Behind it all are two rising scriptwriters, Samar Bahgat and Nadeen Nader, who first met in a workshop and went on to form one of the strongest creative duos in Egyptian drama.</p>

<p><strong>When you first came across the idea of '220 Days,' what made you want to join the project?</strong></p>
<p>The beauty of the series is in its duality two worlds running side by side: reality, and the one Ahmed creates in his novel. It&rsquo;s not just an escape, it&rsquo;s his way of reimagining the life he wants with his daughter. Emotional, layered, and deeply human, the show explores family relationships in a way that feels fresh and unforgettable.</p>
<p><strong>The series mixes deep emotion with medical drama &mdash; how did you approach balancing those two aspects in your writing?</strong></p>
<p>What excited us was finding that balance between the medical storyline and the raw human emotions around it. We didn&rsquo;t just want to show a condition on screen, we wanted to explore how it ripples through people&rsquo;s lives, their choices, relationships, and growth. The series isn&rsquo;t only about the diagnosis, it&rsquo;s about the journey, the resilience, and the humanity behind it. At the same time, we were committed to accuracy, so we collaborated closely with doctors to make sure every stage of the condition was portrayed authentically. It was a real challenge, but also the heart of what makes the show powerful.</p>

<p><strong>What part of scriptwriting do you love the most, building characters, dialogue, or structuring the story?</strong></p>
<p>For me, scriptwriting is a lot like painting. Every part is connected to the other, the storyline, the characters, the dialogue. I enjoy the process of writing dialogue the most, because it allows me to really step into the characters&rsquo; shoes and see the world from their perspective. I often ask myself: how would they react, what would they say, what would they feel in this moment? Living with the characters in this way makes them real to me. And if the words I write can touch someone, make them feel seen or understood, then I feel like my work has truly achieved its purpose.</p>
<p><strong>What was it like writing for Saba Mubarak&rsquo;s character Mariam? Did you picture her in the role while writing?</strong></p>
<p>Mariam is such a complex character, she carries a lot of past baggage and throughout the series she faces some incredibly difficult situations. From the very start of the writing process, we always imagined Saba in the role, and she turned out to be the perfect fit. During the table readings, we had deep discussions with her about Mariam, and together we shaped a unified vision of who this character is and all the sides to her. We explored not only her artistic side and her hidden layers, but also her love story with Ahmed, the fears that surface when she learns about his medical condition, her complicated relationship with her father, her emotional encounter with her mother, and the bond she develops with Magda, Ahmed&rsquo;s mother and the entire family. These many layers don&rsquo;t appear all at once, but unfold gradually, giving the audience a chance to really live with Mariam and discover her piece by piece</p>

<p><strong>What drew you personally to be part of the writing team of 220 Days?</strong></p>
<p>The story felt truly unique, different from anything I had come across before. It blends powerful emotions with imaginative fictional elements in a way that is both refreshing and compelling.</p>
<p><strong>As a scriptwriter, what do you enjoy most about bringing stories like this to life?</strong></p>
<p>The process of transforming emotions, ideas, and imagination into something that feels real on screen. Writing allows me to give characters a voice, build worlds that people can immerse themselves in, and create moments that resonate on a personal level. For me, the most rewarding part is knowing that a story I help shape can move people, touch them, make them think, or even inspire them long after they&rsquo;ve watched it.</p>

<p><strong>How do you usually find inspiration when developing complex characters such as Ahmed?</strong></p>
<p>I focus on the human core of the character, their fears and hopes. With Ahmed Fadl, the inspiration came from his fight against a silent villain: time. Knowing he might not live beyond 220 days, he chooses to create a world where his daughter can always find him. That balance of love, fear, and legacy is what inspired me most.</p>
<p><strong>How was the experience of writing for Karim Fahmy&rsquo;s character? Did his style as an actor influence your writing in any way?</strong></p>
<p>Writing for Karim Fahmy&rsquo;s character was an inspiring experience. His style as an actor, subtle, emotionally layered, and deeply authentic absolutely influenced the way I approached writing his character. Knowing how he brings nuance to even the smallest moments allowed me to craft dialogue and scenes with more depth, trusting that he would elevate them through his performance. In many ways, his presence shaped not only the voice of the character but also how the story&rsquo;s emotional weight came through on screen.</p>

