Guess who&rsquo;s coming back to the circle of trust?
The beloved Meet the Parents franchise is officially eyeing a fourth installment &mdash; and yes, most of your favourite characters are already on board. Meet the Parents 4 (unofficially titled for now) is set to be developed by John Hamburg, who co-wrote the original trilogy and will now write and direct the new film.
And if that&rsquo;s not exciting enough, the original cast is reportedly returning: Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner, Teri Polo and Owen Wilson. The big surprise? Ariana Grande is joining the cast following her Oscar-nominated turn as Glinda in Wicked &mdash; no word yet on her role, but insiders are hinting it&rsquo;ll be a comedic shake-up to the tightly wound family dynamic.
But before you get too excited, one fan-favourite is still on the fence: Barbra Streisand. The icon, who played Roz Focker in the second and third films, recently told Variety that she&rsquo;s open to reprising the role &mdash; but only on one condition.
&ldquo;I was in the time when women were getting paid less than the men,&rdquo; Streisand said, pointing to the pay gap in the earlier films. She added that Universal&rsquo;s then-chairman, Ron Meyer, later sent her a bonus cheque to acknowledge the imbalance. &ldquo;It was very sweet,&rdquo; she said &mdash; but made it clear she won&rsquo;t return without fair pay this time around.
Meanwhile, Streisand is having a musical moment too. She just dropped her new album The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two, featuring powerhouse collaborations with Ariana Grande and Mariah Carey on the soaring track &ldquo;One Voice, One Heart.&rdquo;
