3) All the President&rsquo;s Men (1976)
Despite not being specifically about an election, Alan J. Pakula's classic political thriller is based on the actual Watergate investigation by Washington Post writers Carl Bernstein (Dustin Hoffman) and Bob Woodward (Robert Redford). The movie painstakingly tracks the reporters as they unearth a corrupt trail that finally forces President Richard Nixon to resign. 5) Game Change&nbsp;(2012)
The 2008 U.S. presidential election serves as the backdrop for the political thriller "Game Change", which centers on Republican contender John McCain's choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running VP.
The movie centers on political strategist Steve Schmidt, who at first thinks Palin would be a great way to get the campaign going.