<p><strong>How did you both first meet and decide to collaborate as scriptwriters?</strong></p>
<p>We first met in 'El Motahama's' writing workshop back in 2021, and we immediately connected.</p>
<p><strong>What makes your writing partnership work so smoothly?</strong></p>
<p>We&rsquo;re very much alike in the way we think&mdash;it&rsquo;s almost like looking into a mirror. We never doubt each other&rsquo;s ideas, which makes the collaboration seamless and natural.</p>

<p>We want '220 Days' to stand out through its emotional depth and its unique perspective. It&rsquo;s not just about drama for entertainment&mdash;it&rsquo;s about exploring universal themes like time, love, and legacy in a way that feels both personal and cinematic. My hope is that it leaves a lasting impression on viewers and opens the door for more diverse, thought-provoking storytelling in Egyptian drama.</p>

As a duo, we hope to explore new genres and continue growing through every project we take on.</p>

<p>To mark 50 years since the passing of Umm Kulthum, the Ministry of Culture is launching &ldquo;The Voice of Egypt&rdquo; exhibition today, Monday, August 18th, 2025, at the Arts Complex (Aisha Fahmy Palace) in Zamalek. The exhibition will be launched this evening by Minister of Culture Dr. Ahmed Fouad Heno.<br /> <br /><strong>A Celebration of Art and Memory</strong><br /> <br />Curated by artist Ali Saeed, General Director of the Arts Centers, the exhibition blends fine arts, history, and music into a creative tribute to Kawkab El Shark, Um Kulthum. Visitors can explore contemporary artworks, relevant press clippings, and personal belongings of Umm Kulthum, all on public display for the very first time.<br /> <br /><strong>Speaking to Nile FM, Saeed explained:</strong><br /> <br />&ldquo;We wanted to create something different, a fusion of fine arts with history to honor 50 years since Umm Kulthum&rsquo;s passing.&rdquo;<br /> <br />Saeed added: &ldquo;We combined painting, photography and sculpture with archival press materials that date back to the very beginning of her career, allowing visitors to relive pivotal moments of her life. Several artworks and personal belongings of Umm Kulthum are being displayed publicly for the very first time, which I believe will be a special revelation for visitors.&rdquo;</p>

Umm Kulthum&rsquo;s legacy in the press and in countless scholarly works is vast, and to present I fully could take years. <p>What started as a series of academic lectures has transformed into Journey of Immortality, &lsquo;The Mummification Ritual in Ancient Egypt&rsquo;, a groundbreaking immersive production that goes far beyond historical reenactment. Over the course of two hours, the stage transforms into a sacred ceremonial space; &nbsp;incense drifts through the air, priests chant and the audience becomes part of the ritual, rediscovering ancient Egypt&rsquo;s profound vision of death and the afterlife.</p>
<p>The show arrives at a time of renewed national interest in embracing and reviving authentic Egyptian identity through language, customs, and spiritual traditions, challenging narratives that frame Egyptology as solely a foreign pursuit.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Helmed by Dr. Omar Al-Moataz Bellah, a renowned expert in ancient Egyptian art and performance, and Hoda Abdelaziz, a prominent media figure and Egyptology researcher, the production blends cutting-edge archaeological insight with powerful theatrical storytelling. Audiences leave not just with knowledge, but with the unforgettable sensation of having touched the spiritual heartbeat of one of the world&rsquo;s oldest civilizations.</p>
<p>Nile FM spoke with Hoda about her role in the project and the message behind it.</p>
<p><strong>How did your involvement in Journey of Immortality come about? What inspired this idea?</strong></p>
<p>Journey of Immortality is part of a larger ongoing project aimed at raising awareness around ancient Egyptian civilisation. We&rsquo;ve been working on a series of initiatives&mdash;exhibitions, lectures, and theatre &mdash; all focused on presenting different aspects of our heritage in accessible, engaging ways. We even founded a research centre called &ldquo;Osiris&rdquo; for heritage preservation and identity studies. One of our core themes is resurrection and immortality. We realised audiences didn&rsquo;t just want to watch history &mdash; they wanted to feel it.</p>
<p><strong>How did it feel to be on stage reenacting such a profound ritual?</strong></p>
<p>I felt a deep sense of pride. It wasn&rsquo;t just performance &mdash; it was legacy. Reconnecting people with their roots through this ritual made the experience incredibly personal and emotional.</p>
<p><strong>Can you describe the staging and how you made it immersive?</strong></p>
<p>We aimed for complete authenticity. The atmosphere was designed with exact replicas of ancient Egyptian items &mdash; coffins, ritual tools, even a handmade censer and a replica mummy. Some props we had to create ourselves because they no longer exist. The lighting was warm and flickering, evoking torchlight, and the soundtrack included ancient Egyptian language. We also choreographed how the audience would interact with the space. Every detail was deliberate.</p>

