Godard&rsquo;s influence on international cinema over the past 60 years has been fundamental, and his movies are like paintings that should always radiate color and energy. They are the legacy he left behind for generations to come; with that being said, here are the top 5 Godard movies:

1. &ldquo;Breathless (&Agrave; Bout De Souffl&eacute;)&rdquo;
It follows a thief who steals a car and murders a policeman, and now he is on the run. Later on, he reunites with an American student and tries to persuade her to run away with him to Italy. This crazy journey of two people who are completely lost and fragile is something to be admired.
&ldquo;Breathless&rdquo; has one of the most experimental editing techniques, and an unforgettable soundtrack.

2. &ldquo;Pierrot le Fou&rdquo;
Pierrot feels bored and empty as he is having troubles escaping his boring life. As a result, he decides to travel with Marianne, a woman who is being hunted down by hit-men from Algeria.
In this movie, Jean-Luc Godard&nbsp; deliberately subverts audience's expectations and complacency with lots of cinematic tricks, like characters breaking the 4th wall and an off-screen chorus commenting throughout the movie.
Godard said about "Pierrot Le Fou" that "it is not really a film, it's an attempt at the cinema. Life is the subject, with [cinema]scope and color as its attributes...In short, life filling the screen as a tap fills a bathtub that is simultaneously emptying at the same rate."

3. &ldquo;Alphaville&rdquo;
It is a noir movie that follows a government agent, Lemmy Caution, (played by Eddie Constantine) who is on a mission to find a missing person and save Alphaville, a dystopian metropolis in a distant corner of the galaxy, from their tyrant ruler.

4. &ldquo;Vivre Sa Vie (My Life To Live)&rdquo;
In Jean-Luc Godard's epic drama, Nana (played by Anna Karina) is a young Parisian woman who aspires to be an actress, hoping to break into films, but things go downhill. Later on, she met a man (played by Peter Kassovitz) who truly cares for her, but life is not that easy.
Godard&rsquo;s unique narrative draws the viewer in and keeps the audience emotionally engaged with Nana&rsquo;s story. &ldquo;Vivre Sa Vie&rdquo; is full of moments that show Godard&rsquo;s unique approach to direction.
Anna Karina is the nucleus of the movie; the movie is hers and hers only, and she completely steals the show.

5. &ldquo;Cleo from 5 to 7&rdquo; by Agnes Varda
Although it is not a Godard film, it was one of the rare instances that Godard makes an appearance on the big screen.
The neo-realistic movie follows a pop singer, Cl&eacute;o (Corinne Marchand), who has two hours to wait until the results of her biopsy are out. She embarks on a trip for those two hours which morphs into a self-discovering journey.&nbsp;
In the third act, Cl&eacute;o comes to terms with her shortcomings and accepts the idea of &ldquo;fate&rdquo;. The movie delves into heavy themes, such as objectifying women, body image, and self-improvement.
