The Egyptian national fencing team has returned home as continental champions after securing 42 medals at the African Junior and Youth Championships, held in Senegal from 16 to 21 February.
The delegation was officially received by Minister of Youth and Sports Gohar Nabil, alongside Egyptian Fencing Federation President Tariq Al-Hussaini and mission head Ahmed Samir Al-Maidani, marking the team&rsquo;s first-place finish in the overall standings.
Medal tally
Egypt collected 22 gold, 9 silver, and 11 bronze medals, placing it firmly at the top of the rankings across all youth categories.
Official reaction
Minister Gohar Nabil praised the fencers&rsquo; technical level and competitive spirit, saying the result reflected sustained state investment in sport and long-term preparation programmes implemented by the federation.

Prospects
He added that fencing remains one of the country&rsquo;s strongest disciplines internationally and expressed confidence that the athletes would continue to perform strongly in forthcoming global competitions.
