Egyptian table tennis player Hana Goda has climbed to 20th place in the latest women&rsquo;s world rankings released by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), marking a historic milestone for the sport in Africa and the Arab world.
At just 18 years old, Goda is now the highest-ranked Egyptian, Arab and African woman in the history of the rankings. Her rise follows a breakthrough performance at the ITTF World Cup, where she reached the quarter-finals, the first player from her region to achieve that feat.
Reacting to the achievement, Goda shared a message on social media expressing gratitude, saying she was proud to be among the world&rsquo;s top 20 players for the first time.
The milestone continues a steady upward trajectory. Goda had been ranked 22nd in 2025 before breaking into the top 20.
Her emergence on the international stage began early. In 2019, aged 12, she topped the ITTF under-15 world rankings, becoming the first African and Arab player to reach number one in that category. She also became Egypt&rsquo;s youngest national champion, underlining her early dominance in the sport.
Goda is widely regarded as one of the brightest young talents in global table tennis, with her latest ranking further highlighting her rapid progress on the international stage.