<p><strong>Was this your first time working in immersive theatre?</strong></p>
<p>Yes, and it was a challenge. It required a different kind of storytelling &mdash; one where the audience isn&rsquo;t just watching but participating. The payoff was incredible. After the show, many people told us they finally felt the information rather than just hearing it.</p>
<p><strong>Any moment that stayed with you?</strong></p>
<p>Definitely. At the end, we invited attendees to say aloud the names of loved ones who had passed. That moment of reflection and connection made the ritual deeply personal for each person in the room. It was powerful &mdash; many shared their experience on social media afterwards.</p>
<p><strong>How did you ensure scientific and historical accuracy?</strong></p>
<p>We worked closely with new archaeological findings and visual references. As a fine arts graduate, I&rsquo;m passionate about visual storytelling. We took academic content and translated it into sensory, immersive visuals &mdash; something you don&rsquo;t forget.</p>

<p><strong>Do you see Journey of Immortality as the start of something bigger?</strong></p>
<p>Absolutely. Each show can explore a new part of Egyptian heritage &mdash; and each experience should feel fresh, never repetitive. We want audiences to leave inspired, curious and proud of their roots. This is only the beginning.</p>

<p>Under a purple sky in late July, it wasn&rsquo;t just another concert&mdash;it felt more like a reunion. On Thursday, 31st July 2025, Massar Egbari lit up the night, a powerful, intimate performance sponsored by <strong><em>Nogoum FM.</em></strong></p>

<p>Midway through, frontman Hany El Dakkak scanned the crowd, smiling warmly:</p>

<p><em>&ldquo;Khalas&hellip; enough happy songs. If you know Massar Egbari, you know we never let you leave without at least one depressing song.&rdquo;</em></p>

<p>Classic.</p>
<p>Yet, when we asked Hany why fan favorites &ldquo;Ana Haweet&rdquo; and &ldquo;Zayyek Ana&rdquo; were missing, Hany reassured:</p>

They&rsquo;re more than fans; they&rsquo;re an integral part of the band&rsquo;s story.</p>

<p>Nile FM sat with Malek Baraka, the young frontman of Aks El Tareeq, whose journey took him from childhood fan to part of Massar Egbari&rsquo;s inner circle or as they call it<em> "Massar Egbari Family"</em>.</p>

<p><em>&ldquo;I started listening to Massar in 2011 when I was just eleven,&rdquo; Malek shared. &ldquo;I got hooked instantly. Their fusion of jazz and rock was different. They inspired me to learn seven instruments, form my own band, and eventually meet them.&rdquo;</em></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>His first contact was Toussy, through a family connection. Then came Hafez, Ayman Masoud then seyam cause i was addicted to this person&mdash;he&rsquo;s a legend and eventually Hany himself&mdash;&lsquo;the Baba,&rsquo; as Malek affectionately calls him.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The turning point was Seyam&rsquo;s invitation to the studio on Malek&rsquo;s birthday last year. <em>&ldquo;it was memorable i will never forget the first time, that i get preveleged to enter massar egbari&rsquo;s studio&hellip;it was insane &rdquo;</em></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Hany El Dakkak&rsquo;s influence, Malek notes, was profound: <em>&ldquo;His voice, his style, even the way he strokes his electric-guitar&mdash;it all communicates something. He taught me about chords, about music itself. Just seeing him perform was life-changing.&rdquo;</em></p>

