Once again, Al Ahly has made headlines by&nbsp;pulling out&nbsp;of the Cairo Derby against Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League. The club refused to participate after its demand for a foreign refereeing team&mdash;intended to guarantee fairness&mdash;was denied.
Al Ahly&rsquo;s Historic League Withdrawals
Al Ahly&rsquo;s first-ever withdrawal&nbsp;came in&nbsp;1941, during the league&rsquo;s final round, after Zamalek had already&nbsp;secured the league/title.
The second withdrawal&nbsp;came in&nbsp;1966 during a heated clash with Zamalek. In the 20th minute, Al Ahly stormed off the pitch in protest after a controversially disallowed goal.

Zamalek Statement After the Match
The Board of Directors of Zamalek SC, led by Captain Hussein Labib, has officially requested that the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association award them the three points &mdash;if a team fails to show up for a match, the opposing team is awarded a forfeit win with a 3-0 scoreline and 3 points in the standings&mdash; for their unplayed match against Al Ahlyin the second phase of the Egyptian Premier League.&nbsp;
In a statement, Zamalek emphasized that the club&rsquo;s first football team adhered to the scheduled match time and arrived at the stadium, while the opposing team failed to show up.
The club demanded the full application of the regulations, similar to what was enforced against Zamalek in the second-round derby of the Premier League last season. Referee Mahmoud Basiony officially canceled the game after waiting 20 minutes, confirming Al Ahly&rsquo;s absence from Cairo Stadium.
