Grammy-winning artist Doja Cat is preparing to drop her fifth studio album, &lsquo;Vie,&rsquo; in fall 2025. Marking a new chapter in her sound, the rapper and singer revealed this record leans more into pop&mdash;centered around themes of love, personal growth and reflection.
&ldquo;This is a pop-driven project,&rdquo; Doja said in a recent interview. &ldquo;Pop is popular, but it can still be meaningful and emotional.&rdquo; Moving away from the hip-hop and experimental style that defined earlier releases, &lsquo;Vie&rsquo; aims to be more melodic and accessible&mdash;crafted with heart and intention.
Love, Hope &amp; Self-Discovery
Unlike previous albums that channeled heartbreak and conflict, &lsquo;Vie&rsquo; takes a hopeful approach. &ldquo;The concept is very much about love, romance and the dynamics of relationships,&rdquo; Doja shared. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s also about the relationship you have with yourself.&rdquo; While some songs explore frustration, the overall tone is optimistic. &ldquo;This album reflects how I hope love can be&mdash;more honest and peaceful.&rdquo;
Letting Go of Pressure
Doja also spoke candidly about focusing more on the art than the hype. &ldquo;What I want to avoid is that little voice that only chases success,&rdquo; she said. Instead, she&rsquo;s putting energy into the details&mdash;whether it's reworking a verse or stripping back a mix. &ldquo;I want to make sure it feels right, not just sounds big.&rdquo;
From &lsquo;Scarlet&rsquo; to &lsquo;Vie&rsquo;
Her last album, Scarlet, dropped in September 2023 and earned massive success, with the deluxe version &lsquo;Scarlet 2 Claude&rsquo; following in April 2024. Together, the albums produced hits like &ldquo;Paint the Town Red&rdquo; and &ldquo;Agora Hills,&rdquo; pushing her total Spotify streams beyond 27 billion. She also now boasts 25 Gold and 19 Platinum-certified singles, making her the second best-selling female rapper in U.S. history&mdash;behind only Cardi B.
What&rsquo;s Next
With &lsquo;Vie,&rsquo; Doja Cat is stepping into a space of vulnerability and artistic freedom. The album isn&rsquo;t about chart-topping hits&mdash;it&rsquo;s about connection. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m excited to share this new side of me,&rdquo; she said.
A release date hasn&rsquo;t been confirmed yet, but &lsquo;Vie&rsquo; is expected to drop in fall 2025.
