The Cairo International Film Festival concluded its 46th edition with the announcement of the International Competition awards during a ceremony attended by filmmakers, industry figures and guests. The jury was chaired by Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan and included Egyptian actress Basma, Romanian writer-director Bogdan Mureșanu, Chinese director Joan He, Egyptian director Nadine Khan, Italian editor Simona Paggi, and Tunisian director Leyla Bouzid.
The competition&rsquo;s awards were announced as follows:
Henry Barakat Award for Best Artistic Contribution Awarded to cinematographer Mathieu Giaux Mbini for his work on Sand City. Best Actress Award Jointly awarded to Andrea Riseborough and Brinda Andrew Williams for their performances in Dragonfly. Best Actor Award Presented to Majd Eid for his role in Once Upon a Time in Gaza. Naguib Mahfouz Award for Best Screenplay Awarded to The Things You Kill, directed by Ali Reza Khatami. Bronze Pyramid Award (Special Jury Prize, 3,000 USD) Awarded to As We Breathe, directed by Seamus Alton. Silver Pyramid Award for Best Director (5,000 USD) Presented to Tarzan and Arab Nasser for Once Upon a Time in Gaza. Golden Pyramid Award for Best Film (7,000 USD) Awarded to Dragonfly, directed by Paul Andrew Williams, with the prize presented to the film&rsquo;s producer.
