Raouf El Sherif, the Egyptian content creator, was NileFM's guest on "Brain Busters", and this what he told us about &lsquo;jumping out of your comfort zone&rsquo;
What makes jumping out of comfort zone hard for most people?
It depends on the setting. People usually are afraid to do it when their friends are watching or when people they might know make fun of them. For example, when you start a TIKTOK account, people want to make silly videos. They will be worried about who will watch their videos, and one will &nbsp;feel embarrassed when they know someone is watching you. By the time you build confidence, you start to be brave.
Why do you think traveling, or going to an event scene is so intimidating for some people?
People's biggest concern is their safety, so having someone there usually provides you with &nbsp;more safety, it makes you feel that &nbsp;if something would go wrong you will have someone you know there, &nbsp;especially if you go to foreign country, and you don&rsquo;t know anyone it does help comfort you, but at the same time just &nbsp;doing &nbsp;those new things alone is a great experience, it forces you to go out your comfort zone as long as you don&rsquo;t go into a bad accident God forbid , but it&rsquo;s a great experience, and there are good stories come out there.
What advice would you give to someone who &nbsp;has never jumped out of their comfort zone?
I would say practice being more social like for example just joke around with your local barista a bit more, &nbsp;talk to strangers a bit more, safely of course and take precautions Speak to people around you more often especially strangers, &nbsp;just be more smiley be just more friendly, easier to talk to because people will approach you &nbsp;and it is &nbsp;a lot &nbsp;easier when you are &nbsp;approached than approaching someone. Also when you do go abroad, especially if people don't speak the language of &nbsp;that country, it's really intimidating to just speak with strangers but if you're already used to that and &nbsp;if it's in your blood, &nbsp;it's a habit. &nbsp;You just need that social energy cause you miss it so you going be forced to speak to others &nbsp;and before you know you going to be introduced to most amazing people, and they going inviting you to places you never thought you will go.
Do you think social media helps people to feel brave enough to take risks, or does it make them feel more hesitant?
Definitely, more hesitant,&nbsp; if you think about it people could be very mean online, especially when &nbsp;the strangers &nbsp;are hiding behind the keyboard, they &nbsp;are more likely to share hurtful opinions about you, once you put yourself out there to everyone to be seen it&rsquo;s very dangerous, it is a risky game, so you must be super confident, and also don&rsquo;t care about people&rsquo;s &nbsp;opinions. Also, don&rsquo;t care about the &nbsp;positive opinions, because if you really care about those once those are gone you going to feel empty inside, you don&rsquo;t need reassurance from strangers so you need to be confident in whatever you're posting and just know that the first video post online or the first thing that you ever do it's never going to be perfect and you can always get better, and better and same time it's going to take you months, and years to perfect it so don't stress yourself.
What do you do to chase your dreams?
I &nbsp;always tell people I do a lot of things for the younger version of me, there is something in life I don&rsquo;t want anymore, but I know that the younger me would be happy with, for example, I went to WrestleMania in the US, and I wasn&rsquo;t really a fan anymore but a younger version of me have loved to do.
If you could give your younger self one piece of advice about taking risks, what would it be?
I would say that you are never going to achieve your dreams if you just stay in your comfort zone, all the big dreams have some elements of risk in them, or otherwise, everyone would have done them, so if it&rsquo;s not risky, then it&rsquo;s not worth it. You got the &nbsp;leap of faith.
