The US dollar continued to decline against the Egyptian pound on Sunday, 19 April 2026, following several days of steady gains, according to the National Bank of Egypt. The dollar fell to EGP 51.65, down from EGP 51.87 in the previous session, marking a decrease of EGP 0.22 and reflecting a modest strengthening of the local currency.
Meanwhile, the British pound continued to trade at higher levels, recording EGP 69.75 for buying and EGP 70.37 for selling. The euro also declined, reaching EGP 60.74 for buying and EGP 61.31 for selling. The Chinese yuan showed minimal fluctuation, standing at EGP 7.56 for buying and EGP 7.59 for selling, indicating relatively stable trading compared with major Western currencies.
Regional currencies followed a similar pattern of stability. The UAE dirham was recorded at EGP 14.04 for buying and EGP 14.08 for selling, supported by consistent demand for Gulf currencies in the Egyptian market.
