From the coastal city of Alexandria to performances across international venues, DJ Shika Saber is set to take over this week&rsquo;s edition of NileFM&rsquo;s DJ of the Week. For the DJ and producer, however, music is about more than filling dance floors. It is about telling stories through sound.
Listeners can tune in at 10:00 p.m. to hear Shika Saber present a one hour set on NileFM, blending Afro house and melodic house influences inspired by his travels and live performances.
Ahead of the show, NileFM spoke to the DJ about his musical beginnings, international experiences, and approach to creating sets that connect with audiences.
Early Beginnings In Alexandria
1. Could you tell us about your journey and what motivated you to become a DJ?
My journey started in Alexandria, where I was surrounded by a diverse musical atmosphere. I have always been drawn to rhythm and storytelling through sound, and Afro house and melodic house gave me a way to express both emotion and energy. What motivated me was the ability to connect people on a deeper level. Seeing how music can unite a crowd regardless of background pushed me to pursue DJing seriously and evolve into music production as well.

International Influence On His Sound
2. You frequently travel between cities such as Jordan and Dubai. In what ways has this international exposure influenced your work?
Travelling has greatly expanded my perspective. Each place has its own vibe and audience energy. Dubai is very dynamic and high energy, while Jordan has a more soulful and intimate feel. This contrast has helped me balance my sets between powerful drops and emotional melodies, making my sound more versatile and globally appealing.
3. How do different cultural environments impact your musical style and set selection?
I always read the crowd and consider the cultural context. In some places, people connect more with deep, melodic journeys, while others respond more to groove driven Afro rhythms. I adapt by blending both worlds, keeping my signature sound while tailoring the energy and progression to suit the environment.
Memorable Performances And Creative Process
4. Have you experienced a particularly memorable moment while performing live?
One of the most memorable moments was seeing a crowd completely locked into a melodic Afro track that I produced. It was one of those moments when everyone is in sync, and you instantly feel the connection. That kind of energy reminds me why I do this.
5. Could you describe your process for preparing and structuring a DJ set?
I usually start by understanding the setting and audience. Then I build a journey, beginning with deeper atmospheric sounds, gradually increasing the energy and creating emotional peaks. I organise my tracks by mood and key to ensure smooth transitions, but I always leave room for improvisation depending on the crowd&rsquo;s reaction.
6. Was there a defining moment in your career that confirmed your potential for success as a DJ?
Yes, performing outside Egypt for the first time was a turning point. Seeing an international audience connect with my sound gave me confidence that what I am doing can reach beyond borders and has real potential.

7. Do you have a notable memory associated with NileFM that encouraged your application for DJ of the Week?
NileFM has always been a platform that supports fresh talent and modern sounds. I have followed it for years, and being part of it felt like the right step to share my music with a wider audience in Egypt.

8. How do you ensure your music library remains current and relevant?
I constantly search for new music, follow emerging artists and stay connected with global trends in Afro house and melodic house. I also produce my own tracks, which helps me maintain a unique and up to date sound.
9. Should audiences anticipate any unique elements in your DJ of the Week performance?
Definitely. I will be blending Afro house rhythms with melodic elements, including some of my own unreleased tracks. The set is designed as a journey, something immersive that builds emotion and energy throughout the hour.
Advice For Emerging DJs
10. What advice would you offer to aspiring DJs aiming to perform internationally and on platforms such as NileFM?
Stay authentic to your sound but be adaptable. Consistency is key. Keep practising, keep learning, and do not rush the process. Networking and understanding different audiences are just as important as technical skills. Most importantly, let your passion guide you.
