<p>Mahmoud El Khatib, president of Al Ahly Sporting Club, has confirmed he will not seek re-election in the club&rsquo;s upcoming board elections, set for September 19, 2025.</p>
<p>In a farewell statement, El Khatib reflected on his eight-year tenure, highlighting the collective achievements that kept Al Ahly at the forefront of Egyptian and international sports:<br />&ldquo;For two terms, I had the honor of leading the board alongside my colleagues. Together, we worked to strengthen Al Ahly across sporting, economic, and administrative levels. Every success and championship were the product of teamwork and an enduring commitment to the club&rsquo;s values.&rdquo;</p>
<p><strong>Citing ongoing health concerns, he explained:</strong><br />&ldquo;Despite several attempts to step back on medical advice, circumstances always required me to continue. Today, it is necessary to fully follow my doctors&rsquo; recommendations and step away from daily pressures.&rdquo;</p>
<p><strong>El Khatib confirmed his decision not to run:</strong><br />&ldquo;With elections less than two months away, I announce that I will not be a candidate for another term. I will now begin my treatment while remaining available to offer guidance until the new board is elected.&rdquo;</p>
<p><strong>He urged members to take part in shaping the club&rsquo;s future:</strong><br />&ldquo;I call on all Al Ahly members to attend the general assembly on September 19 and actively participate in deciding the club&rsquo;s next chapter. Al Ahly will always remain a source of pride, leadership, and a reflection of our nation&rsquo;s values.&rdquo;</p>