<p>"Aks El Tareeq" first came together during their school days, initially competing in a "Battle of the Bands" contest. Since then, the seven-member group has steadily grown into a respected band, performing at prominent venues such as El Gezira Club. Now, they&rsquo;re gearing up for their biggest milestone yet&mdash;sharing the stage with "two major bands" Malek teased and whose identities are kept&nbsp;under the wraps until 12th December 2025. Alongside these surprise superstar guests, Malek hinted at a special appearance from a former bandmate who&rsquo;s now a popular solo artist. Promising a night full of memorable moments, Malek teased plenty of additional guest appearances, confidently describing it as &ldquo;the night of our dreams.&rdquo;</p>

Exclusive | Malek Baraka on Life Inside the Massar Egbari Family, Jamming with the Band and Building a Sound of His Own

<p>They&rsquo;re loud, they&rsquo;re talented &mdash; and they&rsquo;re all under 15. Today, Thursday, 31st July 2025, Egypt&rsquo;s youngest rock band, "Semsema", will take the stage as part of the iconic Massar Egbari concert. News of the rising band joining the lineup has sparked excitement among fans &mdash; and for good reason.</p>
<p>Formed in 2024 by a group of school friends with a shared love for music, Semsema first came together to compete in a &ldquo;Battle of the Bands.&rdquo; Not only did they take home first place, but they also discovered a deeper creative spark that kept them playing and writing. Since then, they&rsquo;ve gone on to compose original songs, win the &ldquo;Bandmakers Go Original&rdquo; competition and build a growing presence in Egypt&rsquo;s indie scene.</p>

<p>But "Semsema" isn&rsquo;t just a group of kids with instruments. With members aged between 11 and 14, they&rsquo;ve already carved out their own space in the music world, winning competitions like &ldquo;Schools Rock&rdquo; and turning heads with their infectious energy, raw talent and natural chemistry on stage.</p>
<p>Nile FM caught up with the band: Leila, Kareem, Alex and Zeyad, to talk dreams, influences and what it really means to be young and rocking.</p>

<p><strong>When did you start singing rock music?</strong></p>
<p>I started in 2022 during a Battle of the Bands competition and my brother and I actually won first place together.</p>
<p><strong>What first drew you to rock?</strong></p>
<p>Since I was a kid, my dad used to play a lot of rock songs in the car. I fell in love with the sound. I started learning piano and then singing while playing. Later, I picked up an instrument that not many girls play &mdash; the bass guitar. Now I&rsquo;m at Level 6 out of 8 in Trinity College London&rsquo;s music exams.</p>
<p><strong>How do you feel when you&rsquo;re on stage in front of a big crowd?</strong></p>
<p>I feel proud and really happy. I just want the songs we play to reach people and make them feel something.</p>
<p><strong>Who&rsquo;s the artist that inspires you most?</strong></p>
<p>Billie Eilish, for both her music and lyrics. I also relate to her because she makes music with her brother, just like I do.</p>
<p><strong>Do you enjoy writing your own songs?</strong></p>
<p>Yes, I love expressing my thoughts and emotions through lyrics.</p>
<p><strong>How did it feel when a major band like &ldquo;Massar Egbari&rdquo; praised your work?</strong></p>
<p>It made me dream even bigger. One day, I hope to perform on a huge stage like they do, go on tour, and have people around the world singing our songs.</p>

