Egypt&rsquo;s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El Khatib, met with Bassel Rahmy, CEO of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA), to discuss strengthening support for entrepreneurship and expanding cooperation to accelerate the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.
The meeting, held in Cairo, was attended by senior officials, including Hala Aboul Saad, Chairperson of the Egyptian Federation for Financing MSMEs, and Mohamed El Gousqi, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI).
According to a statement from the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, discussions focused on maximizing the impact of financial and non-financial services provided to entrepreneurs, while enhancing institutional coordination to support the sector&rsquo;s expansion.
El Khatib said the ministry, through GAFI, is working to strengthen communication with investment projects across productive sectors. He stressed the importance of linking businesses to funding programmes and advisory services to expand their operations and ensure long-term sustainability.
He described entrepreneurship as a key driver of economic growth, job creation, and investment attraction, noting that MSMEs play a central role in boosting productivity and strengthening Egypt&rsquo;s competitiveness.

Rahmy reaffirmed the agency&rsquo;s commitment to expanding cooperation with the ministry to foster a supportive business environment and create new opportunities for young entrepreneurs to transform innovative ideas into scalable ventures.
He added that upcoming efforts will focus on supporting industrial MSMEs and enabling young people to benefit from promising investment opportunities in the industrial sector, in line with the state&rsquo;s strategy to deepen local manufacturing and increase production.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for the Egyptian Saudi International Franchise Exhibition FRANEX 2026, scheduled to take place in Cairo in April at the Egypt International Exhibition Center.
