Just days remain until John Legend welcomes a new chapter in his musical journey with the release of ‘Muse,’ his upcoming 11th studio album.
Set to arrive on 23 October 2026, the 16-track project marks a major collaboration between Legend and longtime friend Pharrell Williams, who produced the entire album and co-wrote the songs. Recorded at Pharrell’s studio in Paris, Muse brings together two artists whose friendship stretches back more than two decades.
When Will John Legend’s ‘Muse’ Be Released?
John Legend’s 11th studio album, Muse, is scheduled for release on 23 October 2026.
The album features 16 tracks, with Pharrell Williams serving as its producer and co-writer throughout the project. Pharrell also appears as a featured artist on six songs.
What Inspired The Name ‘Muse’?
According to Billboard, the album’s title is partly inspired by the nine Muses of ancient Greek mythology, the goddesses traditionally associated with inspiration in the arts and sciences.
The title also reflects the creative drive behind the project, as Legend has described the album as an opportunity to challenge himself rather than remain within the comfort zone of his established hits.
“There are plenty of artists who get to a point in their career where they don’t make anything new. We can just play the hits; we can stay in our comfort zone. But I believe it’s important to keep the mindset that I have to continue to prove myself,” Legend told Billboard.
“I wanted this album to have that sense of urgency, to feel like something that needed to be made and is fully worthy of my audience’s attention,” he added.
John Legend And Pharrell Williams’ Longtime Friendship
While Muse marks their first full-length studio project together, Legend and Pharrell have known each other for more than 20 years.
Legend has previously reflected on their longtime friendship, writing on his official page: “Pharrell and I have been friends for over 20 years. We finally made an album together.”
Their long-standing relationship now takes a new form on Muse, with Pharrell playing a central role in shaping the album’s sound from production and songwriting to featured appearances.
What Is The Lead Single From ‘Muse’?
The album’s lead single, “Daylight,” is already available.
The track offers the first taste of the upcoming project ahead of its full release on October 23.