<p><strong>Kareem (Electric Guitarist)</strong></p>
<p><strong>When did you first pick up the guitar and how did you learn?</strong></p>
<p>Six years ago, I asked my dad if I could try learning guitar after seeing others play. I joined a music academy called &ldquo;Bandmakers&rdquo; and now I&rsquo;m at Level 7, just one step away from finishing Trinity&rsquo;s program.</p>
<p><strong>Do you prefer soloing or playing as part of a band?</strong></p>
<p>Definitely being part of a band. I love playing with them &mdash; we come up with fresh ideas together and the music just flows.</p>
<p>What&rsquo;s your favorite song to play?</p>
<p>&ldquo;Johnny B. Goode.&rdquo; I love the sound; it&rsquo;s fast and challenging, and I also love the movie Back to the Future, where it was featured.</p>
<p><strong>If you could play with any global band, who would it be?</strong></p>
<p>Metallica, hands down. I love their music and would love to be in their band one day.</p>
<p><strong>Would you ever mix rock with other genres?</strong></p>
<p>Not really, I prefer keeping genres separate. I love rock as it is, and I enjoy jazz too &mdash; but on its own.</p>

<p><strong>Alex (Drummer)</strong></p>
<p><strong>Why did you choose drums?</strong></p>
<p>I used to listen to a lot of rock with my dad in the car and the drums always stood out to me. I felt like I could really connect with that instrument and maybe become a great drummer someday.</p>
<p><strong>Drumming takes serious time and energy. How do you balance it with school?</strong></p>
<p>I never miss music practice. I play both drums and bass guitar, so I schedule my practice on weekends. If we have long rehearsals before performances, I bring my schoolwork and study in between.</p>
<p><strong>Do drums help you express your emotions?</strong></p>
<p>Absolutely. Drumming makes me happy and I often tap on anything around me &mdash; it&rsquo;s how I release all my energy, even my anger sometimes.</p>
<p><strong>What&rsquo;s a performance moment you&rsquo;ll never forget?</strong></p>
<p>During this year&rsquo;s Battle of the Bands, I knew I played really well. One of the judges, Amr Yehia, complimented everyone, but saved the best for last. He said, &ldquo;If there were an award just for drums, I&rsquo;d give it to you.&rdquo;</p>
<p><strong>What&rsquo;s your dream for the band?</strong></p>
<p>To stay together, grow bigger, and become famous like Metallica or Queen.</p>

<p><strong>Zeyad (Keyboardist)</strong></p>
<p><strong>How did you start playing keyboard?</strong></p>
<p>It actually started by chance. Back in fifth grade, my music teacher asked us to learn an instrument and present a full song at the end of the year. I joined a Rock and Pop academy and fell in love with the electric piano. Now, I also play electric guitar and drums &mdash; I want to understand how every instrument adds to a song.</p>
<p><strong>Do you prefer writing original music or playing covers?</strong></p>
<p>Both. Covers help me explore different tones, but I&rsquo;ve started writing short melodies &mdash; sometimes spontaneously or during jam sessions with the band.</p>
<p><strong>What&rsquo;s your favorite part about performing with the band?</strong></p>
<p>That moment when we&rsquo;re all in sync, playing like one mind. The energy we create together feels bigger than any of us alone. That&rsquo;s why I love being in a band.</p>
<p><strong>Do you enjoy experimenting with electronic sounds or prefer classical piano?</strong></p>
<p>I love experimenting with synths and electronic tones &mdash; it gives me space to invent unique sounds and blend ideas, even if I&rsquo;m not using the original instrument.</p>
<p><strong>What&rsquo;s your dream as a musician?</strong></p>
<p>I want people to recognize my sound instantly &mdash; &ldquo;that&rsquo;s Zeyad.&rdquo; I dream of doing music production, collaborating with local and international bands, and composing soundtracks for film and TV. I&rsquo;m excited to see where our music can go.</p>

She met her husband, Karim, an avid rider since childhood and now her business partner, at a local horse club when they were teenagers. Their shared love of horses soon became the foundation for both their marriage and their career.</p>
<p>As a guest on NileFM&rsquo;s &lsquo;The Big Drive&rsquo; with Zeinab and Sami, Deena shared how her journey with horses began at age four during a summer in England. While visiting family, her father lifted her onto the back of a bay horse outside a village pub. From that moment, she was hooked. Riding lessons followed in England and Saudi Arabia, and when her family moved to Egypt, the first thing they did, even before finding a school, was look for a stable.</p>

