According to the presidential spokesperson, President El-Sisi stressed during his remarks that the forum’s preparations prioritised providing accurate and comprehensive information from the government, listening to different viewpoints, discussing them, and accepting criticism.
The president also emphasised the importance of public awareness and countering attempts to undermine Egypt’s national memory, particularly through social media. He noted that similar attempts had taken place before 2014, adding that efforts to influence a country as populous and strategically significant as Egypt, or to marginalise its role, would continue. He described this as a struggle involving both the state and its people.
El-Sisi said his repeated references to the events of 2011 were intended to reinforce public awareness and highlight the importance of preserving the Egyptian state, particularly among children and young people who did not experience that period. While differences in opinion are acceptable, he stressed that preserving the state remains a fundamental principle that must not be compromised.
The president further noted that the stability achieved in recent years had come at a significant cost, with Egypt making considerable sacrifices, including the loss of members of the armed forces, police, and judiciary, as well as worshippers in mosques and churches. He also highlighted the financial resources spent on achieving stability and combating terrorism.
El-Sisi underscored the importance of reminding the public of the insecurity Egypt experienced between 2011 and 2013, stressing that stability must remain firmly rooted in the national consciousness.
Addressing concerns raised during the session about the risks associated with social media, the president called for moderation and responsible use of technology. He warned against attempts to isolate individuals and mobilise groups of citizens in ways that could lead to the destruction of their own country. He also highlighted the responsibility of Egyptian families to balance technological progress with supervision of their children's use of digital platforms.
The president explained that the forum aims to review the government's work across various sectors, compare conditions before and after development projects, and give citizens a closer look at achievements made within available resources and circumstances to address longstanding challenges. He added that the forum seeks to reassure citizens about their country's progress, stressing that individuals eventually leave office, while Egypt remains.
El-Sisi also said Egyptians had embarked on a genuine phase of nation-building in recent years, despite the considerable risks associated with major decisions. He noted that these decisions were necessary, particularly given Egypt's population growth of nearly 30 million people since 2011.
The president urged citizens to pay close attention to the details and data presented throughout the forum, highlighting their direct impact on people's lives. He added that the government would outline its actions over the previous period, explain what the situation might have been had those measures not been taken, and present its plans for the future.
