Ingredients:

<li>1 package (2 crusts) of store-bought pie crusts</li>
<li>6 cups of thinly sliced and peeled apples (about 6 medium-sized apples, such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)</li>
<li>3/4 cup granulated sugar</li>
<li>2 tablespoons all-purpose flour</li>
<li>1 teaspoon ground cinnamon</li>
<li>1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg</li>
<li>1 tablespoon lemon juice</li>
<li>2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces</li>
<li>1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)</li>
<li>1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for sprinkling)</li>

Instructions:

<li>Preheat your oven to 425&deg;F (220&deg;C).</li>
<li>Roll out one pie crust and place it into a 9-inch pie dish. Press it firmly against the bottom and sides of the dish, and trim any excess dough from the edges.</li>
<li>In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Mix until the apples are evenly coated.</li>
<li>Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie crust, spreading it out evenly. Dot the top of the apples with the pieces of butter.</li>
<li>Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the apples. Trim any excess dough and crimp the edges to seal the pie.</li>
<li>Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.</li>
<li>Brush the top crust with the beaten egg and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar.</li>
<li>6Place the pie on a baking sheet (to catch any drips) and bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.</li>
<li>Once done, remove the pie from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 1 hour before serving.</li>
<li>Serve your delicious apple pie warm or at room temperature, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top.</li>
