<p>Hany Shenouda, the legendary Egyptian composer, has announced that the pop band, Al-Massrieen, which he founded in the &rsquo;70s, will be performing on the 14th of November, at Jazz Caf&eacute; in London.</p>
<p>Formed back in 1977, Al-Massrieen, started as a cover band for international music, and according to Hany Shenoda, they adapted the idea to start making Arabic music in the same style as international compositions, after they met up with the Noble Prize Winning author Naguib Mahfouz, who suggested the idea when he attended one of their concerts as a journalist.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The original formation of the band consisted of Hany Shenouda, Mona Aziz, Iman Younis, Tahseen Zalmaz, Mamdouh Qasem, and Omar Fathi. Al-Massrieen explored a wide array of genres and styles, such as disco, progressive rock, psych rock, jazz, and even Egyptian folklore music, influencing bands such as 4 Ms and Al-Asdekaa.</p>
<p>The announcement of the new performance in London came as a surprise for fans of the band, as the band didn&rsquo;t perform outside Egypt in decades.</p>
