After the success of its first season, the Egyptian series &ldquo;El Nos El Tany&rdquo; returns with a second season that combines historical themes with comedy. The show once again offers audiences an entertaining narrative while drawing inspiration from real events and cultural moments in Egypt&rsquo;s past.
Exploring Egypt&rsquo;s Spiritual Curiosity in the 1940s
Part of the new season focuses on the history of the Al-Ahram Society for Spiritual Research, which was founded in Cairo in 1943 by Dr Ali Abdel-Galil Radi, a professor at the Faculty of Science. During that period, interest in spirit summoning and paranormal exploration grew internationally, particularly as people sought distraction from the devastation of World War II. Among the society&rsquo;s notable members was the celebrated Egyptian actor Youssef Wahbi.

Remembering the Golden Age of Egyptian Radio
The series also revisits a time when radio dominated Egyptian entertainment. Before modern recording technologies, radio dramas and serials were broadcast live, sometimes performed by full theatrical troupes inside the studio. Radio programmes became so popular that cinema screenings were occasionally cancelled due to low attendance, while streets across Cairo would empty during broadcasts of famous shows such as &ldquo;Enemy of Humanity&rdquo;, presented by radio pioneer Youssef Ezz El-Din.
Historical Settings and Real Stories
Another storyline highlights the history of Abbasiya Psychiatric Hospital. The building was originally known as the Red Palace because of its reddish-brown paint. After a major fire, it was repainted yellow and, in 1883, converted into Egypt&rsquo;s first specialised mental health hospital, later earning the nickname &ldquo;The Yellow Palace&rdquo;. The season draws inspiration from documented events and is adapted from a book by Ayman Osman, adding historical depth to the narrative.

&ldquo;El Nos El Tany&rdquo; is written by Sherif Abdel Fattah, Abdel Rahman Gawish and Wagih Sabry. The cast includes Ahmed Amin, Sedki Sakhr, Hamza Al-Aili, Asmaa Abu Al-Yazid, Basmah, Donia Sami and Abdel Rahman Mohamed. Through a mix of drama and humour, the series aims to present historical themes in a format that is both engaging and accessible to audiences.
