<p>President &amp; CEO of Harvest, founding member of EO Cairo, and founding board member of EEA (Egypt's Entrepreneur Awards) Ahmed Habib, was&nbsp; Nile FM's guest on "The Big Breakfast Show" with Rob Stevens &amp; Sara Asfoury, and he shared details about the 3rd edition of the EEA, and what makes this year's edition different.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Egypt's Entrepreneur Awards' Aim</strong></span></p>
<p>Ahmed Habib started by highlighting the aim of Egypt&rsquo;s first awards&nbsp;ceremony that honors the nation&rsquo;s brightest entrepreneurs across various industries, the EEA, saying, the aim is "To inspire those that haven&rsquo;t even started. So we&rsquo;re talking about kids in high school and kids in college. Thanks to Amr [Amr Mansi] and the board for the vision to do that. To basically recognize them, celebrate them, and inspire the future generation of entrepreneurs. That&rsquo;s really the core of why we backed, pushed, and supported the EEA".</p>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>What's New For EEA This Year?</strong></span></p>
<p>When Habib was asked about what's new in this edition of EEA, he said that the credibility and value of the event increased, "This year we had an overwhelming amount of applications, 280 applications, which is far higher than the previous years. I think people now recognize it and realize that it&rsquo;s legitimate, that it&rsquo;s a very fair and just process that entrepreneurs go through, and that it&rsquo;s very value-adding to them", he also talked about the new categories that were added this year, saying, "The other thing is, this year has one of the first regional awards. We thought to make a regional award because a lot of entrepreneurs are not acting in Egypt, they are also expanding regionally. We brought new categories like the &ldquo;Next Gen Intrapreneur of the Year&rdquo;.</p>
<p>Then, he also mentioned the rest of the new categories, such as &ldquo;Rising Entrepreneur of the Year&rdquo;,&nbsp;"Entrepreneur for Good Award&rdquo;, and&nbsp;&ldquo;From Art to Business Award&rdquo;, Habib added, "We basically narrowed down some of the categories, we got 14 categories this year. There are a lot of changes but a big part of it is the feeling and the credibility of the awards. It&rsquo;s like business, first and second year you&rsquo;re very much in startup mode and kind of just building the brand and the equity for it, and now you really feel like it&rsquo;s real and it&rsquo;s strong. It&rsquo;s growing and it&rsquo;s really exciting".</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>The Benefits of The EEA</strong></span></p>
<p>Ahmed Habib also talked about the value that the EEA brings to entrepreneurs saying, "A big part of it is the process that the entrepreneurs go through. The nomination to the judging, we have an incredible panel and an incredible jury that are industry experts in their different fields, so the process of judging is extremely beneficial for entrepreneurs". He continued, "You got these really established and successful industry experts, who tend to be quite intelligent, asking you about your business and really looking at it with you. &nbsp;[This] gives you a bird&rsquo;s eye view, and maybe gives you a different perspective on things that you didn&rsquo;t think about".</p>
<p>Habib also talked about the networking aspect of the award, "We do a great job with the build-up, with a launching event, and a shortlisting event. There are different events leading up to the actual awards, and in all these events you see the entrepreneurs connecting with each other, and networking. It creates an ecosystem for them, other than the awards they build relationships and they build a support system for themselves&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>The Current State of Entrepreneurship Scene In Egypt</strong></span></p>
<p>When Ahmed Habib was asked about how does he see the entrepreneurial ship scene in Egypt? And how fast is it growing? He replied, "I really think it&rsquo;s been growing heavily. Entrepreneurship is something that&rsquo;s been around for centuries it&rsquo;s not something that&rsquo;s new, I think what&rsquo;s new is the acceptance of it and the understanding of the value that it brings to society".</p>
<p>He added, "50 years ago, everyone needed to be a doctor or an engineer, there were certain categories that were acceptable as good career paths or stable paths that will help you provide for your family, and entrepreneurship was kind of like being an artist&hellip;and over the years, society as a whole understood that entrepreneurs are the number one job creators in any economy, and that&rsquo;s a fact that&rsquo;s not stressed enough. Large companies don&rsquo;t grow at these rates and they don&rsquo;t create jobs at these rates, and they don&rsquo;t provide value for society. There&rsquo;s something very powerful about being small, nimble, and quick".</p>
