On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of one of the most important archaeological discoveries in the history of mankind, the tomb of the golden king Tutankhamun, Luxor Governorate is organizing a series of different and varied events to commemorate the special discovery.
The Ministry of Tourism confirmed that the celebration will include the opening of archaeological and artistic exhibitions, educational tours, interactive activities, and workshops that aim to highlight the art of taxidermy and writing in ancient Egypt.&nbsp;
Luxor has recently celebrated the &ldquo;Howard Carter&rsquo;s House&rdquo; restoration project. Howard Carter was a British archaeologist and Egyptologist, and he discovered the tomb on the 4th of November in 1922 in the Valley of the Kings.
&ldquo;Howard Carter&rsquo;s House&rdquo; restoration project was funded by USAID in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and began last February. The official ceremony of the reopening of the house to the public after its restoration and development was hosted by The American Research Center on November 4th.&nbsp;
The Egyptian Museum is also celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 18th dynasty pharaoh by launching an exhibition titled "Centennial of the discovery of King Tutankhamun's cemetery... Tutankhamun and his family", which will display 18 artifacts from the belonging of the golden pharaoh Tutankhamun, which have not been found inside his tomb, and some of the artifacts will be displayed for the first time ever.&nbsp;
One of the most prominent artifacts that will be displayed in the exhibition is the &ldquo;Little Lady Mummy&rdquo;, who is believed to be &ldquo;Queen Kia&rdquo;, the mother of king Tutankhamun, 4 statues of the Pharaoh discovered among 11 statues in the Karnak Temple&rsquo;s cachette, a set of rings bearing the King's name, and a set of scarabs bearing the name of Ankhesenamun, king Tutankhamun&rsquo;s wife.
