The US dollar recorded a slight strengthening against the Egyptian pound on Thursday, 23 April 2026, extending a recent trend of relative stability, according to the National Bank of Egypt (NBE).
The dollar reached EGP 52.53, up from EGP 51.78 in the previous session, marking an increase of EGP 0.75.
The British pound strengthened slightly, trading at EGP 70.81 for buying and EGP 71.10 for selling.
Meanwhile, the euro edged higher to EGP 61.42 for buying and EGP 61.64 for selling.
The Chinese yuan also rose to EGP 7.68 for buying and EGP 7.71 for selling.
Regional currencies showed minor changes. The UAE dirham rose to EGP 14.28 for buying and EGP 14.32 for selling, reflecting demand linked to travel, remittances, and economic ties with Gulf countries.
The Egyptian pound witnessed slight fluctuations during the session as authorities continue efforts to balance import demand with inflows from tourism, investment, and remittances.
