Mariah Carey released a statement stating that her mother Patricia and sister Alison passed away on the same day.
Carey said in the statement, "My heart is broken that I&rsquo;ve lost my mother this past weekend", she continued, "Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day&rdquo;
The Grammy-winning singer also stated that she felt very fortunate to have seen her mother the week before she passed away.
Carey didn't elaborate on the reason for the death of her mother or her sister.&nbsp;
It's worth mentioning that Carey's mother, Patricia, was a former opera singer and vocal coach of Irish-American descent.
