Egypt is set to experience a noticeable drop in temperatures across its northern regions, including Greater Cairo and northern Upper Egypt, on Sunday, 7 June 2026, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA). Temperatures are expected to decrease by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius compared to previous days. Despite the dip, daytime conditions will remain hot across the north, while southern Upper Egypt continues to experience intense heat. Nighttime temperatures will be moderate in most areas, though relatively warm in the far south.
The EMA also noted that high humidity levels will increase the perceived temperature by approximately 1 to 2 degrees Celsius above the actual readings recorded in the shade.
There is a slight (20%) chance of light, intermittent rainfall affecting parts of the North Coast governorates and northern Lower Egypt. This light rain or drizzle may also extend to isolated areas of Greater Cairo, southern Lower Egypt, and the Suez Canal cities, though it is expected to be non-impactful.
Meanwhile, wind activity could stir up dust and sand in parts of Upper Egypt, South Sinai, Salloum, and Siwa. Wind speeds may reach between 40 and 50 km/h in central and southern Upper Egypt, as well as the Red Sea Governorate, potentially reducing horizontal visibility. Other regions may experience moderate intermittent winds ranging from 30 to 40 km/h.
