Jason Voorhees, everyone&rsquo;s favorite slasher with a hockey mask, is back.
Just in time for Halloween, a new &ldquo;Friday the 13th&rdquo; prequel tv show has been announced. Titled &ldquo;Crystal Lake&rdquo;, the series will be written by Bryan Fuller, who will also serve as showrunner and executive producer, Victor Miller, who wrote the 1980&rsquo;s original film, will also executive produce along with Marc Toberoff, Rob Barsamian, and the beloved studio behind some of the most celebrated movies in the past decade A24.

"&rsquo;Friday the 13th&rsquo; is one of the most iconic horror franchises in movie history and we were dying to revisit this story with our upcoming drama series &lsquo;Crystal Lake,&rsquo;&rdquo; said Susan Rovner, chairman of entertainment content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. &ldquo;We can&rsquo;t wait to get to work with Bryan Fuller, a gifted, visionary creator who I&rsquo;ve had the pleasure of being a longtime friend and collaborator, along with our incredible partners at A24, in this updated version for Peacock that will thrill long-standing fans of the franchise.&rdquo;
Bryan Fuller is certainly one of the most exciting names attached to &ldquo;Crystal Lake&rdquo;, as he has a lot of experience in TV shows, his previous work includes co-creating shows like &ldquo;Hannibal&rdquo;, &ldquo;Pushing Daisies&rdquo;, &ldquo;Dead Like Me, &ldquo;American Gods&rdquo;, and &ldquo;Star Trek: Discovery&rdquo;.

"Friday the 13th" is a quintessential horror franchise, with the original being released in 1980, which was about a child who drowns at Camp Crystal Lake, which drives his mother Pamela to seek revenge. It was a huge success grossing nearly $60 million, while its budget was only $550,000. The franchise went on after that with eleven further films, TV series, novels, as well as video games.
&ldquo;Friday the 13th Part III&rdquo; was the first movie of the franchise to introduce adult Jason with his trademark hockey goalie mask, and instantly the character became one of the most iconic characters in the horror genre.
