The Residence had landed a month ago with a buzz that felt almost too calculated: White house intrigue, a star-studded ensemble and a murder mystery&hellip;the hype practically wrote itself. But now that the series is out and we definitely &nbsp;binged watched it&mdash;was it worth it?

Let&rsquo;s start with the premise AKA&mdash;what&rsquo;s the series about&mdash;a murder at the White house turns the mansion into a crime scene and we see it unfold from the perspective of each permanent resident&mdash;not the political elite but the staff. If we&rsquo;re going to describe it we&rsquo;re going to say: Think Knives Out meeting The West Wing, But with a touch of soap opera and a sprinkle of scandal-lens.

Did we think The Residence was a success? Let&rsquo;s break down that to you&hellip;

In terms of performances they were magnetic. Uzo Aduba Leads with charm, Wit and emotional tension bending the plot to something real and grounding even if it&rsquo;s absurd. The whole cast was a success they were strong, diverse and carefully curated, which kept the pacing tight and the drama digestible. To be fairly honest, at first we were skeptical, a murder mystery series&hellip; well that&rsquo;s going to be a hell boring, but despite the doubt the first couple of episodes were really attention grabbers then right before the climax we started to get bored in the 6th episode, but again they grabbed our attention when they made you think you know who the murder/s are/is.. no spoilers we promise!

Back to the review, if you found this article messy.. then we&rsquo;re definitely influenced by the series, it was chaotic, messy, it&rsquo;s like you spilled a cup of coffee on your laptop then you tried to grab your laptop so you spilled everything on yourself kind of scene, sometimes it was too much but if you paid attention to the details you&rsquo;ll find some leads which could lead you to solving the murder mystery.

The issue with The Residence that it wasn&rsquo;t quite sure what it want to be, is it a comedic-psychotic series, is it a deep-dark murder mystery, is it a soap opera, is it a smart-politics-based I the high stakes of Washington that swings toward emotional chaos and interpersonal flashbacks that might feel like a bait-and-switch.
But still there is something irresistible about the series, it&rsquo;s undeniably binge-able the kind where you roll your eyes&mdash;and press &ldquo;next episode&rdquo; anyway!
So final verdict is it binge-approved? YES!
Is it worth the hype? Maybe not!
