Egypt will begin their Africa Cup of Nations campaign on Sunday, 22 December, when they face Zimbabwe in their opening group match at 10:00 PM, as the 2025 tournament gets under way in Morocco.
The Pharaohs are the most successful team in the competition&rsquo;s history, having won the title a record seven times. Egypt have taken part in the tournament on 26 occasions since its launch in 1957 and remain the only nation to have lifted the trophy in three consecutive editions, between 2006 and 2010.
Their previous triumphs came in 1957, 1959, 1986, 1998, 2006, 2008 and 2010, establishing Egypt as one of African football&rsquo;s dominant forces.

Egypt have also hosted the Africa Cup of Nations five times &mdash; in 1959, 1974, 1986, 2006 and 2019, underlining their long-standing role in the development of the continental competition.
AFCON 2025 officially began on Saturday with the opening match between hosts Morocco and Comoros. The tournament will run from 21 December 2025 until 18 January 2026.
