;You get a degree that can be used anywhere in the world without needing revalidation. Egypt’s Health Minister Hails Magdi Yacoub Foundation for Life-Saving Cardiac Work

<p>Egypt&rsquo;s General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) has granted full and preliminary accreditation to 32 health facilities across the country, according to decisions issued by the Supreme Committee for the Accreditation of Health Facilities.</p>
<p>The move is part of efforts to strengthen quality and patient safety standards in line with internationally recognised benchmarks set by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua).</p>
<p>Officials say the accreditations aim to improve the efficiency of healthcare institutions and prepare them for integration into Egypt&rsquo;s Universal Health Insurance system, which seeks to expand access to safe and high-quality medical services nationwide.</p>
<p>As part of preparations for the system&rsquo;s second phase, Minya Governorate is expected to be among the first areas to implement the programme. The Supreme Committee renewed preliminary accreditation for Minya Oncology Center and granted preliminary accreditation to several hospitals in the governorate, including Samalut Oncology Hospital, El Adwa Central Hospital and Mallawi Liver and Gastroenterology Hospital.</p>
<p>The General Military Hospital in Alexandria, affiliated with the Armed Forces Medical Services, also received preliminary accreditation in accordance with GAHAR standards, reflecting ongoing efforts to strengthen quality and patient safety in healthcare delivery.</p>
<p>Officials say the latest accreditations represent another step in Egypt&rsquo;s broader strategy to standardise healthcare services, improve patient outcomes and prepare facilities for nationwide implementation of the Universal Health Insurance system.</p>

<p>Under the &ldquo;Rabies-Free Egypt 2030&rdquo; strategy, 293 stray dogs were vaccinated in a single day, as authorities shift from crisis management to long-term solutions.<br />Egypt&rsquo;s Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation has launched the first field phase of its national campaign to vaccinate and sterilize stray dogs, starting in the Ain Shams district of Cairo, in a move aimed at protecting public health and addressing the stray dog issue through sustainable and humane measures.<br />The campaign is part of the national strategy &ldquo;Rabies-Free Egypt 2030&rdquo; and reflects a clear policy shift from short-term crisis management to science-based, long-term solutions. Ain Shams was chosen as the starting point due to repeated public complaints and the need for early intervention to reduce health risks associated with rabies.</p>
