The US dollar has weakened against the Egyptian pound, according to the latest exchange rate data released by the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) on Wednesday.
The currency was quoted at EGP 52.40 for buying and EGP 52.50 for selling, down from the previous session, indicating a modest strengthening of the local currency.
The decline follows a period of relative stability in the foreign exchange market and suggests slightly reduced demand for the US dollar in recent trading.
Other major currencies remained elevated. The Euro traded at EGP 61.72 (buy) and EGP 61.95 (sell), while the British pound stood at EGP 71.03 (buy) and EGP 71.28 (sell). The Chinese yuan was recorded at EGP 7.68 (buy) and EGP 7.70 (sell), and the UAE dirham at EGP 14.25 (buy) and EGP 14.29 (sell).
Market activity appeared subdued, with analysts pointing to cautious sentiment and limited trading volumes. Attention remains focused on shifts in foreign currency demand, as well as broader economic developments that could influence exchange rate movements.
While the dollar&rsquo;s decline offers some support to the Egyptian pound, it remains unclear whether this signals the start of a sustained trend or a temporary adjustment.
For now, the pound&rsquo;s gains are seen as tentative, with uncertainty continuing to shape the near-term outlook.
