Egyptian boxer Omar Heikal spoke to NileFM about his upcoming fight against Michael Kalyala as part of the global boxing event Glory in Giza, which will take place at the Giza Pyramids on Saturday, 23 May 2026.
Heikal shared his thoughts on the pressure that comes before stepping into the ring, explaining that nerves are a natural part of the sport. &ldquo;There is always pressure before a fight,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;But once the bell rings, the fear disappears, and the focus becomes winning.&rdquo;
He added that every opponent requires a different strategy inside the ring. According to Heikal, excessive tension can affect a fighter&rsquo;s performance, especially when competing in a major international event like Glory in Giza.
The Egyptian boxer also expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to showcase local talent on a global stage. Heikal thanked Turki Al‑Sheikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia&rsquo;s General Entertainment Authority, for supporting the event and giving fighters the chance to present their abilities to audiences around the world.
