Simone Ashley&rsquo;s time on the Formula 1 track is over before it even started &mdash; at least on screen.
"The Bridgerton" and "Picture This" star was originally cast in director Joseph Kosinski&rsquo;s upcoming "F1" movie, led by Brad Pitt. She even filmed scenes at real Grand Prix events. But in the final cut? Her role has been almost entirely removed.
So What Really Happened?
According to Kosinski, multiple subplots were trimmed during post-production &mdash; including Ashley&rsquo;s. While she was meant to have a full arc (and reportedly shot several scenes with co-star Damson Idris), the story shifted in the editing room.
&ldquo;You always shoot more than you can use,&rdquo; the director told People. &ldquo;She&rsquo;s incredibly talented. I&rsquo;d love to work with her again.&rdquo;In the released version of F1, Ashley appears briefly and without dialogue. It&rsquo;s not a creative diss &mdash; it&rsquo;s a classic big-budget streamlining move.&nbsp;
But the good news is, she Took It Like a Pro!
Ashley hasn&rsquo;t commented on the final cut, but in earlier interviews she described the shoot as &ldquo;crazy&rdquo; and &ldquo;like theatre,&rdquo; recalling the high-pressure vibe of filming on location during real F1 races.
Despite being left on the cutting room floor, she made it clear the experience was still worth it.

F1 was shot over two years at major international Grand Prix circuits &mdash; including Silverstone, Las Vegas, and Abu Dhabi. The film stars Brad Pitt as a retired driver making a comeback, with Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, and Tobias Menzies rounding out the cast. It hits theaters on 27th June, 2025.
Ashley may not be in the final credits, but the industry is still watching. This kind of visibility &mdash; even in edit-room losses &mdash; puts her exactly where she needs to be: one major move away from her next breakout.