After school and on weekends, it was always about training and competing. As our relationship grew, so did our dream.&rdquo;</p>
<p>That dream became Kingsville, an academy not only to teach riding but also to raise awareness about horse welfare. &ldquo;We wanted to change the narrative in Egypt by showing that horses can be cared for and respected, while creating a community we would want our own children to grow up in,&rdquo; she said.</p>

<p>&ldquo;People often hear negative stories about horse welfare in Egypt,&rdquo; Deena explains. &ldquo;Kingsville grew out of our dream to celebrate these animals and teach them properly. It is a place where children and adults can discover the beauty of horses.&rdquo;</p>

When a horse gazes into your eyes, it is pure love.&rdquo; She adds that a horse&rsquo;s heart is five times the size of a human&rsquo;s, generating a calming energy. &ldquo;If I&rsquo;ve had a stressful day, just standing near them makes everything better.&rdquo;</p>
<p><strong>Personalities and Pairing</strong></p>
<p>&ldquo;Every horse has its own personality,&rdquo; she notes. &ldquo;Sometimes it feels like the animal chooses you. Matching the right rider with the right horse is essential. Stressed riders may need calmer horses, while relaxed riders thrive with more energetic ones.&rdquo;</p>
<p><strong>The Journey to Kingsville</strong></p>
<p>During the pandemic, Deena and Karim opened Horseville, a small academy at their old club. &ldquo;It was beautiful, and the community loved it.&rdquo; In 2024, King&rsquo;s Polo Club approached them to expand, incorporating show jumping and dressage. &ldquo;We merged Horseville with King&rsquo;s Polo. Seeing even non-horsey people fall in love with the sport has been amazing.&rdquo;</p>
<p>Transitioning from teaching to business brought challenges. &ldquo;I spent 14 years as a teacher and suddenly had to learn marketing, PR, HR, and finance. I&rsquo;m terrible at finance, and so is Karim. But watching riders discover their paths, whether in polo, show jumping, or bonding with the horses, makes it all worthwhile.&rdquo;</p>

While not open to the public, members of the equestrian and Uptown Cairo communities will have access.</p>
<p>Deena sums up the academy&rsquo;s mission: &ldquo;We aim to promote empathy for animals, build strong rider&ndash;horse connections, and raise a new generation who value sportsmanship as much as skill.&rdquo; Located in Uptown Cairo, Kingsville&rsquo;s community includes over 30 nationalities. &ldquo;That sense of connection is just as important to us as the sport itself,&rdquo; she said.</p>

