Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly has officially declared the Eid al-Fitr holiday for 2025. According to the decision, the public holiday will begin on Saturday, 29th March, and continue until Tuesday, 1st April, 2025. This paid holiday applies to employees in ministries, government offices, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies, and state-owned enterprises.

However, the decision also accounts for the potential variation in the Islamic calendar. If the official moon sighting confirms that Monday, March 31, is the first day of Shawwal (and thus Eid al-Fitr), the holiday will be extended until Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

This announcement ensures that Egyptians will have ample time to celebrate Eid, a joyous occasion marked by prayers, family gatherings, and festive traditions. Further confirmation of the exact Eid date will be determined by Dar al-Ifta, Egypt&rsquo;s official religious authority, based on the moon sighting.
