The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has praised Egypt’s National Program for Developing Arabic Language Skills, highlighting significant improvements in students’ reading and writing abilities following the completion of the program’s first three phases.
According to a statement shared on the official page of the Egyptian Cabinet, more than 1.38 million students across Egypt’s 27 governorates were assessed as part of the program.
UNICEF noted that the most significant improvements were recorded among children who initially demonstrated lower levels of reading and writing skills. The results, according to the organization, reflect the program’s impact in helping children catch up on missed learning and strengthen their foundational skills.

Building on the results of the first three phases, the fourth phase of the National Program for Developing Arabic Language Skills is now set to begin.
The fourth phase will run alongside the launch of the National Program for Developing Mathematics Skills, expanding efforts to support children’s foundational learning skills across Egypt.
UNICEF emphasized that reading, writing, and numeracy are essential foundations for children’s learning and development, reaffirming its commitment to supporting children in Egypt in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and other program partners.