<p><br />Entrepreneur and influencer Nayra Nassar joined Brain Busters with Basmah on Nile FM this Thursday from 10 am to 11 am, offering a refreshingly honest take on mindset, burnout and what it really takes to build something that lasts &mdash; without the fluff.</p>
<p><br />Right off the bat, Nayra dismantled the notion that a support system is essential for starting. &ldquo;You don&rsquo;t have to have a support system to start or get validation,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;You can do it on your own.&rdquo;</p>
<p><br />And she meant it. Whether from friends, family, or even your first client &mdash; &ldquo;you don&rsquo;t need validation or support from anyone.&rdquo;</p>
<p><br />As the conversation moved into project planning and when to pivot, Nayra drew a clear line between normal struggles and dead-end signs. &ldquo;When you feel like the idea stopped evolving, when it feels stagnant &mdash; that&rsquo;s when you know you have to quit,&rdquo; she explained. &ldquo;Struggles are more like ups and downs&hellip; they&rsquo;re moving. Unless you&rsquo;re moving up and down, that&rsquo;s okay.&rdquo;</p>
<p><br />One of the most common mental traps in the early stages of any project? Delegation &mdash; or the fear of it. Nayra called it what it is: micro-management in disguise. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s like you want to be everyone, everywhere, all at once,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;But if you let go early, it saves you big time. Because eventually&hellip; you&rsquo;re going to burn out.&rdquo;</p>
<p><br />On the topic of bad advice, she didn&rsquo;t hold back. &ldquo;Follow your passion? That&rsquo;s romantic. But I don&rsquo;t hate passion &mdash; it&rsquo;s just not enough to get you going.&rdquo; Instead, she championed what she called &ldquo;boring consistency.&rdquo; Building anything, she added, &ldquo;is like building muscle &mdash; you have to go to the gym.&rdquo;</p>
<p><br />Later in the show, the discussion turned to change &mdash; both external and internal. &ldquo;When you first start, there&rsquo;s ego. Gaps in ego. Discipline. Are you going to be patient?&rdquo; she asked. &ldquo;People underestimate how big of a shift it is when you change after building something from scratch. People might not like the new version of you. It takes internal work. Self-awareness. Tolerance. Consistency.&rdquo;</p>
<p><br />Sometimes, the version of you that&rsquo;s capable of success looks nothing like the version of you who started. &ldquo;You might turn into someone you hated. Someone super disciplined. Someone unlike you at all.&rdquo;</p>
<p><br />Even early-stage ideas got a reality check, they say your first 14 ideas are trash, Nayra commented, &ldquo;but that doesn&rsquo;t mean your effort is wasted. It just evolves into something bigger, something stronger.&rdquo;</p>
<p><br />When Basmah asked what she&rsquo;d tell her younger self, Nayra didn&rsquo;t hesitate: &ldquo;Don&rsquo;t confuse burnout with progress. Don&rsquo;t confuse burnout and progress with self-worth.&rdquo;</p>
<p><br />She added, &ldquo;I used to sleep three hours a night. I thought if I was always working, always rushing, I was progressing &mdash; but I was just burning out. That adrenaline rush? That&rsquo;s not success. That&rsquo;s a warning sign.&rdquo;</p>

<p><br />But enough with the figures, let&rsquo;s talk about the fun part: the actual film.</p>
<p><br /><strong>What to Expect (No Spoilers)</strong></p>
<p><br />El Darwish&nbsp;is a funny, witty and surprisingly heartfelt historical comedy that takes us back to Egypt in the 1940s under English colonisation. While it&rsquo;s not based on a true story, the way the plotlines and character arcs intersect makes it feel strikingly authentic.</p>
<p><br />From the moment the film starts, you can see how much work went into building this world. The props, the costumes, the sets&mdash;all meticulously crafted to recreate 1940s Egypt. Honestly, it was a visual treat.<br />The cast delivered across the board.&nbsp;Amr Youssef&nbsp;shoulders the film as its lead&mdash;and he owns it. After his run with the&nbsp;Awlad Rizk&nbsp;saga, we already knew he could command the screen, but here, his humor shines in a way no one else could pull off.</p>
<p><br />Dina El Sherbini&nbsp;absolutely&nbsp;nails her role as Zebda. She&rsquo;s hilarious, quick-witted and so naturally funny that every scene she&rsquo;s in pops.&nbsp;Tara Emad&nbsp;delivered a strong performance too. She was classy, bossy and an activist, embodying how women have a huge role in freeing Egypt from colonialism.</p>
<p><br />And then there&rsquo;s&nbsp;Ahmed Abdelwahab&mdash;in his&nbsp;big-screen debut, no less. Playing a high-class con artist with a French accent, he was witty and charismatic. Definitely one to watch.</p>
<p><br />Mostafa Gharib&nbsp;did what he does best&mdash;stealing scenes with his lovable dumbness and comedic energy. And the cameo by&nbsp;Mohamed Shahin&nbsp;was another surprise, with his blend of arrogance and bad humor that somehow still worked.<br />Finally, the legendary&nbsp;Yousra&nbsp;narrates the film and appears as a special guest. Her presence added gravitas to the whole experience.</p>
<p><br />El Darwish&nbsp;is more than just a hit; it&rsquo;s a cinematic experience that combines humor, history and a refreshing challenge to old stereotypes. Whether it&rsquo;s the stellar performances, the flawless 1940s production design, or the strong feminist undertones, this film gives you plenty to love.</p>
<p><br />If you need two hours to escape, laugh and be reminded of how good Egyptian cinema can be, grab a ticket. Trust me&mdash;you won&rsquo;t regret it.</p>
