Egypt is set to experience hot and humid weather during the day in the north of the country, extending to Greater Cairo, while temperatures will be very hot in the south. Nights are expected to be mild and humid across most areas on Thursday, 24 September 2026, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).
Light to moderate rain is expected in the evening, with a possibility of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall at times. Rainfall is expected in scattered areas of the northwestern coastal governorates and northern Lower Egypt, with a probability of approximately 30%.
Scattered areas of southern Lower Egypt and the Suez Canal cities may also experience rain, while there is a slight chance of rainfall, at approximately 10%, in parts of Greater Cairo. The rain and associated weather conditions may help cool the air, particularly in shaded areas and during the night.
Wind activity is expected, with speeds ranging between 30 and 40 km/h. Strong winds associated with thunderstorms may also stir up sand and dust in some areas, particularly along the northwestern coast.
The EMA noted that thunderstorms, with a probability of approximately 30%, could be accompanied by lightning strikes in some areas and strong wind activity resulting from downdrafts beneath thunderstorms, which may stir up sand and dust.
Maritime navigation may be disrupted in some areas of the Gulfs of Suez and Aqaba due to strong winds ranging between 45 and 65 km/h. Wave heights are expected to range from 2.5 to 3.5 meters.
